Just had a good look at the manager's iPad launch date plan book.. I know there were similar images posted on tuaw, but I didn't see any that listed the cases. Looks like Targus and Incase will be introducing cases on launch day.

I checked employee pricing, and unfortunately the iPad SKU shows a costs of $0.00, which means it will probably be $499 for everyone. The iPad dock however was only $24, so I'll get a bit off on that.

Just thought I'd share!

What are the two lower areas for? Are they some kind of Best-Buy extended warranty?

Those are Geek Squad warranties and what not.. the only one that is worth wile is the $129 ADH BTP plan, which covers all hardware (I'd go through Apple within my one year anyways) and one year of accidental damage coverage, which covers anything except full water submersion. So, I might buy my iPad from my work and get that accidental plan (I'd get it for like $70-80 or so), and 'break' my iPad right before my one year is up and end up getting a second generation iPad for 'free.'

Well crap, I went and bought an Incase 10.2" netbook neoprene sleeve from Best Buy thinking that was the closest thing I could find to hold my iPad other than the Apple case. According to the dimensions of the case and iPad there will be a little wiggle room. I wonder if the Incase cases will be neoprene sleeves or something else.

StBDawg- Honestly I'd hold off on returning that sleeve until we know exactly what it is. Judging by the price points, the two $39.99 items are very likely to be two items that differ in color only; most likely a physical case. Not sure on the $49.99 option, maybe an iPad specific sleeve?

P.S: I own that same Incase sleeve (get that for $12 :p) and I really like it, may even consider that for my iPad if I don't see a better alternative.

I bought the black one with the white interior for my 13" Macbook Pro Unibody and I love it. So I was hoping they'd make one exactly the same to fit the iPad but when I saw the Netbook one at Best Buy it looked around the same size as I thought the iPad would be so I bought it (it was $32.99). Then when I got home I found the dimensions on Bestbuy.com and compared it to the measurements of the iPad and was disappointed to find out its not as close fit as I originally thought. The Slashgear Hands On video on Youtube makes it look bigger than it really is.

the only thing I see flawed is, WHAT IF they dont introduce iPad's within the year is up?

So I am noticing on the paper the Apple APP for 79.99. Doesn't APP stand for Applecare Protection Plan? I thought it was supposed to be 99.99?

looks like only if its between 0-399$

youd ACTUALLY be looking at 129.99 for 16GB-32GB; 149.99 for the 64GB

..BTP

whats the difference between BTP and APP?

I believe BTP is Best Buy's own protection plan and the APP is the Apple care. That's my guess anyways.

I was looking higher up on the list right under the Apple iPad dock. I already preordered my iPad and bought Applecare and it was 99.99. I'm wondering if they changed the price after the preorders started?

Also, if each store is only getting 15 (5 of each model), what if Apple tells them they won't get another shipment in before the 11th? Does that mean they are holding the original 15 and won't be selling them on April 3?

I have one coming to my house April 3rd...that being said I will more than likely return it and get one from BB to have that accidental damage warranty...with 4 kids who will be using it all the time that warranty will be worth it...if nothing more than peace of mind.

The BTP plans are like Applecare, except through the Geek Squad. They cover hardware, excluding accidental damage/user abuse.

The APP options are 'Accidental Protection Plans,' which covers the accidental damage/user abuse. There are no AppleCare plans included on that list, as Best Buy does not sell AppleCare.

@puppyflightclub- I guess I'll just have to figure something out then. :p

@GermanSuplex- No, they all will be sold on the 3rd. There will not be any holding, and no one really knows when the next shipment will come in. I'd bet that the '15' is a conservative number, but realistic for smaller stores. Tuesday is a truck night (at my store), so we may get more in then.

I've been chosen to help setup the iPad display seen in the planogram, so that should be exciting!

you seem like a best buy employee. can you give me any tips/exact info on the whole "break the iPad and return it for 2nd Gen model" thing that people have been talking about?

is there any flaw in that?

*edit* seem? WTF am i saying, you just said you was setting up the display. Shame on me.

What city/store in TX?

Basically, what people tend to do is buy Black Tie Protection plans (with iPods, laptops, cameras, etc) and once they are no longer satisfied with the product (and it is no longer carried), they end up breaking the product (intentionally) to get a later iteration. For example, the iPod Touch. They buy a 2nd generation with a protection plan, and once the 3rd generation is out they 'break' their old iPod, knowing the 2nd generation is no longer in stock, thus they are given the monetary value for their purchase, thus being a ~$50 upgrade fee to the next generation of iPod.

And jedolley, the Heritage Trace Pkwy store in Keller/Fort Worth, TX.

one year, two years?

Well with products that are updated yearly like the iPod Nano/Touch, the one year plan is sufficient.

Well I think we all know that it is inevitable that Apple plans to update the iPad with a 2nd iteration (see all the video conferencing/camera hints), so even if one isn't out within a year, you could always just smash the iPad and get a brand new one (in box) and sell it at more than you could sell your used one for.

I won't buy an extended plan usually, just wanted to say that using a warranty to get a free unit when you break it on purpose is what drives up costs. Basically, it's stealing. I'm not the moral police for anyone but this is not something I would do personally

I really don't want to camp out for this thing... I'll drive past the store at midnight, then about 4am, then 6. I'll wait at 6am even if I'm first in line, I don't plan to wait if there are people waiting prior to 5 or 6am.

I've got a feeling I'll drive past the store at midnight and see a dozen people already lined up. If that happens, it may be a relief because I'll go straight home and order from Apple.com and it'll get to me when it gets to me.

Still haven't decided if I want this thing or not. I want to handle one first, I am assuming the Apple store will be crazier than best buy so maybe I will just go there.
