I guess it's time to report back. Alright, overall, I'm disappointed in the 2016 model (in comparison to the 2015 one). Basically, here are the things. For the first few minutes, the new Macbook perform about 50 % to 100 % better than the 2015 model. However, after 10 minutes (or less) or play, things get coarse. I'm getting about 10 % more on the 2016 model but that's it. Frame rates are a little bit better on the 2016 Macbook than the 2015 one. I suspect that the thermal throttling kicks in so there's minimal difference in GPU performance.

Skyrim is a nice exception though. Since the game is not very demanding in terms of action/cpu, it maintains its 30 fps on high. But overall, this is not the case. It seems like the thermal envelope on the 2016 is the same as on the 2015 one.
I have a few questions. First is what Windows 10 version are you on? If you have the 1511 version and didn't patch, your system will over heat like crazy with the Compressed memory glitch.

Also did you have the m5 or m7. My m7 did the opposite, it was actually the same FPS or laggy for the first few minutes, then leveled out higher than the 2015 model. It kept better FPS during an hour of play and cooled down compared to program launch.

What do you mean with 1511 version and patch? What do I need to look out for once I get my macbook and install Windows? And could you perhaps check out unturned of you have the time?:)

Well after my experiences tweaking the surface line to get 8 hour battery. In version 1511 there is a sleep compressed memory glitch which sends your CPU usage up to like 79% overheating and throttling it.

When I first booted Windows it started happening on the MacBook as well. So make sure you get any windows updates and let it index for about and hour or two before playing.

How much better than the 2015 model in terms of percentage change? And if possible, what did the 2015 and 2016 get FPS wise?

What did you tweak to get the battery life? Im not so advanced when it comes to that kind of stuff. And what you're saying is basicly, install windows, let it update if there is any available and then let it sit for an hour or two?

For the MacBook you can just enable the battery saver mode in the right hand notification panel in Windows 10.

The surface book and pro 4 were a bit more complicated due to processors that used fans, the 35000 mwh battery, and hkey settings that Reenabled max processor speeds. You don't have to worry about that though.

The 2015 for me got roughly half the FPS in all games I played. Par example Smite on low got me 15-25 FPS on all low, where the m7 2016 got me a solid 58-65 FPS on low.

I appologize if I spam this but I was curious as to see how unturned would run. That is the only game besides cs go and some other ones you already tested ill probably play on it.
[doublepost=1462633024][/doublepost]Could anyone comment on what the difference is between the m5 and m7. Not sure if im ready to spend even more money on the macbook for the upgrade..

Thanks for the advice. I believe I did all Windows 10 updates, but I'm going to double check. Is there any specific Intel driver I should use? Any other Windows settings? Also, I'm launching my games with my Windows desktop set to full resolution.

As a tip, you can buy legal discounted copies of windows 10 at this site - http://microsoftsale.org
Please provide proof that you know these are legal (per your explicit statement).

A quick Google search shows this site and business model is shady as heck. Even if you get a working product key, most likely recycled, someone else could be using it. Apparent you get 0 refunds. And on Twitter they refuse to reply to anyone.

If you don't work for said company I suggest you edit and remove any reference as it seems you are advertising a potential scam to the forum community. And you wouldn't want to do that right?

I've bought about 3 keys from them and have had no problems in a year. It would only be advertisement if I benefited from it, so it's much more just a source that I've used. Use at your own risk I guess, hasn't effected me.

I would just download the Intel had drivers from Intel themselves, and make sure it's set to balanced. Just check for that memory compression cpu use, if it hits 76% just do a quick restart. It seems to only happen coming out of sleep or hibernation mode on the Skylake chips.

Definition of advertise:
To describe or draw attention to (a product, service, or event) in a public medium in order to promote sales or attendance.
To say it would only be advertisement if you benefited from it is false. More so you're advertising at worst a scam, and at best an unreliable source of a product that is illegal and unreliable in regard to its utility and support.

I asked you to provide proof (not demand, I asked with a "please") that it was legal, and you refuse.

You're willing to advertise a website, claim that it's legal, but unwilling to either defend the claim with substantiated data, or at least make an edit to "buy at your own risk".

Some users here are young, gullible, etc and would be under the impression that your source is a legal, supported vender. I had to do research to not just find out otherwise, but that you're lying. This is not legal and/or supported by Microsoft, or even the sites owners.

Pretty please be nice to the community and make the edit. If not, that's fine also. The world moves on.

Anyone tried Dark Souls?

How about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl?
If the MacBook can run Stalker with dynamic shadows on, I will eat my hat, socks, shoes and pants.

I'll test it out. Think I only have the cd rom version of that game. I got a feeling it will run at 35-40fps

Tell me, are you "cooling down" your 2016 Macbook? Mine seems to throttle quite a lot after a few minutes so it cannot sustain high framerates for long. Also, whenever there's a lot of action (moving characters or objects), framerates are dipping badly. Thanks in advance.

Nope, no extra cooling is being used. The m7 doesn't seem to change in longevity. It seems to start off low and stabilize after 1-3 minutes and cool.

Did you perhaps find the time to check out unturned? Thanks anyway for providing us with these results!
I don't have unturned. Someone else may have to test it.

Sorry for the shameless bumping and nagging, but could you pretty please test the oldschool Runescape version? It's a huge difference from the new one. If it runs nicely then I'm going to buy the Macbook :)

Restested Runescape, found that members were only allowed to run fullscreen. So I was running it at 3k at 20fps. At 1440x900 I was getting a steady 40-50 fps on high. Which means old school unescape will probably run at 100+. So I wouldn't worry about it.

Unturned ran at 31FPS steady with every thing set to high except foliage and AA. You can set the water to ultra and still get 29fps.

Thank you:) oh btw. Does the macbook use all of the power you get with the m7 while playing games or would a m5 get similar results? Leaning more towards the m5..

For the files I handle the extra 0.4 GHZ and the 200MHZ faster graphics chip are worth it to me. I think its like a $150 difference. Usually if I'm spending that much another $150-200 is worth it to me to know I have the best.

I received my Rose Gold Macbook with m7/512GB. I wanted to share my gaming results in bootcamp as well as take any requests for game title fps.

As a tip, you can buy legal discounted copies of windows 10 at this site - http://microsoftsale.org
I really suggest installing bootcamp for most any game for better FPS.

All game FPS is tested at 1440x900 resolution and High Power Mode.

Smite Low - 56 FPS - Med 43 FPS - High 33FPS
Minecraft Max Solid 50-65 Fps
Ark Survival Evolved Low 20fps
Counter Strike Source and TF2 any where from 150-200 FPS on High
Rocket League - Low 60fps - Med 45fps - High 28 Fps
Left for Dead - 60-150 Fps - All settings

Thanks for this helpful post. For Left 4 Dead, all settings were what? And was this Left 4 Dead 1 or 2?
