Some days I feel like ditching Apple

I have been an Apple girl for many years now and own many Apple products (see sig) but lately I feel like I want to ditch Apple for good. I have had nothing but problems since I upgraded my rMBP to El Captain. I have a SP 3 and all programs run like a dream. I also enjoy using my S6 better than my iPhone I just miss the "sync ability" and ease in getting music onto it like the iPhone since I mainly use iTunes.

I've been a long time Android user. Had the iPhone 5S for 2 weeks and iPhone 6 for 2 months but ended up going back to an Android device.

Been using iSyncr for years now. It syncs with iTunes on my MBP without issues. In fact, doing it over wifi was quicker to sync than my iPhone 6 at times. I have the legacy version of the app which still works well.. but I believe they updated.

Do what you want to do, lol. El Capitan should be stable enough soon. Just because you have had a few bugs on it doesn't mean you should abandon apple for good.

The Surface Pro 3? Also another fantastic device. Why not have a middle ground? Is it illegal or morally wrong to have an iPhone and Surface Pro 3?

I echo your sentiments for a variety of reasons. But as far as music goes you should try iSyncr from the playsyore. It lets me sync all of my iTunes playlists to my Note 5.

I like my SP3, and its a great computer, but i do find the lack of ecosystem integration a bit jarring from time to time.
I'm at the moment firmly entrenched in iOS so Macs only increase that integration.

That is my Mac can take my phone calls, I can easily iMessage on the Mac. On the SP3, there's none of that. Yet, I do find the SP3, a dream to use and everything is stable.

I ditched Apple years ago, when I realized the walled garden and customization was never gonna happen. You have to like it's Apple's way or no way. Uh ok, screw that, and I left for Android, and couldn't be happier.

Right now the Note 5, Nexus 6P, and a ton of other phones are so much better than the iPhone, ugh, I hate just saying that stupid name with the "i".

Here is what I did copied my itunes music to Google play music via mac, also to grove music via one drive, you can ditch apple eco-system entirely.

I never had any issues with Macs or Macbooks, nor any major or plenty of minor issues. Just rare minor issues at most. Same goes for OSX.

iPhones/iOS .... I just can't deal with it's restrictions and tight way of operating.

the ease of getting music onto an iPhone.. lol, is this a wind up.. and you bring iTunes into the mix.. and this is somehow better than simply dragging your entire music collection on a finder window when you plug your s6 into a computer... any computer come to that...

You can use both!

I dont have as tight of integration as possible with all Mac or all whatever.., but I find that ios, Android, and Windows can work together well enough for my needs. What I lose in integration I make up for in extra features because each ecosystem has their own unique niceties

I joined this forum way after I left the iPhone. My last iPhone was the 3G, and haven't looked back, except a brief stint with the Jailbreak 6 Plus this past winter, which lasted 30 days, and I happily ran back to a Nexus 6.

Don't think I can ever go back to Apple, zero reason to do so, unless I want to downgrade and live in the past with an outdated OS. I just don't like living in the " walled garden " and companies that don't offer any customization whatsoever. It's their way or the highway, ok, then I choose the highway to freedom.

But I still keep an open mind, waiting for Apple to make the iPhone better, hoping and waiting, and it never happens, but maybe some day it will, and I will try it again;

- Something so basic and simple as just allowing me to move my icons to be placed anywhere I like them. Gosh dang that was shocking on the 6 Plus iOS 8 still didn't have that most basic of options.
- LED notification light, like both Blackberry and Android has
- Widgets or Live Tiles on the home screen
- Better notification system, and no double notification areas
- Wireless fast charge
- OLED display
- Dual Speakers
- A frigging " Back button " for the life of God already
- Get rid of the big fat home button
- Cut the top and bottom bezels in half
- Allow " Themes "
- Third party apps to be set as default
- Allow me to drag and drop files from my computer onto the phone
- Haptic vibration on the keyboard and others areas on the system

The list can go on and on, what I'd like to see added to the iPhone. And Apple can probably do it better than BlackBerry and Android.

I wouldn't say dangerous, more 'utterly pointless'.

As you said though - buy what works for you. And remember what works for you doesn't necessarily mean it works for everyone else and vice versa. It's why we have choice in the first place

Agreed, don't be afraid to try new devices from different OEMs---just be patient and be prepared for some growing pains. I see so many post/threads of people trying Android, Windows, etc and after a few days they give up. You really need to immerse yourself and put some serious time into acclimating to changes.

I remember when got my first Mac, a black Macbook. I loved the physical hardware but had some serious growing pains adjusting to OS X. There were plenty of times I considering throwing in the towel, so to speak, after using Windows my entire life. But I stuck with it and eventually got over my reservations. Had a very similar experience with my first Android phone, a Galaxy Nexus. Took quite a while for me to fine tune my Android experience to fit into my own personal ecosystem but thoroughly enjoyed it...after some work.

It could be dangerous in the sense that you'd go out of your way to ignore other products because they're not made by your favorite company, causing you to miss out on something that is potentially better and maybe overpaying (in Apple's case)

I joined the forum after I got my iphone from my old blackberry storm. I previously had an ipad 2 I got right after it was released. It was a learning curve for sure as the blackberry let me do virtually anything with the SD card. itunes can definitely be improved in the regard, but it's not the worst thing in the world.

As virtually my entire community, with some exceptions, have iphones, we enjoy facetime, imessage, icloud photo sharing etc. Whatever perceived deficiencies in IOS, having most of my family, friends and clients on iphones makes up for it in other ways. Other than that we are not tied to apple, all windows and some linux computers.

I'm not loyal to a brand, I am loyal to what works for me. A much better thing I say.

I've tried iOS, Android, Symbian both touch screen and button based, Windows mobile in the old days on an IPAQ and a Wi does smartphone, Windows from 95 and even 3.1 to 7 and 8, haven't updated to 10 yet as havnt got round to it.
Also OSX since what must be 8 or 9 years ago now? And Android since 4 ish years ago.
I've even dabbled in some free Linux before.

Currently I am a Android tablet iOS phone, iOS iPod come Christmas, and OSX and Windows 7 user, mainly OSX though.

I recently sold my 6S plus, MBP and Apple TV4 and bought a Nexus 6P, Surfcase Book and Xbox One.
I'm only three days into it but I'm already finding myself having more to do.
It's different in some ways but what pushed me over was iOS 9 and El Capitan. I hate the UI designs and the fact that I got a mobile device with more usability and higher spec screen that apples equivalent for far less money.
I'm also really liking googles and microsofts services.

I pretty much left the Mac from '98-'01, only coming back after OSX. Apple's OS and products had just fallen too far behind and were too overpriced, back then. But with OS X Apple went from being behind Windows to ahead of it, overnight. Still, I didn't jump back in with both feet until Apple's x86 adoption and subsequent Apple Ecosystem stuffs.

I have an SP3, and like it. I like some of the things MS is doing. Then again, I love my little rMB and my iMac 27 as well. But I'm certainly no fanboy. I use tools that I enjoy, and that can make me more productive.

We'll see what the next couple years brings. If Apple doesn't have a hybrid device, in the next 2 or so years, I may dip ditch my MB for an SP5 or 6?

You won't leave until you absolutely frustrated only then will you have the motivation to make the necessary changes. This is common in the Linux world people will change and it only lasts 6 or so months because the were frustrated with an aspect not the whole thing. I would never trade Apple for MS that's just jumping from the pot into the fire.

One word overpriced, with apple mentality of selling iphone with $200 cost and sell over $600 days are over. While competitors can do better with better specs and price. That says it all.
