Was just about to post this. Here's hoping my 2008 MBP (non-unibody) is good enough to get me into the beta.

Hmm, I couldn't even submit mine, even though I saved it in the right text format as indicated. I wonder if it's because I'm on a PPC chip? Has anyone else with PPC on 10.4 been able to submit it successfully?

Don't bother submitting PPC specs, it's intel only.

Submitted my info yesterday, have heard nothing about it since.

I am hoping that having a new-ish Mac will qualify me to participate in the macbeta trail, even though I am a rank beginner (somebody has to be in there running around dazed and confused!).

Well, think about it. The two most demanding games that are available for mac and steam are probably Bioshock and CoD4. The 8600 in your MBP can run both of those on mid-high settings (I've also seen Bioshock 2 and CoD6 via bootcamp running good, too). I would think that they would want to see how older machines would run their client.

the fact you have to upload a txt file of your about mac information is ridiculous. this includes ALL the information, including serial numbers, software, personal information etc.

good luck with the beta, i know i wont be applying.

If you read the instructions correctly it said to go to View -> Mini Profile. It doesn't have any information on what's installed on your computer, just the hardware and basic OS information.

Looks great, but who uses a Mac Pro at 1280x800?

I still think it's fake. What's with the bar at the top of the Steam window? And why don't any of the windows have shadows? Plus the person who posted that posted just that and nothing else, signed up just to show it off.

Yeah, I'm with you on that! :)

All the posts about it in the Mac OS X topic in the Steam forums have been deleted, with a mod saying this:

"Link wasn't meant for public release."

Damn.

I also wonder what that means for folks who were actually asked officially to submit our info ... ?

Hahaha, that's SO fake! Check out where the minimize and maximize buttons are :)

Now I feel silly. Red green yellow. Duh. Does anyone know for certain whether 10.6.3 has OpenGL 3.0? Valve may have been waiting for this update to start the beta.
