Is there a way of getting notifications for Junk Mail? Currently I need to go into Junk Mail to see if there's anything in there.

I have a Hotmail account added to Mail.app. It’s set to push notifications.

Settings > Passwords & Accounts > Fetch New Data > {choose the appropriate account in the list} > ‘Select schedule’ should show push and then put a tick against the appropriate mailboxes you want.

I have ticks against Inbox and Junk and receive notifications when an email arrives in either.

Thank you Paul. That's absolutely brilliant.

It’s getting worse! Now I’m getting notifications for messages I already read and deleted almost a half hour prior.

I had the opposite today on reminders. I was constantly rescheduling or “remind me later” a lot of reminders today on my Mac and they all synced across to my iPhone. They didn’t sync instantly, but they did sync.

And went back to pot again as of yesterday!

Is it possible that Apple has problems with iCloud Mail too? When I’m using this account with other apps like Outlook they are suddenly stop looking for new emails. Edison Mail is better but one time it took 10 minutes until the mail arrived. But at least it works better than Outlook or Gmail.

Unreal that Apple has both created and allowed this issue to thrive for so many years. It's beyond embarrassing. I honestly don't know why people stick by them so blindly in the face of such atrocious service. Since I moved to Google/Android in 2017, the worst case scenario I've endured is to switch my phone off then on again to resolve some bugs. I have to do that maybe once a month. I'm astounded that the stock "reset your phone via iTunes" solution is still taken seriously. Who on earth has the time to go through all that every few months??

It hasn't been years - only since 13 came out. I think it is some bigger I/O issue that just isn't easy to fix since it may involve base coding for the chips in the newer phones.
I agree it is an embarrassment that such a key application doesn't work right

Today MacOS mail is returning deleted emails to my inbox immediately. Delete them and empty trash real fast then they start reappearing in my Inbox. What next!

I restarted the Mac (new 16") and that did not help. Then suddenly about 2 hours later mail just started working properly. (deleted emails staying deleted) No idea what happened.

Respectfully, yes it has. I last had an iPhone in 2017 I think and I suffered for 3 years in Mail whereby it wouldn't send a single email. Every message went to Outbox and I had to go in and send from there. It's useless!

Not saying there haven't been problems for some people in mail but the general issue of mail not showing up even when notification indicates - is an IOS 13 issue.

Notification behaviors for Mail have been fundamentally broken since iOS 11 (swiping to clear one notification within a large group often blows them all out at once instead). It’s persisted for me through 3 generations of iPhone now.

Didn't receive e-mail today...i sent a test from another account and still nothing in my box.

My girlfriend send me 2 e-mails this morning...nothing...

I used to see the notification on my mail icon, open Mail and immediately see the new messages. Now I have to open it and wait for everything to refresh. Is that the problem everyone is talking about? It's pretty annoying. Also, sometimes it does update correctly in the background but 9 times out of 10 it doesn't.

That is definitely one of them.

Running iOS 13.5 beta 4, I’ve been consistently getting push notifications on both my iPhone 7 and iPad 6th gen for my IMAP account. Previously they’d only come sporadically to the iPad.

So it’s a step in the right direction. However, I still have the problem of having to manually refresh the inbox for the messages to appear.

It’s clear to me by now that they’re incapable of fixing that. Hopefully it will be fixed in iOS 14, but I’m not holding my breath.

Embarrassing, Apple.

For me, Mail isn't so much the issue. I don't mind waiting a few seconds for mail to download to the phone. But Reminders not syncing definitely is an issue. Having said that, the last 2 days, Reminders have been syncing. I did need to wait for some of them to sync - this usually took about half a day, but they did eventually sync.

Both my iPhone and iPad get stuck on "Checking for mail..." on my primary Gmail account, been like this since 13.0. And now after 13.4.1 my iPad refuses to mark mail as read when I open them, across all accounts until I restart the app.

What's going on over at Apple?
