4G + WiFi, tap to wake on, low power mode off, Hey Siri off drains about 6% over 9 hours.

So I suspect the same settings as above, with tap to wake off, would drain about 2-3%.

With WiFi off, 2 bars of LTE (I’m away from home) and all apps left in the recent app tray from 11:11pm to 8:17am my iPhone 7 went from 95% to 88%. So I’m hitting a pretty consistent 7% drop over 7-9 hours of standby with my 7 on 12.1. Roughly 1% or a little less per hour. At least it’s consistent!

But yes I think iOS 10 was a little less. Or it’s also possible that maybe they have tweaked the algorithm of how iOS checks the battery level and it’s still losing the same amount as before but more accurately displaying what the battery level actually is now. Who knows for sure. Apple.

Try once pls. Need to confirm. :)

You tried:

WIFI BT 4G all on

Tap to wake off

Low power off

Hey Siri on

And you lost 2% right?

I tried it, I went to sleep at 51%, woke up at 49%

You tried:

Screen time on?

WIFI BT 4G all on

Tap to wake off

Low power off

Hey Siri on

And you lost 2% right?

Does Hey Siri affect overnight battery drain? Can you try with it on?

You should try the same settings as me, but turn Hey Siri on, and report back. If you use the same settings as me and you experience a different amount of drain, then there's something wrong with your settings/phone/iOS installation. I'm perfectly happy with my drain (or lack thereof) in standby.

I don't really want to activate Hey Siri as I have to go through and set it up with my voice. I don't even have Siri activated on my device as I don't find it useful.

Haven't seen any battery drain issues. Saturday I was up at the cabin and didn't use the phone all day other than snapping a couple photos. Still had well over 95% battery that night (not a strong cell signal up there either so that should have cut into things even more).

I have been also experiencing terrible battery life on my iPhone 5s. 1-3% drain overnight and a good 5-10% drain when using it for about 10 minutes.

I'm surprised no one here has figured out the battery drain issue. Let's be real for a moment. I have owned every version of iPad's and 4 generations of iPhones. Each device barely lasts two years because of battery issues and other hardware problems and failures such as touch screen not responding. Apple is just like cars manufacturers. Planned and programmed obsolescence resulting in future sales. They can deny it all they want but with the recent battery/software fiasco, I think it should be fairly obvious. More specific to the issue of drain, since batteries have a finite number of charging cycles before bad things start to happen, it would seem likely to me that it is a programmed obsolescence process. Don't get me wrong, I love the Apple ecosystem as far as os's and hardware but I walk into it eyes wide open that it is pre-ordained that replacement for iPads and iPhones come every two-three years. I can almost set my watch by it.

Every Apple device I own has lasted beyond my expectations. I currently own a mid 2014 MacBook Pro which has never had any problems and still runs like it did when I took it out of the box. I owned a 6s Plus for 3 years, which felt incredibly fast until the day I sold it, and was very reliable hardware wise. I also just picked up an iPad Air 2 which runs iOS 12 just like any brand new iPad would, which is amazing for a 4 year old device.

Everlasting batteries do not (currently) exist. It is impossible for a lithium-ion battery to last forever due to the chemical nature of them. It is not a "programmed obsolescence process", quite frankly that is a ridiculous statement to anyone who has an understanding of how battery technology works.

Ok then Apple should make the battery replacement process more "amigable", nowadays iphone batteries are literally "glue" to the chassis... but whatever Apple always be Apple.

Unless people use wireless charger.
You can place phone upside down and Hey Siri will not activate or search and significantly less battery drain.

Anyone bother to check battery health? % means nothing without comparing it to total mAh.

For iPhone X 99% means 99% of 2716 and so on. Regardless of whether your actual mah initially was higher/lower than 2716. And so on.

Anyway, last night over 8 hrs.

Tap to wake on

Hey Siri off

Screen time on

iPhone X - 72% to 66%.

Tonight I will try with tap to wake off.

Your battery charge percantage relates to current total capacity, not factory capacity. Battery heath plays a huge part. Others complaining here could very well have 80% of their original capacity. Standard current drains will propagate to higher total percentage burned with a lower total capacity.

Tried this again:

Tap to wake off
Wi-Fi off
4G off
Bluetooth off
Screen time off
Hey Siri off
Low power mode OFF
Background app refresh off

iPhone XS Max 50-49%

Seems like there’s no issue with the phone entering the idle state. Wi-Fi/4G on seems to drain more battery than it used to in previous iOS versions.

My iPad Air 2 with 100% battery health also sometimes drains around 4% overnight while on Wi-Fi. Using iMazing, I can check current mAh usage remotely via Wi-Fi. I should expect to see between -5 and -10mAh, however sometimes it will get stuck at -80mAh, which correlates with the iPad draining 4% overnight. A rogue app, maybe?

I’m talking of battery health. Not battery charge level.

Can you try with everything on?

Including:

Background app refresh
Screen time
4G Wifi BT

But

Tap to wake and hey Siri off low power mode off

My iPhone 6s on iOS 9 dropped 3% after almost 11 hours.
Oddly, my iPhone 5c on iOS 9 only lost 1% after the same 11 hours.
Same settings on both.

Tap to wake off
Wi-Fi on
4G on
Bluetooth on
Screen time on
Hey Siri on
Low power mode off
Background app refresh on for some apps

Lost 1% per hour during night on Xr.

I was ill for some time and did not use Xr during the illness. (Only some sms and calls but by iPad or Watch). There was about 25% drain per 24h day.

That’s pretty bad. You should be losing about 0.3%/hr max IMO, from what I experienced with old iPhones.

Even on my XS Max I probably lose 5% overnight maximum, which works out at about 0.6%/hr.

Yes, it is bad. It was the same on my previous 6S. I set up Xr as new but problem still remains. I hope that next update will fix it. Remember days with iPhone 6 (especially iOS 9) and lose of 1-2% per night.

Edit: I think that 25% per day with doing nothing is pretty bad. Without this drain it will be 2 day phone for me.

It sucks man, but at least we’re not seeing a 30% drop overnight like some people. Anything under 10% is manageable and not really much of an issue. Of course we need a fix, but it’s not the end of the world.
