Anyone else got a subtle red/pink tint on one or both edges of their iPhone X screen?

It’s the same colour that the screen generally veers towards when tilted, but, in my case, only down the left hand edge.

Very subtle, as I say, and not something I’m bothered by at all, but just wondering...
[doublepost=1511744514][/doublepost]If you have one of the pink screen phones the edges reflect red dots into screen when the sun hits the edge at the right angle.

I have this issue...not super noticeable, but definitely there. Someone on reddit said they played around with settings and was able to mostly take care of it. I tried the same thing and can not really notice it anymore.

I have true tone on, auto brightness on and changed the white point reduce to on (was off before) and set it to 35% and so far, so good!

My first X had this and the replacement has it as well, but to a lesser degree. I just tried blue rocket's fix and it seems to have helped. I'll give it a few days before deciding whether to get it replaced.

Everything else is perfect on this phone, I really don’t want to exchange it and have some other nitpicky issue. Will continue to pay attention to the screen and see if this truly fixed it, don’t see any downside to the tweak ... screen still looks great

My iPhone X has this too... a very narrow pink hue on the left hand side. It gets less noticeable as the brightness goes up, but I notice it whenever I am reading at night with the brightness low (and especially when Night Shift kicks in). It's not something I looked for, I noticed it while reading email and in the News app when I first got the phone.

I went to an Apple Store here in Manhattan and compared my X next to a few that were on display and here's what I found... After setting all phones to full brightness, turned off True Tone and Display Accommodations, I noticed that all the phones that had this slight pink hue towards the left appeared to be a bit brighter, had more contrast, and had better whites than the phones that didn't have this issue.

The other phones had this awful green/blue/yellow tinge to them, so I decided that I'd rather have a brighter more vibrant looking display than a greenish tinted one. I even set the Display Accommodations on green/yellow tinted phones to see if that would correct them, and while they looked a bit better, they were still dull and dingy looking compared to mine. My display downright pops when I have my preferred Display Accommodations set.

I also noticed that the pink hue varied from phone to phone on the display models, and mine is clearly not as bad as the ones I compared them to. Also, I noticed that mine was a bit brighter and had better whites, so again, I am not sure if I want to start playing the lottery. If I get one of those blue/green/yellow tinted phones, I'd have to keep swapping.

I know Samsung is the only supplier for the iPhone X (not sure if that was confirmed), but looking at all these display models, it makes you wonder if another supplier is behind the green/yellow tinted phones, because they aren't even remotely close to the ones with the slight pink edge hue. Even the color shifting is different from what seems like two different batches (with variations in both batches)

If Samsung is indeed the only supplier, then they have some major quality control issues as these inconsistencies are ridiculous. Unless Apple is using an anti-reflective coating (or some other overlay) from two different suppliers which is changing the panel's overall color-tone and tint (and color shifting) on the phones.

Thank you for the info.

I am curious what your display accommodation settings are. Please share!!!

Cheers,

Here are the settings that work best for my eyes, and for my iPhone. Keep in mind, all displays are different, so you have to play around with it. I am very sensitive to any display that shows even the slightest amount green tint, so this setting corrects that (for my eyes). Basically it amps up the blue and red a bit. I know when I hit the sweet spot when the gray text bubbles are a true gray and not green/blue (again, everyone's eyes and displays are different).

By the way, I never use Auto-Brightness and TrueTone only exaggerates the side pink hue (in my opinion), so that is always turned off as well.

There’s no conspiracy – Samsung are definitely the only supplier.

I wasn't suggesting that there was a conspiracy, I am saying that the differences between the displays are so drastic, it's hard to believe they are actually coming from the same supplier. And while Samsung may be the only supplier, for all we know, the panels could be made in different factories (to keep up with demand) which might be producing different quality displays (even if they are within spec, on paper).

Since no one will ever know what the process is, and how these behemoth companies with many moving parts operate, the drastic variances between the OLED panels from one phone to the next certainly can make one wonder.

Also, it's a bit rude to roll your eyes at someone, especially when they are politely contributing to your thread, and trying to help. In hindsight, I should have posted my findings in the 50+ page thread where concerned users are comparing the drastic quality differences between their displays on their thousand dollar phones.

I received my second replacement today, and this one doesn't have the pink border. Also, it doesn't have any large gaps around the screen, and no severe banding. All in all...I'm happy with this one. :)

Did you just bring it to the Apple store to get a replacement? Mine has a slight pink hue and also has a loose/rattlely mute button. I don't know if those two issues alone would make them give me another device. The pink is much harder to notice in a brightly lit room (usually Apple stores are very brightly lit)

Mine is the same pink hue left side, I don’t like it but from other side this unit has bright screen, zero yellow or green issues. Speakers are not rattling and battery life is superb. It’s already the N series phone (new but replaced), my first was defective (rattling speakers, loose lighting port and yellow stain on display).
I keep this one, not worth to pull lottery again

I got my first replacement in the Apple store. That one had a pink border, and the gasket around the screen had sharp edges. It also some pretty severe banding. The second one was replaced direct from Apple. As I have AppleCare+, they set up an express replacement for me. This involves them putting a hold on your credit card for the full amount of the handset so they can send a new one, then you get 10 days to return the defective handset otherwise you'll be charged. I had to send pictures of the second handset before they would set up the replacement so they could see the defects. I had a lot of banding, poor uniformity, a pink border around the screen, and also a large gap at the left and top.

My new one has a slight wobble to the mute button, but as it's still got a nice positive action, and everything else is perfect, I'm not gonna worry about that.

Mine is pinkish around the right side of the phone. Man, it sucks that iPhone X QC is this bad. This reminds me of Nintendo 3DS screen QC, and having to pay over a grand for a lottery? I’m going to send mine in until I get that perfect white. Why? I read off my phone a lot and of course I’m going to notice it every time. Never had this issue on iPhone 7 Plus or even SE(thanks to LCD being better with colour uniformity) but still...

Have exactly the same issue here. Quite a strong pink tint near all the edges and if to angle the view. Will try to get a replacement today.

IMO, it cant be a display issue, when you turn off true-tone there is no more pink hue whatsoever (at least on my phone)... it's definitely a software thing.

Heh, I spent 200 earlier this year (great deal actually) to secure a NA yoshi green amazon exclusive 3dsxl specifically with an IPS top on eBay.

The bottom touch panel I don't care about (dual IPS) but boy
Oh boy did that make a HUGE difference in blacks colors and viewing angles from the TN panel N2DSXL I had before that (everything looked washed up) for the top

Even tho 3ds resolution still low

That one sucked!

The pink stays on my phone – it's just less obvious.

probably too early to call, but i just updated to 11.2.1 and so far i don't notice the pink... it was always very apparent on the left side of my keyboard, not seeing it yet!

You're kidding yourself. There's no difference whatsoever.

All day I had the very apparent pink glow on the left side of my screen, quick pic shows absolutely no pink now... Been using it for about a half hour and have yet to see the pink.

Mine looks exactly the same as it did before. Of course there’s no software fix for this.

Plus, I can clearly see a pink tint on the left side of your screen.
