That's awesome! But just to be clear, you didn't use MVC's hack, right? You are just using nVida's web drivers and the Macmini6,2 SMBIOS? Any other thing? I'm seriously thinking on buying that exact same monitor, and I currently have a 750Ti working properly with the web drivers.

Thanks for your help.

Would steer away from 750TI. But try it anyways! Get a 760 or 770 to avoid trouble.

That's correct I have Macmini6,2 SMBIOS, and Nvidia's web driver "f" release (final) for yosemite.

I've booted with chimera, ozmosis and both work perfectly fine. I prefer Ozmosis so that my iMessage works + faster boot.

Waited weeks to get my monitor working and I've been happy this month! :)

Trial and error! MVC's hack didn't do the job. Probs corrupted the file. Had to do a full reinstall.

No luck changing the system definition to MacPro6,1 or Macmini6,2. All I get is a black screen. Apparently, the 750Ti only works with the web drivers if the definition is set on MacPro3,1

Daniyo, I know this is quite the favor to ask, but could you try testing with the iMac 14,2 system definition when you have a little time to spare? It's the only system definition that has worked for my card, and according to the apple support page, it should work http://support.apple.com/kb/ht6008

Thanks in advance and sorry to bother you.

Thank you for the help

I just manage to trick yosemite to use my fresh ASUS PQ321Q in 60 hz mode.
The UI in retina display 60hz is extremely smooth.

GTX680, MacPro 5,1
Display Menu App (get the pro version) is a must as well.

Would the similar hack apply to Mavericks ?
I hate to upgrade to Y, not picky but the UI is horrible.

What's strange is I was able to run the LG 31MU97 at 3840x2160 @ 60hz in 10.8.5 no doubt, with the 5,1 Mac Pro and GTX680, but only 50hz for 4096x2160.

The Asus PQ321Q would not work at anything above 1920x2160 in OS X with MST turned on.

I upgraded to a GTX 980 and now using the 4k LG 4096x2160 @ 60hz with all scaled options, it's pretty great!

Hi,

I also have an ASUS PQ321Q, no luck with 4k res @ 60Hz on my GTX 680 Mac. Do you use a normal GTX 980 in your MP and get 4k @ 60Hz out of the box without the very useful hints from MVC?

Thanks

I am using the EVGA 980 4GB SC (04G-P4-2982-KR). I just installed the latest Nvidia display and Quadro drivers and that's it. I am using the LG 31MU97, I actually have the PQ321Q but I am returning it.

Price wise they are very close, so do you mind telling us what made you choose LG 31MU97 ?
Does it scale properly on Mavericks ?

I just got the asus a few days ago and after the tweaking, it looks mighty, compared to my 7 years old 30" Dell. My only beef is that it does not work on Mavericks and i'am not ready to switch to Y

They are both good monitors and pretty close, and I somewhat prefer the 16:9 aspect ratio and the Asus's 141ppi is more comfortable at full res on the eyes.

Here are the issues I had with the Asus.

1. I could not get it to run in MST mode correctly in any OS X version on the GTX 680, only SST worked, but 30hz is unusable, I dunno why they even sell monitors that run at 30hz…

2. The sharpness and color compared to the LG is not as good, but it's not "bad". Saturation was where it was easy to tell the difference. The LG is noticeably sharper, since it's 150ppi vs. 141ppi. The asus color gamut has a narrower range of RGB.

3. Speaker buzz. There was some huge ground loop issue where I had to De-ground my speakers from 3 prong to 2 prong. Dangerous and potential fire hazard. Never seen this on any other monitor.

4. Only 3840x2160.

5. Flimsy stand, thing jiggles all the time.

5. Haha, I just noticed the same on my desk, the dell 30" will stop bouncing immediately but the asus will continue the dance for a while.

Well I went back to the Asus PQ321Q, couldn't stand the 17:9 aspect ratio and the asus is the only 16:9 4k 32" with no visible ag coating. I have 3840x2160 60Hz working, thanks so much MacVideoCards for figuring this out. Apple you are a piece of **** for blocking it intentionally. Good thing the newer 4k coming out are SST, which work fine @60hz almost going back to 10.8.

GTX Titan Black HDMI -> 4k 60Hz

Hi I've got trouble getting 4K at 60Hz working under Mac OS X (Yosemite)
In Bootcamp it works fine at 60Hz but in mac its locked to 24Hz and i can't change it because it's greyed out :/
Do you have a solution for this Problem ?
I read about changing of the .kext files, but didn't quiet understand what exactly I should change in the file

Thank's !!
Regards Yackip

Tell us about your setup. Mac, graphics card, monitor?

Mac Pro 5.1, 12x3.33GHz, 128GB RAM, GTX Titan Black, OWC 240GB PCIE-SSD, 2x ATIRadeon

It's a
Mac Pro 5.1, 12x3.33GHz, 128GB RAM, GTX Titan Black, OWC 240GB PCIE-SSD, 2x ATIRadeon 2600 XT
The Titan drives a 23" cinema display over DVI and a 4K Samsung TV (UE55HU6900) via a HDMI 2.0
the two ATIRadeon 2600 XT's drive 4 Lenovo Displays over DVI

I've got the latest CUDA and NVIDIA Web drivers installed.

As I said on Bootcamp it works all fine 60Hz at 3840x2160 :)

I hope it helps :)

PS: The card is a Stock PC card -> therefore unflashed

Its this "forced crippling" of both the software and the forced (were going to surface mount everything, even the RAM) hardware issues that have driven me away from apple.

I dont want to have to buy a new piece of hardware every couple of years because the latest OS is missing features, or the drivers wont enable a feature because they "saved" it for a new/higher end model.

The none-user replaceable batteries were what kept me with me old 2008 MBP, given that that wee beastie went through 2 batteries a year at my usage (utterly consumed) and the need for me to keep a charged battery "on hand" when i was out in the field means the new MBPs are just not capable of fulfilling the business need, apple forced my hand and ive had to go back to Windows for business use, :( , and that has then driven me to go back to windows for home use , just so my eco systems all match and mesh with the minimum of fuss.

To me, apple seem to be purposefully driving business away, they just want the people who buy a new watch/phone/laptop/tablet every couple of years to show off in the coffee shop or to say "yeah i OWN the latest iWatever.

Titan doesn't have HDMI 2
mhm but I thought 3840x2160 a 60fps was only possible through HDMI 2.0
And I'm getting exactly this at my Samsung tv

Or is there a HDMI standard below HDMI 2.0 that supports 3840x2160 a 60fps ?

Thank's :)

Graphics card and monitor both have to support HDMI 2.0 or Display Port 1.2.

Sell your Titan and get the GTX 980 or wait for the nine series based Ti or Titan.

I have been busy and haven't logged in this site for awhile..

Apologies for the delay. I do not have 60Hz 4K when running on iMac 13,2... It only runs at 30Hz.
Will check and report back for 14,2.

When I have Macmini6,2, my display is detected as a Retina display. With the iMac, it is not.
