Let me ask this question to everyone in this thread:

If apple is the industry leader and the great industry innovator as they are made out to be, why are people surprised or sour about others following suit?

That's what it means to be a leader, no?

Imagine a world where nobody copied. You must be aware in such a world you iPhone wouldn't be what it is today.

We all lose when competition doesn't copy and try to one up each other. It happens both ways (I'm betting this point has already been made ad nauseum already in this thread).

If apple is the leader you all proudly make them to be, then apple and its fanbase has to accept the responsibilities of being a leader. Others will follow. They are wise to if they want to stay competitive, just as apple wisely follows trends, designs, features, etc. when others make it popular or lead in their own respect.

This is how competition and businesses work anw it is seen nearly in every field; not just in smartphones.

Looking forward to people's answers...

Also, anybody see the htc a9?

Lolz.

If you want to get mad about copying...

I think you all miss the point. Yes manufacturers copy one another. However, this post is about the extreme lengths Samsung goes to when Apple are concerned.

Selling a similar color is not extreme.

Extreme is making a mini-tablet like Samsung's, especially after your CEO claims you'd need sandpapered fingers to use that size.

Extreme is making phablets like Samsung's, especially after your CEO claims that smaller is the perfect size and puts out ads touting one-handed usage on a tiny screen.

Every company... even Apple... responds to the market desires of consumers, and popular features and colors. As someone mentioned, it's the same with cars. Or shirts. Or shoes.

If you want facts, Samsung have produced many pink phones in the past for their other models. But the above is blatant copying of Apple.

Yeah, it is. So what? It's making sure that if someone wants a popular color combination, they can have it.

Apple did the same thing with the Apple Watch. Samsung had already done a pink gold watch with white strap a few months before Apple revealed their watch. Should Apple have not used the same color combination simply because Samsung did one first? Of course not.

Ditto for colors on the iPhone 5C. Xiaomi was killing it in China selling colorful phones six months before Apple's 5C was ever revealed. Should Apple have ditched the 5C colors just because Xiaomi was already selling such? Of course not.

Great post kdarling.

Andres cantu, how "sad" are you about apple copying?

The industry in general is progressing this way, where manufacturers will have no choice but to copy each other to stay relevant and competitive. And naturally so.

Don't know why it's "sad" one way or the other. It is in fact the opposite of sad. It means more competition and more options for the consumer.

Also, it's common for Samsung to release new colors of their devices mid cycle. They've done it before, including a pink note 4.

I guess to sum it up, the point is: everyone copies. Sometimes even blatantly so. So what? They all have to. It's a wise business model to meet demand.

If their previous technology is so good, why did they remove it and are now planning on incorporating a 3D Touch-like feature to their next phone? They're gonna steal the 3D Touch feature even if their previous ones did similar things, so that's pretty sad. They should have at least tried to prefect theirs first.

Hows it copying if they already had the feature previously, but it just didnt work as well. The word you should be looking for is "improving" not stealing. They cant steal a feature they previously had.

Where's the sadness for live photos being a blatant copy of HTC's Zoe feature?

And what's worse is Tim cook claiming there's been nothing like this ever before.

Either he's living under a rock or straight up lying for marketing purposes. Hey, so be it. You're doing your part for your company. And apple adding new features to the iPhone? Great. Never going to argue against that.

But where is the sadness for this? Andres cantu? More blatant copying? iPad Pro, anybody? Stylus? The keyboard (hello Microsoft).

If copying makes you sad, you must be getting really depressed in this thread. Hang in there.

Samsung have had pink phones before. Of course they are trying to cash in on the popularity of rose gold but Apple were not the first to have a pink phone n

Because you seem awfully mad that Samsung made a phone some lame iPhone color to help sales in SOUTH KOREA.

I don't get the vibe of OP being "awfully mad" whatsoever. However, I do get the vibe that you are in max Samsung defend mode with your childish response. Act your age.

Who had NFC and mobile payments first? Not iPhone.
Who had a large display first? Not iPhone
Who had a notification pulldown first? Not iPhone
Who had quick toggles first? Not iPhone
Who had a live photo feature first? Not iPhone
Who had 4K video recording first? Not iPhone
Who had a stylus first? Not iPad
Who had the smart watch first? Not Apple

And you're upset that Samsung made a pink phone?

You forgot force touch, fingerprint sensor and mp3 player.

Apple almost never comes out with anything "first".

Was just about to post this. The Note 4 came in pink, S4 came in pink, S3 and Note 3 came in pink. And, I'm pretty sure a search would show you other phones they've done in pink.

It's not Samsung's fault Apple is trying to pass pink off as rose gold.

Really? We have already said Samsung have produced pink phones before.

Are you guys really that intellectually challenged?

Go back and play with your rooting or whatever you lot do.

That was after the silver iPhone 5. Try again.

So a company isn't allowed to refine and improve their product until they get it right and it gets released to market? If Samsung already was working on 3D touch, but they didn't release it, they were copying? That's moronic.

And not nice try, but hit the nail on the head. Not only the color, but the design, antenna lines, etc. Man, you couldn't copy more if you tried, well they did. But you know silver phones have been out for a LOOOONG time, at least what 20 years or more? So yeah Apple being the first with a silver phone... not so much. But nice try, well not really.

If you didn't know the TV programme - this image of Al Bundy looks like he's about to bate one out.

But where does that leave Orange ! :( :(

I'm for more orange phones. It's my favorite color. :) I think Sony did it well here:

Wait a second, the lack of brain cells is getting a bit much. Samsung is releasing a "Pink Gold" phone, right? Apple released a "Rose Gold" phone, right? Samsung has had pink AND gold phones before, they are just combining them. Is it in reaction to the iPhone, obviously yes. Is it copying? Obviously no, they already had the colors and their new color is a DIFFERENT color than the iphones. If anything Samsung was doing pink phones WAY longer than Apple has been. Can a mod change this post to read "Apple copies Samsung pink shade"?

As for rooting, I can't because I'm using an iPhone.

WE can't say who was working on their 3D Touch first since we don't work at Apple or Samsung, so I'll leave it at that. Congratulations, you got yourself a tie on that one.

But what about S-Voice and the swipe fingerprint scanner? Samsung is more of a trend follower than Apple is. Samsung has copied LESS than Apple but copied more of the BIGGER features. You know this is true, it happens after every "S" iPhone. Plus, everyone else took multitouch and NOBODY can deny that was a game-changing feature. That is why I side with Apple, though I can still admit they copy many times, too.
