All the posts about it in the Mac OS X topic in the Steam forums have been deleted, with a mod saying this:

"Link wasn't meant for public release."

Damn.

Awesome, just applied.

Did take me half an hour though, as i had remote into my vmware virtual pc at home, start vnc on my macpro and then get vncviewer to connect so i could extract the about information they ask for.

Couldn't remember the damn commands :D

i had some problems uploading too. just make sure your system profiler is in the 'mini' view and you save it as the UTF-16 text file.

Got mine in!
Hopefully they'll see my mega library of Steam games, realise I'm king of the universe and accept me.

The link most likely came from Valve's PR mailing list which is sent to selected journalists. The email stated that the link is confidential and that it is asked to not create news posts or distribute it in any other way.

Same mod said that. Still weird that it shows up when you google "Steam Mac Beta".

I wonder what they're going to do with all the submissions now? It was posted all over the internet / reddit etc.

I'm guessing they will just ignore all of the submissions. Hopefully it comes out soon though, I don't want to have to wait all month for it.

Well, they can't have TOO many applications. The windows beta was public, after all.
I am not sure about the Mac beta being limited to journalists. The link is still publicly available.

Anyway, this looks good. I can't wait to launch steam on my Macs. :)

Anyone got a reply yet, or are you already all under NDA? :D

Methinks this beta test will turn as a real bummer for us.

I think the difference is this will enable people to play (at least) the Source games in OSX, and show what games will be available when it is officially released.
The UI beta is just that - a UI. It hasn't really got any new end-user tech.
