great to hear! Can't wait until i can try it out on iPhone OS 4.0 with its multitask abilities with voip.

Finally! Been waiting for this forever! Too bad they have to charge after Aug 2010 on Skype to Skype calls on 3G but oh well.. at least they got it running as of now!

- Fast access to the dial pad from iPhone home screen

Does anyone know what this means? I don't see any way to access Skype's dial pad on my phone's homescreen.

Monthly fee prepping for video calling??

I wonder if they'll start charging for Skype to Skype service to coincide with a possible certain major feature that could be coming in future updates, as we start seeing phones pop up with front facing cameras...

Just a thought ;-)

That small fee is such a joke! I really hope that doesn't happen. I was planning on getting a subscription to skype once 3g calling came out. Now I am debating that. I hope the fee is waived for those with a subscription.

I'm fairly sure you can do 3G Skype-Skype calls without any question of a "small fee" using Fring or Nimbuzz.

Maybe this is all about video calls coming soon(ish) (maybe).

Or you can just jailbreak and get Skype over 3G for free.

Honestly, how much data does Skype voice consume?

Ok so we finally get VOIP over 3G but still no push???

WTF is Skypes problem with updating their freaking app

I don't really understand whats up with the fee after August

this can't be AT&T's doing because they approved VOIP over 3G a long time ago and not just for Skype.... and what difference does it make to Skype what kind of connection we are using????

how is a new fee justified??? am i missing something?

Frankly, Skype has just been lazy. No excuse for not bringing push. And now, they need money, not because making these calls cost them. I think its the charge for app development and maintenance which only those who make calls over 3G pay.

FU Skype.

saying they are going to charge a small fee if you make calls on 3G is like them suddenly saying they are going to start charging a small fee if you get your internet through one particular service provider but not the rest

what does it matter to them where my bandwidth is coming from

I could see if AT&T was charging us (although I would not like that either) but I cant see how Skype can justify charging us anything

and if this is for app development then charge a small fee for the damn app

We can't really complain about a "small fee". Free has been great, but it's been a privilege, not a right.

My real beef with Skype has been that they let the Mac client fall 2 versions behind the Windows client. They were originally matched, but after eBay took over, things fell apart. I sure hope that they get their ducks back in a row. Macs are not second-class citizens.

although this update is long overdue, in less than a month push will no longer be necessary. since this update wasn't ready months ago (as it should have been), they probably just decided not to bother adding push.

Really really think this sucks. Skype need to justify why they need to charge a small fee for 3G usage. Their business model has just changed for the worse IMO

so, you freely acknowledge that they probably need money for app development and maintenance -- both of which are very real, often costly, expenses. (and i happen to agree.) but then, despite your previously intelligent rationale, you contradict yourself with "FU Skype."

that makes no sense, whatsoever.

No clue, I did send Skype an email asking about that feature. I wish they would update the app, like looks kind of cheesy and an iPad version would be cool..:)

They mean SMALL

common!
I pay 3.99 a month for this same thing on my laptop. When they say SMALL, they mean it. That's the cost of an app.
Come on cheapos.
