After using silver MacBook Pros for years, I prefer the space grey color. I find it much nicer and as long as I have the chance I will always prefer space grey to silver.

they both look great but I chose silver this time around
Space grey is kind of getting old to my eyes (seems like that's been the 'default' since 2016) and the new mac pro is offered in silver only. If I end up getting that I'd want my new MBP to match.

I picked a silver 16” MacBook Pro.

I was tempted to get space gray but had an encounter with a space gray mbp and it did not wear well. The edges had nicks all around the perimeter on the display and the base.

Hard anodize usually wears well but when you get small nicks, they will break through the anodize and reveal the natural aluminum underneath.

Space Gray may look cool but with wear and tear Silver will look better.

how did you get nicks? my 2016 I had for 3 years never had any nicks on the edges and the finish seemed really good compared to my 2011 silver that had nicks all over the front edge I'm assuming from sweat as I never dropped or hit it on things.

The space gray that I saw the wear wasn’t mine. However, I own a 2013 silver mbp that shows similar wear. I haven’t dropped my machine to get these nicks. The nicks and wear that I have on my mbp is from regular handling. Had it been space gray, the nicks and wear would have shown up silver in contrast to the space gray as shown in a picture posted earlier in this thread.

I know this debate has been had over the years since Apple introduced Space gray into the line up, but I was curious where folks are at now for your MBP color preference?

Since space gray was introduced I have gone with that color, but more and more I am digging the silver design with it's classic look and contrast. Maybe I just wanting a change, but I am thinking of switching to silver for my 2019 purchase?

Where do you stand ?

Wow! You really amped-up the brightness, making the MBP look almost white. I wish it looked that way in real life.
This proves just how much the color impression depends upon situational lighting. The space grey MBP looks amazing in the Apple Store, with its showroom-quality lighting. But, when I brought one home last year and set it up in a room with natural sunlight streaming through the window, the grey looked so dull and drab it actually made me feel depressed!

I returned it and got the silver, which can look plain under ceiling lights, but looks FABULOUS when the sun hits it!
