maybe my eyes are failing me... but the pink was very apparent to me (and annoying) before the 11.2.1 update. Since then I can't see it (i noticed it every single time i was typing a text message -- the gray really turned pink on the left side). I'll update this post in a few days, but for now i'm very happy!!

All day I had the very apparent pink glow on the left side of my screen, quick pic shows absolutely no pink now... Been using it for about a half hour and have yet to see the pink.

Sorry mate, but I can totally see the pink tint around the edges in that picture.

same here pink sides is gone.i think they did it om purpose cause people complaining on bluetint when ship

Pink edge person here reporting in!
Looks like the 11.2.1 reduced my pink tint, but didn’t quite eliminate it completely.
At any rate, I’m excited to have any improvement. Will report back after a day and say whether I still see it enough to be annoying!

A bit of follow up. After about a day of usage, I still think that the 11.2.1 update reduced the redness by about 75%.
However, I noticed that in Settings > General > Accessibility > Display Accomodations, that Reduce White Point was toggled on and set to 80%.

Anyone else with a pink-edged screen have this setting turned on after the 11.2.1 update as well?

Heh, I spent 200 earlier this year (great deal actually) to secure a NA yoshi green amazon exclusive 3dsxl specifically with an IPS top on eBay.

The bottom touch panel I don't care about (dual IPS) but boy
Oh boy did that make a HUGE difference in blacks colors and viewing angles from the TN panel N2DSXL I had before that (everything looked washed up) for the top

Even tho 3ds resolution still low

That one sucked!

That’s why I’m holding myself back from a 3DS, since the Switch is all I need now :D

On another note, the new update doesn’t completely rid my screen of the pinkish edges but it does reduce them to a tolerable level! It’s noticeable at some places still, though.

That’s crazy

Don’t see how that could reduce pink

It's all calibrated according to 2 color "sliders". It takes a perfect balance of the 2 sliders to create true white.
-WARM/COLD a slider than moves from blue to orange.
-HUE (Green/Magenta) a slider than moves from magenta to green.

Adjusting those sliders will give you perfect white balance. However, if the screen changes color balance when you tilt it then it's not much help. I think that's the problem that is facing the OLEDs.

haha, nobody believed me when I said my pink went away.... it might be there a little bit, but i'd say I have to really, really look for it after the 11.2.1 update! I can completely eliminate it by putting a blue/yellow color filter on with the intensity set all the way low, but it makes blues a bit too saturated for me...

Still almost no one believes you. My phone is exactly the same as before the update, and so’s yours.

That’s, like, three people.

And it wouldn’t matter if it was 300. You are absolutely kidding yourself if you think a software update has ‘fixed’ your screen. It just hasn’t.

Explain how software updates are fixing the Pixel 2 screen issues then?

Because it’s not in any way the same issue.

How would it be possible to take the pink hue out of specific sections of specific screens on specific iPhones with a software update?

Particularly given that I have just such an iPhone and the update has made no difference to it whatsoever.

This is ridiculous...

Its not fixing it, its simply hiding it with color profile settings.

My pink tint is bad and I used to color profiles to mask it a bit. Its def not fixed, just hidden.

It’s not even doing that.

Turning Reduce white to 35% took away a ton of the pink. So yes the software can mask it.

Im guessing Apple could release a software fix for it by adding filters to the sides/top/bottom. But Apple does not do that.

While the update didn’t completely eliminate the issue with the screen’s edges, I’m glad that it is now tolerable enough that I don’t notice it that often anymore. I don’t know how the update changed the screen, but it did, in a really subtle way. I can still make out the pink from the right side of my screen if I look closely and quickly from left to right, but for my regular reading, it doesn’t bother me that much anymore. I’ll still get a replacement though.

Uneven screen uniformity is a fairly common defect. Either return or live with it. Do whatever will keep you sane. I went through several MacBook Pros and iPads before I found my goldilocks screen. I've never really had a problem with iPhones, with the exception of dead pixels.

I don't believe a software update could have eliminated your non-uniform screen either. Unless there's now software calibration that can target a specific region of your screen in which case how would it know where to target relative to your screen? If anything, the update could have been a color profile adjustment skewed to counter the pink, but that's still the whole screen. It's most likely still there, just not as visible.

My iPhone X had pink tint on the right side and I couldn't stand it while reading anything with a white background. I took it back and exchanged for another one which is way more uniform that I don't notice anything anymore. It still have a very thin pink tint on the edges of all four sides, but that appears to be normal with these screens.

Ob the keyboard of my X, I can see that the letter ‘P’ and ‘L’ are fairly pink in comparison to the other letters but again, 11.2.1 SOMEHOW did something that makes the pink tolerable. I don’t know what Apple did, but now that I think about it, this kinda bad... since the pink is so faint, I might not be able to get a replacement for it..

and compared my X next to a few that were on display and here's what I found... After setting all phones to full brightness, turned off True Tone and Display Accommodations, I noticed that all the phones that had this slight pink hue towards the left appeared to be a bit brighter, had more contrast, and had better whites than the phones that didn't have this issue.

I agree. The ones that seem to have a pink hue seem to have much better whites than the ones that don’t.

I don’t know if they can software fix this. Someone said Samsung did this on their phones in the past.

This is really one of the things that once u see won’t be able to un-see

Actually that exactly what Samsung has done you can adjust the edge hues... Read up before jumping to conclusions, it's 100% possible to tweak parts of the display via software.
