I am very encouraged to know I’m not the only one that feels this way.
Seems that Picard and other modern S.T. 'inspired' shows are far removed in storylines, and cinematography and have to have some sense that the Federation is weak, failed, doomed etc. before they can let the stories unfold in the show. Some facets see counter to what was supposed to have changed in human kind with respect to the original S.T. show. Basically, nothing has changed.

Exactly. This bothers me. Star Trek has always been about seeing what the BEST of humanity has to offer, despite its failings, issues, and threats to its existence.

I was almost offended (ok offended) by the first season of Picard as a HUGE Trekkie (I've got a picture of Picard and Kirk on my wall behind me right now). And I liked the 2007 Trek movies. lol.

The Star Trek universe is so much darker and less appealing to me. The first season of Picard definitely broke me.
I don't have problems with some facets of S.T. being dark. However, some are not storylines or subplots that should go along with those timelines but well...maybe our timeline. While the earliest parts of Discovery put off some for changing Klingons, they had a storyline with depth and texture. Only later did they do again the lame - destroy the Federation or make it weak and jump us into the future which evidently, nothing or no one evolved and in fact, it was an homage to yet again - our time. (Not social issues exactly but narratives and agendas). I want Star Trek and hope that Pike's S.T. show won't succumb more than it has already.

Yeah I enjoyed it too. Kinda wish they could have started it with this strategy but I guess all the old crew wasn't available. I think the success of Strange New Worlds helped them realize just how much we love the older Treks!! Even the music was better than before!!

This scene sometimes comes up in my mind.

At the beginning of the clip Worf is offered prune juice and calls it "Warriors Drink" :)

I don't watch The View because I have better things to do during the day, but a couple of weeks ago, Whoopi dressed up as Guinan and made a makeshift set of Ten Forward on stage, and brought out Stewart, Frakes, McFadden, and Dorn.. first thing she did, was made him a glass of prune juice, and left him the carafe!

I loved “Yesterday’s Enterprise,” it is one of my all time favorite Star Trek episodes.

It was said at a ST convention that if you look at the entire TNG series, the best episodes all featured Guinan.

Q Who.
Yesterday's Enterprise.
The Child.
Best of Both Worlds.
Time's Arrow.
Measure of a Man.

Everything Whoopi did on the show made the show gold, and everyone loved when she was on the set; the even better part is that she wanted to be there.

...enjoying season 3 of Picard. It looks like the Dominion is back.

Maybe Avery Brooks will do a cameo at the end. Seeing Sisko one last time would be awesone :)

I still say that they should at least say something about the launch of a USS Eisenberg, under the command of Captain Nog.

And it would be cool to pay a nod to Chief O'Brien, since he had effectively been in every premier episode of every TNS-set series. He was in Encounter at Farpoint, he was in Emissary, and I believe he was also in Caretaker, as in VOY's pilot, they were leaving DS9.

Alas, Aron Eisenberg died, so it would only be a mention.

Maybe we will see all sorts of people pop up in cameos. I'd love to see O'Brien. He's ST's good luck charm to start each series. Too bad René Auberjonois died. Odo would have been be great. Worf referenced him already. Janeway's a Starfleet bigwig, maybe she could show too. With all the callbacks, it seems like Picard is pulling out all the stops.

They should show Janeway with Barclay, and have Barclay be a bigwig at the Daystrum Institute.

I liked Discovery, though I know a lot of people didn't. But I'm OK with it. Five seasons ois a good run.

With the merger over at Paramount, media stories say all the Star Trek shows are ubder review. They better keep SNW and Lower Decks.

Ive watched all 4 seasons of Disco and I thought it was pretty Meh. I think SNW is way better. I would love to see Malalas take over Trek and do a 25th century show. I am tired of the prequels and especially trying to reuse established characters, although I think SNW is doing a good job. The ship set pieces look excellent compared to the set pieces of STD which are terrible.

Once they travelled to future, it was lore breaking for me, I know the experimental drive that occurred before TOS was lore breaking anyways but I think that just exacerbated the situation. I think the burn is an interesting arc and a fragmented federation is also a decent story line, though having the vulcans pull out of the federation seemed out character to me.

Overall, it felt that the ship, and people failed to fit in with the Pre-TOS time line and they didn't fit in so far into the future as well.
