I see, that would be at least 1 useful thing. Did they add any more options in CC or just made it look different?
I guess the days where we used to get tons of improvements and cool new features with a major iOS update are pretty much over.
This seems like pretty much nothing a year later and a new major iOS update.
Apparently you can customize it now.

Now where have I heard of doing that before? Oh right…FlipControlCenter

I like that feature.
But in reality it feels like an iOS 10.4 update than a major iOS upgrade.
Judging by previous years this is a let down imo.
They could have done so much better.

No group FaceTime call, no dark mode , no new cleaner notification center , no drag and drop for iPhone , no picture in picture feature, no split view feature for iPhone, no new dock for iPhone, no new and better installing or uninstalling interface.

Yeah.

Pretty much nothing there that screams "I don't NEED to jailbreak any more!!!"

Spot on, this seems more like a 10.5 update, than an all new next gen iOS release.

I think once Tim Cook steps down and whoever takes over, maybe the innovation, and truly new things will come back from Apple. For now Tim Cook is there, not to rock the boat, and keep the shareholders happy, and make the iPhone good enough not lose existing customers, but also don't go wild with new things that might scare away it's grandparent and teenage audience.

As is iOS 11 is a major disappointment, because it doesn't even look or feel like a brand new OS for the new generation of phones. It seems like a point release at best, not a full new version number release. Really shocked at the little to no updates, and zero major overhauls desperately needed for iOS. There's a laundry list of things people expect to see in iOS already, heck just hire the Jailbreak developers, and give us the top ten JB tweaks, baked into stock iOS, that would be HUGE news, and much welcomed, but would have the polish and stability overseen by Apple themselves.

Each year since iOS 7 (when the current dock was introduced) I hope for a new dock. Oh well, maybe next year...

It feels like more or less what iOS 9 was to iOS 8.

That's funny.

Because in that context iOS 8 was the same to iOS 7 and iOS 10 was the same to iOS 9.
Not quite. iOS 8 had quite more to it given the whole introduction of widgets, third party keyboards, and all of that. And iOS 10 had some notification redesigns and other things that made it a bit more of a change (even if it might not have been as much in the end). Some updates have more noticeable changes and/or larger impacting ones, while some are more on the tweaks and enhancements and are perceived as smaller type of updates. In the end, it really doesn't matter if it's going from 10.3 to 11 or 10.3 to 10.5 or something like that, it's an update, whatever it's called.

I would argue that iOS 8 reintroduced widgets. Widgets were introduced in iOS 6 so the fact that iOS 8 brought them back I don't consider to be something new.

And yes, while there were and are new feature differences between them overall the UI look did not change very much.

Well, iOS 8 opened up widgets to third party apps, which was a pretty big change as far as how much third party apps could do (similar to third party keyboards and the like). Opening all that up in iOS 8 was a rather significant shift in iOS.

There was a ton of chatter on the big websites, saying iOS 11 expected to get a refreshed new UI.
Maybe stop trusting rumor websites?
What exactly do you want, round icons instead of square? Does that make you more productive? The current UI is beautiful and will be refined every year for a long time.

iOS 11, a decade in, the 10 year iPhone coming this fall was their opportunity to completely innovate and revamp the Springboard and turn the smartphone world upside down.

Instead they essentially gave us 10.5. The iPad app switcher is decent, the Rolodex/Cover Flow app switcher that didn't change on the iPhone is horrible. Some sort of live tiles scrolling home screen would have been great. Or something we can't imagine but they can. I would love app centers that are entered with 3D touch and then apps within that that can gesture to and 3D touch to further commands or just launch.

Where is Siri Scripts? Let us record voice commands, like "Hey Siri, turn on receiver" and then we record an app launch and series of taps that it executes for us. There are many repetitive tasks that Siri Scripts could automate for us.

So many other areas for improvement. Not stupid apps within Messages and a new App Store. Really that is a garbage innovation. Garbage.

The current UI is old and haggard. Icons and folders of icons where the folder gives no immediate visual indication is horrid and has been around too long. iOS needs a new Springboard and a new way to access and enter apps. Grids of icons that run together almost require static home screen backgrounds to make sense of the icon images unless you just memorize where every app is located or spotlight into them in which case why use icons.

I hate to break it to you all that wanted an entire revamp, but you are in the very small minority. Apple's goal is not to please the 10%, but to please the other 90% who are not power users like yourself. There is a reason that Apple has such a high custom satisfaction rating. They know what their user base, at least the majority, wants.

Anyone who says that some major feature won't be tipped off or shown till the 8 media event is wrong. The 8 isn't getting some magical new software feature weeks before its release when Apple won't have it out there for rounds of beta testing first.

Pretty sure features like Siri weren't out in betas before they were announced along with a new iPhone version.

Not to mention Touch ID and 3D Touch... both hardware features that are deeply integrated with iOS.

The 90% don't know what they want until Apple gives it to them. The revamp that is due to Springboard isn't a power user thing, it is a weakness of a decade old approach to the UI that works in early generations but fails now with the way the phone is used. People have too many apps and folders and using the phone's home screen(s) is cumbersome. For the regular joe and for the tech user alike. In fact the tech user is likely more adept. It is the 90% that needs it more and it is Apple's duty to innovate it and break from the Samesungs and show us the next era of UI.

We know that Apple doesn't usually work that way. Things are incremental and hardly revolutionary. OS 10 on the Mac was a big departure. There are times. This year could have been one of them. Instead they delivered 10.5 and two products that are coming in December. And to make you forget that you got nothing, they invited M.O. in to talk tomorrow. Yay.

Not quite sure if the vast majority actually have some sort of issues with how they use the phone or have too many apps and folders and finding the home screen(s) cumbersome.

Yup ios 11 looks bad.

Im hoping when iPhone 8 releases, we will know more features. Im also hoping iPhone 8 is redesigned.

I don't think iOS 11 looks "Bad." It Just doesn't have the overhauled look I think some were looking for. I think this is more of an incremental build off of iOS 10 versus a whole new operating system.

That said, undoubtedly, I think the iPhone 8 is going to have some big changes coming physically. And rightfully so, because after three your design, it's about time.

This Link was leaked by a Foxconn insider stating that this is purportedly with the iPhone 8 will resemble.
