The three-dimensional increases in size are putting me off too. Weren't these the same guys that gave us the ZL? Phones are getting too damn big.

Of course, the specs are amazing. But if Motorola can squeeze an even bigger battery into a more compact frame (Droid Maxx), I'm nonplussed as to why Sony couldn't, or choose not to.

I suspect they're a bit too obsessed with the waterproofing. I get the feeling that's the main reason why it's bigger.

Looks awesome, but am not sold on Sony's software support though.

Hopefully, the screen is significantly better and is sold on AT&T this time.

On a side note, why did Sony decide to show this off on the same day as the Samsung event? The GN3 will be the star of the show. No doubt.

Looking at the pictures PhoneArena posted comparing it to the GS4, I'm a little disappointed. Maybe the camera will redeem it, but this phone is big and slightly bulky, and the screen's quality is very questionable. The viewing angles appear rather atrocious, and Sony's software has never done wonders for Android or its devices.

I love the design and build as well as dust/water proofing but a phone that size should have a much larger screen.

Agreed, bordering on phablet size with smartphone size display. Bummer.

It really is.

I need a phone to save me from the HTC One. Still the best phone to date I've ever owned, but I want a better camera already.

I cannot stress (actually, I can, because I've done it a number of times already, but to hell with it, I'll say it over and over again) how crappy the camera is on the One. Low light pictures aren't even good.

Supposedly the G2's camera is very strong. Battery life too. Size is an issue, again.

The physical size is too much for me although it is a beast specwise and I can appreciate the design.

I Dont think I'll be buying non nexus/ Google edition phones though.

If there ends up being a GPE of the Z1, I'll still consider it. I want to hold one in my hand to know for sure I can't deal with the size. It looks daunting now, but it's always looked daunting every time I upgraded to a larger size device. It was true of the HTC One, too. Of course, every time I go larger, it does push that threshold more and more.

So, we shall see. We shall see.

Indeed, if there is a gpe of the z1 I may have a bit of buyers remorse on my Ge S4.

I really wish Sony could have smashed it into a smaller frame, but I too would love to see it in person. Sony has a good third party Dev community too but, I love me some native stock android.

WOW!!!

That phone almost doesn't fit in my hands!

And the screen just looks terrible to me. Won't get a Sony phone until they improve display quality. You can see in the picture how the One's screen is much better.

Really? I can't see the difference in that picture alone. All early impressions that I've read so far say the screen is very nice and an improvement over the first Z.

: shrug : Will have to wait for official reviews.

No OIS is disappointing and no 4k video. I still think the camera will be better than the 5s, but if it's not significantly better I'll go for the 5s.

Even from that quick comparison i can tell the viewing angles of the Z1 are not that great compared to the HTC One. What a beautiful display.
