So Mail is received instantly and downloaded in the background, so that when you open the app new emails are ready and waiting? Also, Reminders sync between Mac and iDevice?

I am gmail, so 15 mins fetch.
When a mail arrives, I click the notification to view the email content instantly. If I go to inbox first, it takes a moment to appear.

if I wait a few seconds before going to inbox, it is there (don’t have to wait a moment for it to appear).

Thanks. I think I'll live with mine as it is as just don't have the patience to do a reinstall.

I believe it’s push which is still foobarred, or at least the troublesome one. Glad yours is still ok.

The only thing I needed to do (after restoring from backup) was enter security codes for my cards stored in Apple Pay and re-log into my banking apps.

I’m happy to hear that people have had success with restoring from iTunes, etc. I’ve tried all of that, with the hassle of adding Apple Pay cards again to everything else under the sun.

As for me, from iOS 12 to iOS 13, the reliability of the Mail app has gone from 99 percent to near zero. I’m not the only one. And Apple is not going to acknowledge it.

Id give a steady “boo” at the WWDC this year (is it even happening?) when they transition between iOS 13 and 14 in their presentation. I’d feel like a chump if I were to clap; Apple has really screwed its customers over and are offering us a hearty $&*# you by not apologizing for it.

So did you do a clean install first and then restored from backup?

I did ‘restore’ in iTunes on my Mac, which downloaded the full iOS file and installed it on the phone (which also wiped the phone). Then, while the fresh phone was still plugged in, did a restore from backup in iTunes (a backup I did a few hours before)

I should say that, although it placed all the apps in the correct position in my phone, they all had to download again. It still had login data for each app though (banking apps needed login again though)

Brilliant. I'll give this a go next week.

Mail is getting less reliable for me. I didnt have any huge issues recently.

But now Im seeing emails from hours ago popping up; just saw 1 from an hour ago and another from 2 hours ago from a different gmail account. And they are not the same email account, so its clearly a mail app fetching issue not an account issue.

Most are gmail accounts (no real huge issues with Outlook.com on push). All gmail accounts are set to 15 min and fetch double-checked that too. Have good signal and on wifi so not a connection issue either.

Anyone else find it impossible to get mail previews on the lock screen? For me 3D touching a notification causes an endless loading spinner but if I tap into the mail app the message loads immediately.

I know I'm late on this, but I get the same problem - the Mail notifications show previews just fine, but when I 3D touch I just see loading. The exception to this is when I unlock the phone by Touch ID, so I can only assume this is some kind of security measure. Maybe this isn't an issue on phones with Face ID because the phone is anyway unlocked when you're looking at the notification?

This morning Reminders seem to be syncing very well between Mac and iPhone! And, Shock! Horror! For the first time in ever, Calendar Snooze is also syncing between the 2 devices!!!

I’m happy to hear that people have had success with restoring from iTunes, etc. I’ve tried all of that...

I’m just wondering how many people reported "successful restores" on the day or day after they restored it though? Why I’m wondering is because from what I’ve seen, my device always worked perfectly in the first 24 to 48 hours after restoring it. After three to five days though, the same problems reappeared again. So there’s this false sense of "success" immediately after a restore that everything’s been fixed when it actually hasn’t been.

Restoring and not using the Mail app at all, using the Gmail app instead, has allowed me to avoid the Mail app delay issues but also resolved most of my memory management issues as well, since I believe the memory issues are originating from within the Mail app itself (which mirrors somewhat with recent news about how the Mail app can be hacked, causing a memory leak with it).

And as expected, half way through the day both decided to no longer sync!

Glad to know I’m not the only one. Just earlier today I posted about this issue.

I will say, a tip from someone was to change my email to fetch, reset the device and then back to PUSH. After doing so, thus far it is working as it should.

My email is an Outlook.com Exchange account.

I was bored out of my skull earlier so tried something different.

All my Reminders are currently under my .Mac account. So I setup reminders under the Reminders heading on Mail on my Mac. The Reminders here did cut across to my iPhone, but it took over 2 hours to cut across. And then, if I select remind me later on my mac (5 minutes, hour, tomorrow etc) this didn't cut across to the iPhone.

It was worth a try I guess!

I've got to say with Gmail - I receive email notifications quicker on my gmail account than I do on my iCloud account. How odd for this to happen on an Apple device!!!
Sorry for the offtopic again. I’ve downloaded the Gmail app, enabled background refresh and notifications for it but I’m never getting notifications for my non Gmail mail accounts. Waited 15 minutes. Nothing. Apple Mail did work this time.

Is there a way of getting notifications for Junk Mail? Currently I need to go into Junk Mail to see if there's anything in there.
