I don't believe a software update could have eliminated your non-uniform screen either. Unless there's now software calibration that can target a specific region of your screen in which case how would it know where to target relative to your screen? If anything, the update could have been a color profile adjustment skewed to counter the pink, but that's still the whole screen. It's most likely still there, just not as visible.
My iPhone X had pink tint on the right side and I couldn't stand it while reading anything with a white background. I took it back and exchanged for another one which is way more uniform that I don't notice anything anymore. It still have a very thin pink tint on the edges of all four sides, but that appears to be normal with these screens.
