Do you have these? I'm looking, but I'm not willing to trust anything not tested by an actual person. Forumperson will do ;)

No I don't have them yet, they're on order from China, might take eons to arrive here, I'll report back when I do. $7 AUD though, for 2 of them, worth a look. I might test it on something less valuable first, like my phone or Nintendo Switch, but I'm sure they'll be fine.

I'd test on a cheap USB-C powerbank before something like a Switch, but that's up to you. In any case, I'd like to know.

Yeah I don't have one of those, but now you say that, much cheaper than a $400 Switch.

We could avoid all of this if Apple made a USB-C to Magsafe2 adapter, it would sell like hot cakes and they would also sell more chargers. But you know that they didn't want to do that because the charger's wattages have increased ever so slightly from last gen.

what, 5 and 2 watts on the 13" and 15" mbps? That wouldn't matter - the charger never delivers exact wattages anyway.

I don't know why they never made those adapters, but I doubt it was that.
My guess is either they couldn't make them then and just dropped it, or they made some sort of Jobsian decision that it was somehow "wrong". I never could figure out Jobs, and now that he's dead, figuring out the choices they make in his shadow is even harder,

...And the adapter I bought was useless. damn.

Turns out I bought one that is USB-C male at one end, and micro USB female on the other (facepalm) so not even sure what the use case is.

Anyway, found another one, and I was just sick of looking so just bought this one anyway, they're all like $14.29AUD except one, which is the one I bought, I'm sure it's identical.

What put me off these types initially was it isn't reversible (180 degrees like magsafe is) but since it's an L shape, your bound to get it right since you know which way the L is going (I think, but maybe the other end will get twisted and you'll be flipping it up and down, who knows).

Probably arrive in 3-4 weeks, 2 if I'm lucky.

This may have been addressed somewhere, but I’ve been looking for hours...

I have a Mac Pro 2010 5,1 with a AMD Radeon HD 7970. I have 3 x 27” Apple LED Cinema Displays with Mini Displayport. I have two connected right now to the the two mini displayports on the graphics card. I understand that Mini Displayport can connect to a MST hub? I cannot find a Mini Displayport to Dual Minidisplayport so I can connect the third monitor.

How do I accomplish this?

Wrong thread. This is for "USB-C docks", not non USB-C Macs.

I’m looking for a stand for a MacBook Pro that has various ports attached, as well as a power source/cord, as a feature of the stand. I’m having trouble finding it. I’m seeing plenty of stands, with no ports or power source. I’m also finding plenty of docks with the ports and power source, but they do not function as a stand. Does the combo exist out there somewhere?

As far as I know just with Henge Docks horizontal stand, but that's not very high, and you probably won't want to lift it up...

Edit: Mixed vertical and horizontal. This must be why I fall down all the time...

Does anyone know of, and even better recommend, a USB 3.1 adapter hub with USB Type-C ports rather than USB Type-A ports?

All the ones I've seen have two or three USB Type-A ports and a single USB Type-C port for passing through power to the laptop.

Ideally I'd like 1 or 2 USB Type-C ports in addition to the Type-C power pass-though port, 1 or 2 USB Type-A ports and a 4k HDMI port. Anything-else, a Gigabit Ethernet port, SD card reader, Displayport would be an advantage.

The Vistar.io hub is the nearest I've found so far, but it doesn't seem to be available yet.

It's for a 12" MacBook and needs to be available in the UK.

Thanks is advance.

AFAIK, there is none yet. But, at least for 6 month, there are USB 3.1 Gen 1/2 controller chip sets. VIA for example. But guess what? They provide developer boards with USB-A connectors only. Well these are developer boards, but still.

I could live with a simple “splitter” into 2 USB-C ports, one with PD, the other a (properly powered) USB-C 3.1 Gen 1/2 in a small travel form factor.

But I am a dreamer..

2016 Macbook Pro 13" - looking for a reliable dock, inexpensive, that will allow charging passthrough and hdmi/displayport out to 2x1080p monitors. any thoughts on this? I would prefer to connect one cable/device when I hook up.

Hi, 2016 Macbook Pro 13" here and I'm looking for a cable to replace the original Apple cable because I feel it is a nuisance (did it get stiffer from previous charging cables?). I'd love something with Nylon. I'd very much love on of those magnetic ones because I dearly miss Magsafe. However, I'm also extremely reluctant to by chargers/cables from non-name China third-party sellers because I don't want to destroy my Macbook. Any anyone can recommend?

I was looking for example at these, but comments like "fried my logic board" are scary.

Looking for a solution for fast charging iphone X from my MBP. Currently I have a work supplied Anker USB C dock which includes USB 3 ports. But connecting a lightning cable only charges slowly (slower than when connected to my previous MBA).

So I was wondering if there is a way to use the MBP 61W charger. Eg with a female USB-C to lightning cable/adapter so I could temporarily unplug the MBP and charge the phone for 30 mins.

There's no female USB-C to lightning adapter I know of, but there is a male USB-C to lightning cable. Of course you'd have to plug it into the charger, so you might end up crawling around on the floor every time you want to use it...

thanks. How about a USB-C female-female coupler so I can avoid crawling around under the desk?

Those do exist, but I've never tried one. Get a well rated one, and you should be fine. Remember that you don't need it to transfer 61 watts for this scenario, 20 should be more than enough.

Get the standard 5ft Apple power cord that connects to your 61w brick. These used to come with all MacBooks. That will get your brick up to your desk while still plugged in. Then, get Apple’s USB-C to Lighting cable. They sell 1m and 2m versions. You’ll still have to temporarily unplug the MBP, but it shouldn’t be too much hassle.

You could get a USB-C extension cable. Have it routed up from the charger to easy access on top of your desk then plug your MBP or iPhone into that as needed.

I've not used one myself so the following link is an example rather than a recommendation :)

https://www.amazon.com/Thunderbolt-...9337113&sr=8-7&keywords=usb-c+extension+cable

FYI, that cable is NOT a Thunderbolt 3 extension cable, but actually a vanilla USB-C gen.2 one (10Gpbs).

I used the "Report incorrect product information." button on the page to report to Amazon. Copy-paste the text below to aid in making them aware of this yourselves:
Cable described as "Thunderbolt 3" which is utterly false and misleading. It's a plain USB-C gen.2 cable. Thunderbolt 3 "extension cables" don't even exist in the first place!

This can clearly be seen in reviewers complaining about it's true functionality.
These types of misleading and utterly factually wrong Amazon title descriptions need highlighting to them to get them removed, as it's completely used by sellers just to get buyers to go to the item page on there and screws the search results with false positives to your search queries!

I am happy to rummage through the 45 pages of this thread; however, I hope that someone is kind enough for advice that will save me a bit of time.

I replaced a mid-2010 mbp with the new 15” mbp announced yesterday.

Can come one recommend a good thunderbolt or usb c hub, which includes hdmi please? I would prefer a small form factor and one that connects to the mbp without a wire.

Thanks
