The one of RuneScape is such a head scratcher... Were you playing the new one or the old one?
Yes, I was getting around 18-25 when it first launched, then the processor smoothed and I saw a average of 25-30fps. Changing it to low didn't help much more and only added another 3-4 fps. Only if I shot rockets or made a bunch of explosions did the FPS drop to like 8-10 fps area. You mention that GTAV runs at about 25-30 fps on medium settings. Can you confirm? That one is pretty demanding, both CPU and GPU wise.
I don't have that one sorry. Can you check out Kerbal Space Program?
Def a worthwhile upgrade. Im seeing a majority of my games actually playable now, which was my main beef with the 2015 version. Not that I'm using this as a gaming machine, I have a system with sli 980tis for that. I did however want to be able to play some games on low for trips.
I was going to wait until the rMBP refresh, but didn't want to set myself up for disappointment, and my iPad pro wasn't cutting it as my only mobile device. And the surface pro 4 and surface book had their fair share of glitches and low battery life.
The throttling is different on this machine, id say it starts slow the first minute but then evens very nicely and cools while running long term.
Gaming wise, yes. Actually its pretty significant in Photoshop and InDesign from what I'm seeing as well. If it were me, id probably either see if I can exchange or resell it and buy the 2016.
It should run Crysis pretty well. Remember this is a game from 2007 era.I think it's time someone answered the question on everyone's mind:
Will it run Crysis?
As a tip, you can buy legal discounted copies of windows 10 at this site - http://microsoftsale.org
I really suggest installing bootcamp for most any game for better FPS.
Im questioning it's trustability... Did anyone here actually buy Windows from there?
The New one I guess. I doubt the old one will even stress it if the new one runs at 25fps.
I guess it's healthy to hear some somber reports as well so we don't start hoping for miraclesI guess it's time to report back. Alright, overall, I'm disappointed in the 2016 model (in comparison to the 2015 one). Basically, here are the things. For the first few minutes, the new Macbook perform about 50 % to 100 % better than the 2015 model. However, after 10 minutes (or less) or play, things get coarse. I'm getting about 10 % more on the 2016 model but that's it. Frame rates are a little bit better on the 2016 Macbook than the 2015 one. I suspect that the thermal throttling kicks in so there's minimal difference in GPU performance.
Skyrim is a nice exception though. Since the game is not very demanding in terms of action/cpu, it maintains its 30 fps on high. But overall, this is not the case. It seems like the thermal envelope on the 2016 is the same as on the 2015 one.
