Personally, I think this should be free for existing customers with a Sky Sports subscription.
I'd certainly agree with that. I think right now we're paying something like £40+… so they could easily throw this in as an extra.

So how does billing work.... do they charge a credit/debit card or do they charge your o2 bill....???
You need a credit or debit card.

Credit/Debit card. You need to signup for a MySky account if you don't already have one, then enter your billing details. So you get charged monthly by Sky rather than via O2 or Apple. In-app purchasing would have been easier, but I guess that would mean Apple would get 30% of the subscription fees.

am i the only person that can't see this app in the app store on the iphone?

the link posted shows the app in itunes, but when searching for "bskyb" i am only getting 4 apps showing, whereas in itunes it shows 5 apps (including the mobiletv app).

No, not just you. It seems that apps don't appear in search straight away. I've seen this on quite a few occasions in the past. Until it does, you can get it by clicking the link from these forums on you iphone safari browser, or just type the following url into mobile safari: linktoapp.com/sky+mobile+tv

Try searching for

sky tv mobile

Thats how I found it

Is this just for sports channels, or for all of Sky TV?

Sports and sky news!

Can anyone confirm whether either of the tv out cables will work with this app?

Bugger. Just tested it with my apple video-out cable (works with other apps - BBC iPlayer, YouTube etc.), and it no worky. Audio works, but video only displayed on the iPhone's screen. They've obviously thought people might try this to get a cheaper sky sports subscription on the big screen and blocked video output in the app. Arsebag.

OT but what status bar notifier are you using?

Ha, iam sure someone from the jailbreaking crew will be able to enable it soon :D

Not subscribed!

I downloaded, registered and logged in and did everything am supposed to yet when i click on a channel they still say not subscribed yet but if i click subscribe now it tells me my subscription is active.

Any idea what to do next?

It's not Sky. Apple's video-out cable only works on the stock apps (which include YouTube and Safari - the reason why iPlayer works). It won't work on 3rd party apps. Yep, it sucks. :(

And yes, there's two apps (TVOut and ScreenSplitr) available in Cydia for jailbroken phones but I found the quality to be too poor with Slingplayer being unwatchable on the TV compared to the phone. Maybe someone else has had better success.

Just to let people know the 3gUnrestricter seems to be no longer working with the Sky Mobile TV app, so anyone hoping to take out a subscription and watch it over 3G better hold fire for the moment.

I will try again later, but I had it working fine yesterday and today it seems to have died.

Edit: Weirdly EPSN is working, but all other channels are saying network error. So could just be an issue with Sky.

this is amazing.

i may just have to make an iphone stand out of a cereal packet so I can watch stuff at my desk given it won't allow TV out but still better than paying for Sky!

I am having exactly the same problem. Any ideas?

i can't seemed to add my subscription, the webpage going out of wack? no place for me to enter my address :confused::confused:

I'm getting the exact same problem. I did manage to enter a postcode once but it came out with a generic address which I assume wasn't close enough to my billing address, so it rejected it. Now I can't put in a postcode or address at all. I tried to do it on the Mac but the Sky Payments page doesn't have the ability to subscribe to Sky Mobile services yet. Just phoned Sky and it seems like the problem is their end and they are hoping to sort it out within the next 24 hrs. As long as you get the code from O2 it should be sorted out soon, but a bit shoddy that it wasn't sorted out ready for launch.
