Quick question, if I grab the 4.4 GM to compile for Mountain Lion will I be able to use the same version to compile for iOS 5?

Essentially will this replace my standard version or install as a beta version?

Apple should offer devs some sort of incentive if they submit Retina-ready 10.8 apps. Maybe waive the 30% commission for the first month or two or something. They need to give devs a good reason to get Retina apps out there quicker.

Where's the official poll for release day? lol. I call the 24th, just feels right lol.

Well, I think I may leave Snow Leopard for Mt Lion. Snow Leopard is still the apex of the Mac OS :(

Depends on what you need. Tiger is the Apex as far as I am concerned, all the power of OS X, classic environment for legacy apps, supports both PPC and Intel. This Cat had it all.

All the Cats since then have been taking away, I understand why, for Apple Legacy is a dirty word, and we should all be happy for zippy new systems, but for those of us with the odd PPC machine, Tiger rocks.

No I don't live in the dark ages, my main machines have lion on, but my PPC Macs live on in Tiger world...

So I installed Mountain Lion GM and from the regular use of it I personally think this update should be free. It seems more like a service pack and not an overhaul. I will obviously contribute my money to legally buy the update, but I really think it should be free or like 5-10 bucks.

I think what's important is that we seem to agree it's NOT Lion or Mt Lion! lol

Thus, Apple may not announce a release date until 2 or 3 days in advance, because they may not be certain that it's 100% ready until then. (It sounded to me like the GM still had some minor bugs... personally, I'm running Beta 4 and haven't noticed any strange behavior at all.)

Last year for Lion we were given just about 36 hour notice before they dropped Lion on the store.

Well since you want to get technical, new Macs will actually be shipping with Mountaion Lion. So yes Mountain Lion will be shipping to customers and stores as well as downloading.

It's funny out off all the replies I got, yours is the only one that makes sense!
