some news and food for thought - recently I’ve talked with multiple iPhone owners and some shops that sell them. I tried a few of their phones and ALL of them were able to replicate the issue with the well known lock/unlock procedure. Each one of them! And the owners haven’t even noticed it, because they don’t use this function so much.

It was eye opening. Is it getting so widespread now? Apple still doing nothing?

iOS15.5 didn’t fix the bug ?
That's sad. I gave up on trying, so I restored my phone from my GF's iPhone backup which doesn't have this problem. And then just manually deleted all apps, photos, etc, and loaded my content. So far works well!

Going to tell you some weird thing happened to me and solved this issue. I had iMazing installed on my mac (not an ad, actually it's been cracked lol) and I had a recent iPhone backup on it. It doesn't matter if a backup made with this issue already or not, I have had this bug since the October, but have backed up my iPhone with iMazing a couple of weeks ago. And all I did was launch the app on my mac and connected my iPhone via Wi-Fi (and the cable after some time). Then I didn't do literally anything, just been clicking here and there in the backup and the other places for like 30-60 minutes, tried to find and run the function I came for, so doesn't matter.

I did not restore, no new backups, no settings changing, nothing. After some time, I opened the spotlight on the phone and found the welcome screen hanging there. You know that one telling you about what you can search (I’ve attached the example from Google). I was like ok that's weird. But that's it, afterwards the problem has gone. These actions turned out as a solution for me, so you can try to replicate something like this by yourself and tell if it's gonna work for you.

P.S. I tried different versions of iMazing. I’ve had a cracked app on my Macbook and the official app with the free license on my iMac and also one two-weeks old backup shared to both of them. I don't remember on which of these macs this welcome screen happened in the spotlight. So, the problem is gone but it's still unclear what actions are the reason for the solution.

Got the iPhone 13 pro max, had the same problem, went on vacation to My homeland country Syria, and SUDDENLY!!! Siri sugesstions is working again!!! I don't know what the heck is going on...I live in Qatar BTW..

Whenever I go to Syria the issue solved itself on every new iPhone I get. (I upgrade my iPhone annually)

Is it something related to location? I'm lost.

I think this got fixed with iOS 16 fifth public beta. Has not been happening since updating today.

Edit: I was wrong :/

First encountered this when installed iOS 16 release candidate. Clean install didn’t help. Also sometime it doesn’t work as supposed to. It just shows some default apps instead of those that I use often or in certain time. Weird bug and it’s sad to know that some of you are dealing with it for years lol. God help us.

Well, as I posted this I think I've found a solution that has been working for a day :). I'll keep you all updated. But for now, I've uninstalled Spark email client which is no longer available in my region. After that suggestions started working just fine and they update regularly. This makes me think that suggestions might stuck if there's some app that blocks access to statistics or something like that. Maybe deleting the "broken" app helped OS to rebuild indexes and stats, so I suggest trying to delete unused apps and see if it helps. I guess solution is somewhere in that area.

How is it going now? I uninstalled Spark, Documents 5, AdGuard (read before that AdGuard could be a reason). The problem still with me =(
Actually it works much better on iOS 16. The bug happens less often than it was before.

Sadly this bug reappeared. It happens not that often, but it’s still annoying as hell. I’ll try deleting as many unused apps as possible and see if it helps.

I am cautious to say this but it seems so! So far, a few days of it working as it should. Let’s just hope Apple wouldn’t break it again.

I hope so, it took them two operating systems to fix
