What's especially pointless about pulling and censoring SP now is that several years ago, an episode of SP with an uncensored image of Muhammed aired and is readily available, even on iTunes right now.

Death threats seem like a good reason to me. Get over it.

If you cave to any threat, then you are weak and dumb.

I don't know why they are going against our national's view against terrorism, we do not give into terroristic demands. Never. But Comedy Center is a little b**ch

Really? According to who? Sorry, not all of us follow Islam and in countries with a right to free speech can say what we want and offend who we want. You may not like it, so turn the channel. Are you trying to justify death threats when someone says something you don't like?

The whole point of free speech is that no one has to fear for their life for expressing an opinion or making a statement criticizing religions, politicians, etc. Maybe we should all issue death threats when we hear something we don't like. Grow up.

This is going to be one hot selling DVD :)

In theory, I agree with you 100 percent. But it's a lot easier to be brave with other people's lives. Imagine if your children's lives were the ones threatened over a cartoon. What would you do? Is a cartoon the cause worth dying for?

I just can't believe they went so far as to pull the 200th episode, which was not even the big one in controversey off iTunes and it had already been on there for awhile. I wonder what made them pull the 200th episode off.

I'm pissed I didn't get to see it and probably never will.

maybe Apple pulled it

These people threatening are Muslim radicals, not Muslim. It is true that the prophet of the Islam faith must not be portrayed anywhere, not even by Muslims themselves. It is considered offensive no matter how he is portrayed.

Then again it's the 21st century and these things should not such a major issue these days, but extremists of any kind always ruin the world for the rest of us.

South Park controversial episode 200 pulled from iTunes?

Just a quick post to my fellow south park watching Mac buddies...

Episode 200 is no longer listed on iTunes (via iPad).

How's this for free speech...

I'm gonna take a wild guess here...

Episode 201 will not be posted anytime soon...

Our only hope is that they will censor the episodes and re-post them...

Wow, think about what we have lost here in america...

Free speech... Free muhammad...

It really is a sad day that we have lost or at least have this imposed limit on free speech today...

There have been a few good posts here and on other blogs, news sites etc...

The 20 year old kid that posted the threat was interviewed by FOX and quoted Osama and what not...

Here they are enjoying the freedom and right that we have but we have to walk this fine line along "their" prophet, but they can bad mouth whatever they want be it Jesus, buddha, etc...

People like this need to be sent back to their desert.

Let free speech live!

For those of you who think the episode should have aired despite the death threats, put your money where your mouth is: fire up Sketchbook, draw a picture of Muhammed, and post it in this thread along with your name and address. If you don't have the guts to do it yourself, then you shouldn't criticize others for backing down.

How much are you willing to pay me to do this? Because in case you weren't aware of it, the creators of South Park aren't making their shows for free.

This isn't just about Muhammed. This is about free speech and the limitations imposed by others for fear of offense.

So dude if you want to loose that 'freedom of speech' then go ahead back down, he'll let us censor your posts, cause they might offend others...

Please back down 13 year old, go take an American history class, and think about how life would be without your little computer to post on forums like this...

Oh and Matt and Trey have their money where their mouth is... Comedy central are the ones that don't.

Additional: I suppose you could always sell your 3GS, iPad, Time Capsule, MacBook Pro, iPod touch, and move to the middle east or somewhere else that doesn't have free speech. Go for it...

I'm with CC on this.

Freedom of speech is not an excuse for provocation. South park pretty blatantly provoked the muslim community, and they got the expected response. Just because you are allowed by law to say what you like, doesn't mean you always should.

Even US courts take criminal actions in context. "Victims" who provoke assaults on themselves are not blameless, even if what they did was perfectly legal. This is not to absolve responsibility from the attacker, by the way.

I'm all for free speech, but with it must come the courage for us to exercise it when appropriate and the discretion and pragmatism to refrain from inflaming our enemies for no benefit. My point was that I don't see people coming out of the woodwork John Hancock style by signing their names to something that could very well get them killed, so those people shouldn't so quick to criticize Comedy Central for not being willing to do the same.
