Hmmm. £6/month I may well be willing to part with for Prem matches. And I can watch on my telly with my apple video out cable. Works a treat with BBC iplayer webapp, so hopefully this would too.

Thank you. Do you have a source link for that with any more info?

no sorry, i am assuming this is correct as this was in another post:

Sky is launching a fantastic live TV iPhone App on 9 November and O2 customers can get it for free for the first three months. That means exclusive access to Sky Sports 1, 2 and 3 as well as a host of other sports and news channels including all Premiership matches screened live.

Sky Mobile TV will be available through the Apple App store and normally costs £6 a month. Our iPhone customers can get a promotional code to use during signup for the App giving them three months free by texting Sky to 2020.

The offer will be displayed in retail windows and in other advertising. It will also automatically pop up on O2 customers' iPhones when they download the application – making sure that they are fully aware of this exclusive offer.

Sky Mobile TV will give access to live streaming from Sky Sports 1,2 and 3 as well as Sky Sports News, Sky Sports Extra, Sky News, At The Races and ESPN*. After the three month promotional period the service will cost £6 per month with a one month minimum term.

During the three months free period, we’ll send our customers texts to remind them that they’ll be paying £6 per month for the app after the three months is over. If they’d like to unsubscribe from Sky Mobile TV they can visit www.sky.com to do so.

The App requires Wi-Fi connectivity and does not work over 3G.

Full details of the offer will be available on www.o2.co.uk on Monday.

This exclusive offer is available to all our iPhone customers including:

• Staff & Friends and Family
• Pay Monthly
• Pay & Go
• Business

*some Sky content not included – WWE, HBO Boxing, MLB, Serie A and NCAA are currently excluded.

Well according to their site, it's now live. But there's no iTunes link on the page, and I can't find it on the AppStore. I assume it'll appear at some
stage today. Also the promo code for o2 customers (text "SKY" to 2020) isn't live yet.

"Mobile TV", wi-fi only... you've got to laugh.

Well, I imagine that Sky would want it available over 3g as well, but it's probably O2 that is not allowing this for the time being. Maybe one day O2 will have their network capable of carrying large amounts of streaming video. Perhaps there's a hint to when this will happen in the number for the promo codes - 2020......

Looks pretty sweet. Very simple to use, just login to your account, then choose the channel you want to watch, and you're away. You can also skip back 30sec - seems to work twice, i.e. you can go back a minute behind live tv, and you can also pause, and skip forward to go back to "live". Sweet.

Now just need to check it works with my video out cable when I get home, so I can watch the footie on the telly. I'm thinking that they may well have blocked video out with the app, to stop people doing this, i.e. so you have to pay for one of their "full" subscription packages to watch on the big screen, but we can hope. I'll post back once I've tested it this evening, in case anyone else is also interested in whether this works.

Here's some screenies:

Yep 3 months. Got my text confirming this, signed up and all seems sweet. With the massive caveat that this only works over wifi. Might just as well watch it on my telly then :(

Yeah, I can see it wouldn't be a lot of use to existing customers until it works over 3g. Unless you happen to be on holiday, in the UK, and have access to a Wifi network.....

I don't have Sky at home though, so it's a good deal for me, and those in the same situation. I just hope it works if I plug the iPhone into my tv at home, otherwise I'm not sure I'll be wanting to watch many games on the small screen.

Edit: oh and offer limited to first 150k applicants

They said skype would only work on wifi..... it does work on 3g with jailbroken phones :D

It looks very good but I wont be paying £6 a month for it. I already pay too much for Sky TV (which keeps going up).
