I'm already wishing someone would write an app that would give me access to court documents so that I could replace my piles of case jackets with one iPad when i do my morning court dockets.
Buy a ScanSnap, Number 41, and scan all your documents to PDFs in an instant. Save the files it makes automatically into a Dropbox share and voila - all your court documents available on your iPad through the Dropbox app.

How so? No, really. I haven't got down to my local Apple store to test it out yet.

I actually thought it was pretty much a giant iPod Touch/iPhone when I used it at the store.

Its cool, but what the hell am I going to use it for? It has pretty much the same features of an iPod Touch/iPhone, in a larger, faster format. Though it is more portable and easier to carry around than a laptop, the feature set as of now is way more limited; in other words, I can't replace my laptop with it, but its so big why would I carry it instead of an Touch or iPhone?

I guess it makes sense for people who were interested in or were using devices like the Kindle, but that's not me. If it could replace my textbooks, I'd be more interested in the iPad, but what's the difference between just reading the textbooks on my far less limited Macbook?

I never really got the whole e-book reader thing either, so I guess it makes sense that I don't get this either.

Anybody got the Apple case??

Is it worth the money?? Is having a case is a must for propping up??

I got it. It props it up a bit for typing but it's not too much of a difference (20-30 degrees possibly). Mainly I just wanted something that will provide some minimum degree of protection and grip enhancement without completely negating it's thinness and looks. I'm happy with it so far.

I have never been happier with a new product. I love it. In fact, I am typing on it as we speak.

I'm constantly amazed by how vibrant and exciting it is to use this device!

The only dissapointment for me so far is a very minor one. I wish the USB cable were longer. I'm having that issue some are having with charging over USB so it would be nice to be able to extend it a bit to reach the adapter when plugged in to an outlet.

Cudos to the battery life though. I saw the not charging message and thought it was just a display bug because the battery bar wasn't moving.

okay for those who have seen the keynote and are skepticle and who have an Iphone... give us litterally one reason why we would want one of these 500$ units? oh and we have a laptop and a desktop...

I already bought one, it shouldn't be something you need "convinced" to buy. If you don't want/need one, then you don't want/need one. That doesn't mean other people don't want one/need one.

I bought one because I'm tired of lugging a big laptop around to do something as simple as surf and enjoy my iTunes on the go.

I had a 16g and a 64g reserved. I went for 16 because of cost. Now I wonder if I made a mistake. I only got 128 Meg of ram. Wow. I'm sure there will be apps and games that simply won't run on the 16g model. I was trying to save money. Plus the apple guys said iWork only uses about 100meg so I figured 16g was plenty. Now I'm not so sure...

But I am delighted with kindle for iPad and with iBooks. As an ereader, this thing rocks!

Well

It's not that I am disappointed it's that I spent a lot of money on it. Not credit but cash. I have the money and work very hard, but the issue is that I definitely don't need it. It is wicked rad and I am having a great time on it. When I have it landscape mode I can type about 40 words a minute. The video is awesome and the free apps are great too. In the end, I like it very much and will enjoy it a lot

I love the iPad! No disappointments here.

Sick of all the griping about flash, cameras, USB ports, multitasking , etc.
If those are important to you, and it's a deal breaker, then so be it.

My only complaint: too heavy! But I'll live. :p

Not impressed - just a large Touch, the Touch just being an iPhone without the phone. Obviously, for Apple, the next evolution of this type of product.

Wanted to see how well it worked in direct sunlight. The Apple Store person brought it outside to see. Saw a lot of fingerprints on it but can see the screen. Will probably work a lot better with an anti-glare screen protector like the one on my iPhone.

Only disappointed that I can't really afford one in today's Economy... :(

Not sure how I'll use this thing yet. Time will tell if a $700 investment was better used here than on a Macbook or something, but I think I'll be on the happy side.

Few things:
1. Wish the screen were a little bigger—the bezel is a little large.
2. It's a little heavier than expected. Not as easy to hold in hand use, especially with the Apple case.
3. Fingerprints! Gahh

Other than that, I think I'm happy...

I would think that most people who preorder a new product, without even the opportunity to read reviews and handle it, is most likely inclined to like it. (Or be very disappointed).

I'm leaning more towards buying it now. I had been thinking that the battery life was a disappointment. But now that my iPhone is less than perfect, due to my dropping it, I'm thinking that the 3G one might be worth buying. I just wish I could get it before my upcoming trip, when I'll have some down time in a car.

I'm thinking 32GB model. Not the bottom model, but I'm not even sure I'll transfer my music to it anyway. I have it all on my phone now, and I take that with me anyway.

Though it is more portable and easier to carry around than a laptop, the feature set as of now is way more limited; in other words, I can't replace my laptop with it, but its so big why would I carry it instead of an Touch or iPhone?

This is exactly how I feel with my brain, which normally operates my wallet, but somehow Apple always seems to distract my brain with shiny things and my heart steps in and takes over the wallet operations.

I will probably end up with an iPad, but I certainly don't need it.

The iPad is like a suit vest. One can have a perfectly good sport coat and matching pants and be done. But does anyone really need a vest? It can snazz things up a bit, but it's not a critical piece of clothing. Sure, you can argue its ability to keep you warm, its useful pockets, etc., but ultimately for most people it's not essential.

I'm disappointed at the lack of RAM. After seeing Joshua Topolsky's indepth review, the part where he is using safari tabs. And clicking on each one of them causes the page to be reloaded again. Not only that but the checkerboard pattern is back. I thought we got rid of that with the 3GS...

I agree but it is still faster than 3GS
