This is crazy! Where I studied, the government pays for every student's tuition fees, so classroom hours are $0.

I think I paid about $5000 per year for my accommodation (nice room in an apartment of 5 shared with 4 others, with my own private bathroom). In my 3rd and 4th years of University, I went to live with my parents about 40 miles away. The Government paid for the travel between my house and the University campus each day.

I worked hard and got my degree, but needless to say our system, while very inclusive, did lead to a lot of people not having the needed "pressure" to do well since there was little financial loss if you failed.

(If you did fail a year though, you don't get to repeat for free. You have to pay the full one year tuition fees of about $1500).

The US would rather pay those that would rather not contribute to society, Welfare U.

I believe 2 colleges in Boston will be over $200,000 for a 4 year degree.

From what I've heard Sony and MS aren't planning on new consoles until 2013 or 14.

Memory is a little fuzzy on this but didnt the 360 come out in 2005? If so thats almost 10 years with the same console. I know they slimmed it down but come on, give us more powerful consoles already :)

Unfortunately Microsoft and Sony have been pushing for 10 year console cycles to be the new standard. From their point of view, it makes sense. Consoles are sold at a loss for a first handful of years, so the more time the console is on the market, the more time they have to recoup those losses. But from a consumer standpoint, it does mean that we are missing out on some new graphics potential out there.

If you want new consoles, you're best bet is to hope that whatever Nintendo announces in two weeks is a big enough hit that it forces Microsoft and Sony to move up their plans.
