Now see what mining is doing to GPUs and this is a missing opportunity for Apple to come up a second use of their old machines. Mac Pro 1,1 is perfect of 2X or 3X GPU rig.

Moreover MVC and their friends have kept Computer Science relevant, who in today's world is interested in HEX dump (NetKas, Rominator and 666Sheep). My last Hex dump was in 1989 or 90 before this Mac hobby.

Repurposing old Mac Pros and Xserves as mining or password hashing rigs is fun to tinker with if you have all the hardware, but there are many many limitations and inconveniences to contend with. But yeah, tons of fun if you have it sitting around.

UPDATE to MacVidCards reflash of my GTX780SC. After complaing in this forum I decided to send MaCVidCards another email and this time I got an immediate response! MacVidCards said to send the card back in and they would reflash it and refund the shipping cost. So I sent it back in around a week ago and MacVidCards already sent it back to me. I put rhe card in my MacPro tonight and viola boot up screen and Pcie 2.0. Yea!!! Shout out to MacVid Cards for doing what they do!!! Thanks for making it right and giving it another go

Flashing a GTX780, really??

THE most useless GPU to do that to, wow.

^^^^You're just a bundle of fun:oops: I have a flashed GTX 780 sitting in the box in my closet. It works with Apple drivers as well as Nvidia Nvidia Web Drivers. It's the last Nvidia card to work with Apple drivers. Actually it's not to shabby a GPU, better than the GTX 680 that everyone wants.

Well, as usual you don't get my point!
I'm saying that the GTX780 works fine without any flashing, because as you say it is also supported by the Apple driver.

So why the hell people have those flashed, is really beyond me....and also why I repeat that here, because someone who is looking for this information, is probably very glad to know there is ABSOLUTELY no need for flashing.

Except, you know, if you only want to have 1 GPU in your system and you want to see boot screens?

^^^^We all know your opinion on boot screens, you have made that abundantly clear. Others of us, me included, have a different opinion. That opinion has been explained many times. You disagree, that's fine. But, we are all entitled to our our own opinion. Let's leave it at that.

Unless your landlord pays for the electricity - you should do the math.
If electric cost is your main concern then maybe try an Abacus.:D

Choose from the Startup-disk/system preferences, you don't need a bootscreen.

As you have stated many times. But, how about now, Firmware update???? Can't update FW without an EFI GPU. So many other reasons!

Lou

hahaha, for that we use the old GT120, you shoot yourself in the foot.
So thanks for bringing back my statement, FLASHED GPU'S ARE A TOTALL RIP OFF.

you're on a board for enthusiasts of Mac Pros (presuming you use one), whose only differentiation from standard "PC" workstations is a proprietary bit of firmware / software, which allows them to command a huge price premium for the same components, in return for the convenience of macOS nativeness, and you're mocking someone paying a price premium for a graphics card, whose only differentiation is a proprietary bit of firmware for the convenience of macOS nativeness?

really?

I'm here to warn 'enthousiasts' for inflated ego's and prices.
I don't mind you buy a way overpriced item, but I do like to warn users not to overpay for something you do not need.
And I will repeat this at any chance I get, so thanks again!!
