"Some" is a bit of a stretch....
[doublepost=1552070136][/doublepost]

So, you want Samsung ultrasonic fingerprint reader under iPhone display? The one that is unreliable (several presses of just the right amount of pressure), slow, and requires deliberate placement of your finger in a small area on display??

Just a quick note....FaceID unlocks even dirt and moisture is present.

At times, it is true...sometimes, iPhone owners just make me smh....
Okay 1. Does it matter if there is 1 or 100? S10 owners will only be buying 1. So not sure what your deal is

Hmm you have to look at your phone to unlock it unless you have attention awareness turned off which is unsafe while driving.

I’ve never had much luck with unlocking my iPhone when it’s flat on a table unless I lean right over it.

I have my iPhone mounted to the left of the steering wheel. I can unlock it by turning my head towards the phone, eyes still on the road, looking just above the top of the phone. At no point do I take my eyes off the road. Attention awareness is on.

Good solution, but it requires a phone to be mounted a particular location. This isn't always wanted/feasible/possible.

left of the steering wheel.
JW, is your car right hand drive?

Just observing the poll numbers. It is not scientific, it's McRumors!:)
I am actually surprised by the results considering it is an Apple-centric forum. I thought that Face ID would have a lot more votes.

I personally would prefer a Touch ID under-glass solution over Face ID on the newer iPhones, but I am not going to switch to Android to get it.

Yes I am using same response because some folks just can’t wrap their head around what sounds good on paper and what is real life....

I wish they could do BOTH so everyone had what they wanted!

I believe there are some Android people who visit here as well. Just guessing based on the amount of crap-stirring I see in a lot of threads. And those who flat-out admit to not owning an iPhone.

And have what other compromises? Samsung ditched their iris scanner. With XS so small already, do you want smaller battery? Or is having both gonna impact battery life? Overwhelmed the NPU? I don’t know. But I do know that FaceID is superior to ultrasonic FPS.

Good grief do you really care about smartphone biometrics this vehemently? You’ve gone through and quoted almost everyone in the thread that hasn’t been singing the praises of FID, can’t people have differing preferences and discuss them casually or something?

Ok........if you prefer to turn blind eye to reality.

You need to try and relax. It is not going to happen and we are just kicking ideas around.

Sure but it’s not like there are plenty of free space inside these phones.

But I get it. I too want iPhone to have 10 camera lenses and 3D projector along with being able to defy gravity if it falls out of my hand. Maybe iPhone 11?? If not I am switching to Windows mobile!! Android has no future!

It’s not about refusing to acknowledge reality, you can quote as many objective metrics of superiority as you like, and there will still be people that prefer TID over FID (and vice versa). The operational differences are open to personal preference. I happen to like the deliberate action of unlocking with Touch ID, if you prefer the more seamless unlock that comes with Face ID that’s great, I’m glad you enjoy it.

If you’re talking about TouchID on the back of phone or in front like older iPhones, sure. But the current and ONLY available solutions for under display FPS are just not good. That’s my point in THIS thread.

Have you tried both? You have not tried either.
You are correct, I have not tried either one.

My thoughts and opinions on the matter are based on how the two features work, reviews from other people, knowing my habits and preferences, and based on my experiences with similar tech.

The only reason why I suggested you to try the Ultrasonic before being critical if it is because of your post here:

BTW, how can you be critical of FaceID when you have not used it?

I find it interesting that you can't understand how someone can be critical of Face ID if they have not used it, even though you are doing the same exact thing with the Ultrasonic on the S10.

If anything, it would make more sense to be critical of Face ID considering it has been out for a long time, there are a lot of reviews and many people have used it. Being critical of Ultrasonic ID when the S10 is brand new, currently only being used by a few people, and there are hardly any reviews out there makes less sense imo.

Plenty of S10 reviews. Lol every tech site has a review on it.

FaceID is proven to be reliable, fast, and secure.

Started as a Mac forum. Honestly, there is a ton of macOS/Android users.

Yes, but you pick and choose only the negative ones to support your (ah ha gotcha) spam to use as a way to force your opinion. The fact that you can't seem to control yourself, is obvious. A person in control, would post his opinion while respecting others opinion even if doesn't agree with them. Instead all you've done is succeeded on showing how much you can't be objective. You're not clever.

If you think you're going to stamp out others opinions just because you spam a thread, just makes you look like an 11 year old internet warrior.
