As I got $0 down on JOD last year for my iPhone X, I always hoped (and assumed) to get the same $0 down upgrade for the next device. I figured it would be a smooth transition and that I'd simply be restarting the same payments with an updated device.
So, when both
T-Mobile and
T-Force on Twitter repeatedly indicated on Thursday that "$0 down JOD" would be offered for well-qualified customers, even one rep adding that $0 down JOD would be offered for the Xs Max as well, I was ready to go for even the Max, knowing I'll add just a few extra bucks monthly on the lease.
Of course, when the time came to preorder Friday morning, they offered me $99 and $109 for the Xs and Xs Max, respectively, causing a lot of angst also among fellow subscribers who felt equally misinformed. Them citing that the "Xs has a higher price point" didn't make sense, since the X then is at the same price as the Xs is now.
After a few attempts with a few reps off and on over the span of my work day (Twitter responses took as much as 40 minutes each), and providing direct links of the tweets (some of which had already been backtracked and deleted by them), I was able to get one T-Force rep to honor the deal by crediting $109.99 to my account after successfully completing a JOD preorder upgrade for a 64GB Xs Max, right before my next AutoPay.
I don't know how many other people were actually able to get their JOD upgrade for $0 down with this method (except for one who posted on Reddit a few hours earlier) or another method, so I guess some of us were just lucky... and/or persistent.
