Trouble w/ Dictation on Pages

I have the dictation function turned on, and works well on the net. Yet when I go to dictate on Pages, it wont even pull it up... I hit the double function and I just get a thud sound... Any suggestions?

I have Pages 08 could this be why? On the edit drop down I have the bar that allows me to turn dictation on, but it is grey and not black...

It has been pretty accurate for me I'm speaking this as the TV is on in the background

Dictation works quite well, using it now.

But your mileage may vary, I have an English accent but Australians find it hard to use.
