It's not Sky. Apple's video-out cable only works on the stock apps (which include YouTube and Safari - the reason why iPlayer works). It won't work on 3rd party apps. Yep, it sucks. :(

This isn't entirely true, the Air Video app allows you to output video playing on your phone on your TV, which leads me to think that Sky have written something into the app to stop this.

I think it would be extremely naive for anyone to think Sky would have allowed such a loop hole… sport is their biggest (?) revenue stream and to give it away for £6/mth was never going to happen.

I like the fact I can now get my fill just about anywhere… :)

I guess it was just wishful thinking on my part. :)

It's actually adequate enough on the small screen watching the big games, so I'm gonna keep the subscription.

Has anybody tried using tv out app on a jailbroken iphone with the apple component cable?

I'm presuming it doesnt work when you try outputting to a tv with just the cable and the sky tv app?

I didn't know about this app but just checked it out - if it does work with the cable *and* converts it'll be worth every penny. Thanks! :)

Yeah i've been using it for a while, works like a treat. £1.79 is an absolute bargain.

I can also confirm that using the TVOut app from Cydia/Rock with a composite cable does allow you to output the Sky stream onto your TV, BUT, it doesn't work every time, there is something of a knack to to it, and when it does work, the image is the wrong way round on the screen. So it is possible, but it's not perfect yet.

So before I go and spend £35 on a Apple Component cable this weekend, can you confirm that SKyTv app works with the cable and Airvideo?

Ive bought the air video app now, and want to get the cable over the weekend, but dont wanna waste £35. Ta

Don't think this is going to work From what I understand the Airvideo app is used to stream video from your pc/mac to the iphone. Wouldn't have thought that you can use this to output the video from the Sky app, as that would mean having 2 apps open at the same time, which is not possible on the iphone.

As suggested by the previous poster, I wasn't using the Airvideo app with Sky TV app, you can't to the best of my knowledge. I was simply opening the Sky TV app and plugging my phone into the dock which was connected to my TV. What I did have was the TVOut app, which I downloaded from Rock/Cydia, this runs in the background and outputs anything on your screen onto a TV/Monitor etc. when connected.

Further to this I don't recommend buying the cable solely for this purpose, as I say, the image is the wrong way round, ie. it mimics what is on your iPhone screen exactly, and it's very hit and miss to even get that to work.

Hope that helps

Hmmm, my account shows this?

Is it now working on 3g?

Yes. It's been updated to work over 3G.
I was using 3GUnrestrictor, anyways, but it's cool to have it official. :D
I hope this'll also work on the iPad(via Wi-Fi at minimum).

So can anyone confirm that this will work in the States? Also, how many channels come with this app and what are the channels?
