Interestingly this issue never occured on my old monitor Dell U2715, using Apple's USB-C AV Adapter (usb-a + hdmi + power). No freezes at all since I got it last December.

anyone having better luck with the latest Ventura builds? I'm not ready to upgrade yet, but I'm hoping this inconvenient problem is solved eventually.

Just wanted to ask the same. Loving the monitor, but this glaring issue is getting super annoying. :(

Problems are on M1 Pro or Max + Thunderbolt connection only.
I've had freezes with my Intel MacBook Pro 16" and even with the Dell XPS 15 from work. The only usb device connected to the Studio Display was a mechanical keyboard, so I noticed the freezes immediately.

24 hours since I updated to the RC.

No USB and audio freeze yet but I won’t be confident until one week passes. Usually I was getting it between some hours to a day and a half.

Really? I didn't have a single freeze with my previous Intel MacBook Pro 16. But I didn't have the Studio Display, I have a thunderbolt Dell monitor. For me all freezes started with switching to M1 Pro 16. But as I already wrote somewhere, my fix was to separate usb lines - use monitor's usb just for a fast usb-c (ethernet) dongle and any usb2 peripheral (mouse, keyboard or Wacom) connect directly to Macbook's different thunderbolt port. Not very convenient.

I didn't have usb freezes with my previous thunderbolt display (LG UL950W) either. Not with any of the computers (Intel MBP, pc laptop, Mac mini M1) I used with it.

For me, the issue started when I replaced the LG with the Studio Display, since then I've had usb freezes with the same Intel MBP and pc laptop, and a new Mac Studio.

After 5 days using Ventura 13.1 RC there have been no audio errors or usb freezes. The update didn’t install a new firmware on the monitor so the issue was macOS drivers previously were needing fixes. The monitor is working perfectly with these new drivers.

Windows PCs are not a supported system so there’s no need for me to test that even though I have a PC with USB on the graphics card.

For those who updated to Ventura 13.1 and the issue was fixed, is it still good or has it come back? Thx!!

I haven’t seen it to date since Ventura was released. However, in addition to the OS upgrade, I changed the only usb hub that I have connected at or around the same time (little 4 port hub).

Great to hear! Could you share which trouble-free hub are you using? :)

I've been having a similar problem ever since I got a new Apple Studio Display to work with my M1 Max MPB.
I have a Sandisk Extreme plugged directly into the ASD, and 2 more USB drives into a Pluggable dock connected to the ASD. Randomly all drives will disconnect.

Running 12.6.2 (the current version of Monterey). Some pro audio/video apps/plugins aren't compatible with Ventura.
I've wasted several hours on the phone going up levels of Apple "support".
