You already know this, bartelby, <3 Nara. As in, Yoshitomo Nara. As in the maker of Sprout and other such goodies. *drool*

And thanks for the link, Blue. Too bad it's still way outta budget.

yeah, they're not super cheap. I bet there's cheaper (and still decent) ones out there. I just didn't look around too long.

we've got one of those projection ones, I should ghetto rig it™ and make it project onto a crappy block of wood. :D

thats awesome! what is that?!
It's just an alarm clock. No radio or anything. Not branded either.

Yeah, I'm curious, too, but to know where s/he purchased from. My first thought was this clock, but the one CrouchingDonkey has seems smaller. Me likey.

i would really want that!! so nice! where did you get it?

mine is just an simple alarm clock :p with bad radio...

but i'm considering using my MB as alarmclock..

Thanks guys! I just happened to see it in a shop window, here in Hong Kong. It was just a local independent shop, selling novelty items, clocks, watches, ashtrays, photo frames, that kind of thing. It looked so cool, I had to have it! It looks very convincing as a block of wood, but it's actually a plastic laminate surface. You can only tell when you get very close to it, or pick it up.

That clock you posted devilot is priced at $185?! Wow, I didn't pay anywhere near that much, but then again I think mine's a copy of that design, and not the original. But I love it anyway!

But now that I have seen that wooden block alarm clock for £20 instead of £100 (thanks iBlue!), I think I will get one of those.

I got this from the Seiko store at the Ginza in Sasebo during my first trip to Japan in 1981. I think it's on its third battery now...

When I saw it, I found that you press the top and it speaks the time. Naturally, the display model spoke Japanese. The Manager tried to get me one from the back in English, and I tried to make him understand that I could already tell time in English, so I wanted one just like the demo model. 日本語、英語、! Eigo itadakenai, Nihongo, dozo!

Yeah, their stuff is fine, no problems. I've gotten a number of things from them, including weather gear, and three or four atomic clocks for the house & office & travel. Never a lick of problems with them or their products.

Thanks for the reply.

Any suggestions for similar LED backlit, atomic alarm clocks?

Since going to uni I've become the sort of person who will press snooze repeatedly on my alarm clock until I end up rushing to get up. So when my alarm clock broke I asked for a new one for xmas.

I was given Clocky. After you press snooze once, he will wait a defined amount of time before rolling randomly away for 30 seconds. Unfortunately on his first test he rolled straight into the fireplace and covered himself in ash.

I'm looking forward to going back to uni and trying him out properly.
