Why did my SP3 suddenly change it's desktop back to the way Windows 8 was with the whole Metro look? I liked the way the start menu was when I first upgrade to 10.

I turned it on today and I don't like the new look.
What do you mean? Mine looks to same as it always has.

You changed the size of the start menu maybe?

Pressing the windows logo now goes to the desktop with the metro app icons. It no longer opens the start menu. I didn't change a thing. I used it yesterday and it worked the way I wanted it to and when I turned it on today, I now get to the desktop with the metro apps and not the start menu.

Mine still brings up the start menu. That is very weird

Exactly. This was weird.

Windows has been kinda...there's no other way to put it...fundunkity recently. Granted, I hopped back on the insider tracks on one computer, and I'm running brand new hardware on the other, but it's still been really goofy as of late.

I think they're tooling around with the 10's innards, preparing everyone for the big November update, making everyone a beta tester in some shape, form or fashion.

FWIW, the new SP4 covers also work for the SP3. Been tempted to get one for the larger trackpad and fingerprint reader.

Okay, for some reason I thought we were talking about the Surface 3, which doesn't have access to the updated keyboard design.

If you've got an SP3, get the SP4 keyboard, no questions asked. Even without the fingerprint reader, it's still damn good.

Nah, I have the SP 3 keyboard and the Apple Magic keyboard coming in the mail. I'm going to be switching between the iPad Air 2 and SP 3 as a way of testing which works best for me. I figured I'd ask if the Magic Keyboard would work better for the SP 3 than the current keyboard I have.

I haven't tried the Magic Keyboard, but my SP3 keyboard is alright, don't really care for the trackpad though… Would like to get the SP4 keyboard and new Surface Pen… Does the Pen have the magnet in it or is that just the SP4?

The pen has a magnet in it, but it doesn't really fit that securely anywhere on the SP3. It sticks to the dock connector well enough to keep it with the device on your desk, but not in a bag.
