Quality control has been nonexistent at Apple for years now, and instead of getting better, it’s getting worse. I would actually be genuinely surprised if Apple were to release a major product without severe issues nowadays.

Not a single issue on my 2018 15". I feel like I won the lottery.
That's the Apple today, you order the product, wait for it to arrive, when it arrives, you start opening the box and start repeating within yourself "Please, do not be defective one, please do not be defective one, please do not be...".

Sad, but true. :(

Worse and worse.

Current list of issues:
- Throttling in Bootcamp. Yes, Apple’s patch only fixed it on High Sierra and Mojave. No Bootcamp patch yet.
- Speakers Crackling
- Bridge OS Kernel Panic (MacRumor posted an article about it last week and it is still not fixed by Apple)

That’s all within a 30 days time frame. Imagine what could come out later. We don’t even know if the keyboard condom is an actual fix or not.

The bridge os issue has been around since the release of the iMac pro. Still not acceptable.

Well, years ago OSX/macOS started ignoring user generated inputs/events -- try and do just about anything while a large file is copying -- so I guess playing audio is on its way down the kernel priority food-chain too.

Makes you wonder if Apple fixed previous issues like Staingate for 2018, which affect 2012-2017 models.

It's not just crackling in the speakers, it's crackling in any output device. I notice the same in my AirPods. Happens any time I'm playing music and then another app plays sound.

I've been hearing little crackles kinda like these videos when I stop a video or use the power button to just stop/turn off my iPad with wired earbuds. Some apps whack the system sound now to where I have to completely shutdown the iPad to get the sound back in any app. It's still on 10.3.3. I think it started with 10.3.

The sound system is now as important as the Mac mini. I guess since music is IN Apple's DNA they don't have to use their ears anymore.

I'm on a 2018 MPB 13". I had this issue from day 1. I listen to music almost constantly. Many Youtube 1 hour + mixes for example.

For me, I went into Audio MIDI Setup and changed my speakers sample rate from the default of 44.1khz to 48khz. Knock on wood - I've gone nearly a week now without crackling. It absolutely seems like a software / firmware / driver issue.

Having this (to me at least) obscure setting tweaked makes my OCD twitch. :( Fingers crossed Apple releases an update (T2 firmware / BridgeOS ?) to fix this soon.

Not surprised as the quality of MacBooks ( or at least the Pro models) isn’t the same as before anymore .
Got my 2017 15” for 6 months and it already had keyboard, battery and screen issues.

Not great to spend nearly 3k on a “premium” laptop and have to see stuff like this...

Only thing that keeps me from switching to windows, as an illustrator, is the iPad Pro

Only had my MacBook a day but no issue as of yet.....
Tested with iTunes as well as YouTube.....

I thought it was just me. I just upgraded from a 2017 mac book pro and had no issues with it. What should I do?

This is already a "deaja vu" with what happened into the MBP 2016 models under bootcamp audio drivers...then, Apple release the fix update after 3-4 weeks.

go to midi setup and change from 44 to 48 on both build in output and microphone
Apple, on all the others macs set default the 48 kHz, but some get their 2018 models with 44 kHz by default

If everyone was experiencing it, it would not be an issue but a disaster :)

An issue is not something happening to everyone, just saying...

Sometimes I wonder what would make Apple Fanboys complain, if there is anything Apple could ever do wrong to their eyes, and to think I was one of those "evangelist", thank God I grew up :D

Interesting. Whenever I see someone use the word “fanboy,” I automatically assume the person has not yet become an adult.
