Had this as a free app on windows mobile the last couple of years.
Miss it as it's yet another thing I could do before, but not now.

Being able to stream sirius on the phone was very cool, but it was limited. Sirius only lets you stream the music channels, howard stern and a couple of others. All the other talk channels were missing, and I doubt that's going to change.

It's still around 75 channles though, and plus they only tend to include the morel listened to talk stations, thats whay I notice. Still though, thats alot to choose from with your subscription IMO. And at least you know Sirius is good. AOL is a great app, but with Sirius, I get my favorite things, thats the way I look at it. You should've seen like two years ago before Howard, Sirius didnt stream much over the internet then, if you think now is not so good!

Had it since 2004. The number of stations they stream has barely changed at all.

I looked on the App store today and no StarPlayr yet. :(

Did the first sentence in the first post not help you....

"NiceMac is currently developing StarPlayr for the iPhone, an application that will allow XM/Sirius satellite radio on the iPhone without any hacking."

That would've helped you realize before you wasted the time searching the store for it....maybe developing, that key word would have helped.....

We don't have a date locked in and we do want to bring this to the public ASAP. The app is nearing completion. We have one hold up with one of our vendors and it will take at least another 30 days. Some business transactions do not move as fast as we'd like. In the meantime we are continuing our testing and fine tuning of the iPhone App making sure it will be ready to go and we are also proceeding with our Windows and Windows Mobile clients.

My guess is October at this point. If it is any sooner, we will announce it.

gt :)

Hey,

I have an xm account in one of my cars, and I dont think I'm going to start up another Sirius account, because of the merger. I have an iPhone 3g, and I was wondering after they release the Starplayr 2, will I be able to listen to howard stern with my xm account? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

But you'll have to upgrade your bit-rate if you want sub-par sound quality. Sirius online suck, which is why I only tune in with my receiver.

Maybe this will be fixed with the new merger.

Maybe maybe not, as of right now Mel Karmazin said radio that can recieve both signals are years out, plus to not wreck eithers 'brand' they were going to keep them seperate for quite sometime....does that mean internet channels merge, perhaps, but I doubt it, although Mel also said they'd share content that was highly popular on both services, so you never know, but right now it is undertermined what will merge from what service to the next. This comes from Mel K and Howard Stern a day or two after the merger passed.

edit: The first true cross over is the MadDog channel, as that will be on both XM and Sirius starting Sept 15th

edit #2: was talking to Dave from Geekstoolbox via email, regarding the new starplyr w/ NiceMac, and he said soon he'll have true word what is up. So I trust him, it could be soon, I say maybe Thanksgiving tim ehere in the states, November for those outside of the US with account online.....

Pricing will most likely be 9.99 for all our Sirius XM integrated products including the iPhone. For versions 1.0, one time purchase and point updates will be free. Pricing is subject to change at anytime.

As far as a release, keep checking StarPlayr.com for news updates. There are some third party business issues that are 'clogging the tubes'. The app is finished, but until the business side is ironed out, I can't be more specific at this time. We'd like to most faster, but when other companies are involved, we have to fit it into their schedule.

I'll be glad when we can finally tell our users what the deal is; right now we have to be as vague as possible. We are working on something BIG and we don't want to give away what the plan is until

Updated for those interested.

The only BIG news that I think would be "big", is if this transformed into the Sirius XM product from the company itself (through an agreement, buyout, or whatnot).

I dont think you understand the product NiceMac and Geekstoolbox are doing with streamsmart. They allow you to access both services from their applications, and surely as the online stream update to include the best of both companies, they'll update their streams. These guy know what theyre doing for sure!

I understand that. I was simply speculating what might constitue "big" news. Plus, if these streams are being routed through their servers I'm curious how my account is in turn authenticated with either of the respective services.

I dont think it is their server I believe it is actually Sirius and XM's, they just do transcoding on their side to push it out in iPhone format. I try and talk to Dave the guy from Geeks often, about this, and the starplyr for the pc, and this is what i gather, you should go to his site, geektoolbox.com, he answers pretty much any/everything, i believe i understand basics, but not at all advanced. :)
