As a multi iPad and Android owner, i'll say this. Android looks like a more refined next-gen mobile OS than iOS. Since using iOS watching apps crash and burn (Safari, Mail) I have yet to see Android crash post JB. KK is a rock solid OS and every default Android app has not crashed once.

iOS has mimicked Android and now Android is installing more useful features and looking even better. I still dig the iPad and iOS but it's no longer a lock for me when choosing a tablet. In fact i'm also leaning on an N9 over the Air 2 or Mini 3.

Can some one show an example of the side by side? Nexus 9 has me intrigued and if it does multitasking similar to my Note 3 that might just seal the deal. I haven't heard of this from Google.

Not sure why people get bumhurt because you are preferring this, as if it is a personal insult

They sound like Missionaries from several centuries ago. No, screw your religion even though you believe in the same God as me. Cults vs cults.

So true, they provide comedic relief to the thread lol :p

And I'll be getting more stuff done on my productivity device instead of all this back and forth, double home button pressing business.

I still laugh that people ignore the gestures on the iPad.....

No double tapping, unless you want to go to an app you haven't used in a while.

If you're simply switching back and forth between two, just four-finger swipe. It's pretty simple.

I still think we're gonna see some iPad specific features at the keynote today. We'll see.

Oh, I 4 finger swipe. But that does no good when Safari constantly reloads. It's a PITA and inferior to simply working in 2 apps side by side. I'm really hoping we see iOS 8 come with iPad specific features today. It's certainly been far too long since Apple makes the iPad feature set slightly different than iPhone so it can use that screen real estate more effectively.

I wonder why Apple hasn't implemented the gestures on the + surely it is big enough?

The same sentiment as many on here, I think Android is great for smartphones and phablets but is still someway behind for full fat tablets.

I'm going with Nexus for my tablet and selling the iPad Air. Why?

Multi-user accounts and side by side apps. Goddamn it Apple. All that space and you don't use it.

Very cool. I hope you'll share your impressions of the device, when you've had a chance to use it a while.

No luck @ Best Buy this morning. Biggest BB store in Baltimore "has no idea" when they expect a shipment. :(

I grabbed a 16gb black this morning. My location only had a few available.

One can check their website and its availability via zip code search which I did this morning.
It will not tell you though how many are available. I do not think anyone preordered it or I probably would not have been able to purchase one. The employee was not able to find it initially looking through where tablets are stored, he ended up going to the rear of the store where stock was kept.

Right off the bat the device requires a 296mb firmware update. No telling what it is for, doing the app updates now after that completed.

More later.

Just checked online and now it's saying 16GB black available at said store. Not sure how much I trust the website, especially after the botched Moto 360 launch. Thanks though. Enjoy!

I didn't read the comments, but this is what the verge said, "With the Nexus 9, Google attempts to beat the iPad. Unfortunately, it falls short, and in many places, it doesn’t even keep up."

such in depth technical writing........ /s

The CPU apparently benches alright. Though the whole package is a bit meh. Sounds like Nvidia should have figured out how to go quad core for their first AMR64 chip...
