I like the fact that I can buy the refill cards on eBay for $25-28. No taxes. I use more than 100 minutes but it's only $10 for another 100 minutes.

Does the TMobile phone work on Verizon?

If I buy the T Mobile iphone 5 at the Apple store and find that TMobile's network doesn't work well for me, can I use this phone with a Verizon plan?

I wish they had a $40 plan that included 1,000 minutes with the 5gb of data. 100 min is just not enough for a working person.

I have this plan if I test out the 60$ unlimited prepaid can I revert back if I want to to the 30$ plan?

if you buy from the apple store, you have 30 days to try it out. if t-mobile ends up not to your liking, return the phone before the end of your 30 day return window. you can then buy a verizon model if you want.

Thanks. That's my plan. In reading reviews of Tmobile coverage and checking out the maps, looks like it's pretty good in my area.

No. It will give you the warning that since the current plan is a promotional plan, you can't go back to it in the future.

Actually, you can just buy a new sim activation kit. Then port your number during the setup process and it will cancel your old plan and you will be on the $30 plan.

WOW! this sounds like a great deal to me, I'm looking to make the move to T-Mobile in the next few days.
I have an unlocked ATT iphone 4 (not 4s) and I'm over the 2-year contract with ATT and really fed up with absurd monthly bills.
My idea was to: buy a new T-Mobile sim > cut it to micro > activate the 30$ plan > port my ATT number to new T-Mobile sim (just like the guide).

Is this gonna work? I was thinking of jumping to the Virgin prepaid plan for 35$but later I found out it's CDMA and my unlocked ATT iphone 4 is GSM plus Virgin will only allow me to use their prepaid plan if I buy a new iphone from them from what I understand...

GREAT FORUM BY THE WAY! KEEP IT UP!

Should work fine....you can even save a step and just get a micro sim from T-mobile as they let you choose normal or micro for prepaid plans. I also started using Tmo on my ATT iPhone 4 last December. I actually got a full sized SIM and bought a cutter to cut it down to a nano SIM (to be ready to eventually use it in an iPhone 5) and then used a small plastic adapter that you can buy or is sometimes included with the cutter to size it back up to a micro SIM for the 4. If you're going to cut a SIM, get the full size one, as most cutters are built for that.

I'm visiting the US next week and looking for a good (data) deal with tethering. If i'm reading this correctly, i'll be able to use up to 5GB with 3G service (US 4G does not work with the german iPhone) for $30. For $45 use the whole 5GB with tethering?

Yes I believe that is correct 50$ a month with teathering.

The funny thing about this whole discussion regarding minutes is that there's a carrier in France that offers unlimited minutes (to mobiles (any and all carrier) in: France and the US, to fixed lines in: France, the rest of Europe and the US), unlimited texts and MMS, and 3 GB of data.

All this for EUR 19,99 (USD 26.05)...

So it's cheaper for Americans in France to call their family and friends in the states than it is for people in the states to call their neighbours. That's pretty messed up...

Friend has a htc incredible verizion can he use with this plan? Does it need to be unlocked?

No your friend can't, Verizon uses a CDMA network and Tmobile is GSM only. So unless your phone is a GSM capable phone it will not work on the Tmobile network. :(

No there is not. I remember reading somewhere that T-Mobile said it would be an app that they put in the app store. But again I'm not sure about the app thing. I just no that currently Wifi calling is a no go.

Yes, but only if you have a phone with the Wifi calling feature built into the framework. The HTC One has it as well as the S4. Im not sure of any other phone that has it. There are certain Android phones that have Roms with the feature built in.

Hey quick question, sorry if this was addressed, but are there specific iPhones i should be looking for to work with Tmobile? or will any unlocked iPhone 5 work? Thanks!

EDIT: after looking around it seems that both work, but only Tmobile and ATT iPhones will be able to work with 4G LTE, is this the case?

striking out on activating unlocked iphone 5 on T-mobile's $30 prepaid plan

I purchased an unlocked iphone 5 with a T-mobile Nano Sim already installed from the retail Apple Store. I've spoken to at least 6 different T-mobile customer service reps through both the gen sales and the prepaid departments trying to activate the $30/mon prepaid plan (100 min, unlim text, 5 GB of 4G data). The prepaid dept said that they could only activate the $30/mon prepaid plan with 1500 min, text, and 30 MB data or the $3-/day plans. The genl sales dept wouldn't provide me with an activation code only, even though I explained to them that I already had a T-mobile nano sim in the unlocked iphone 5.

I went to the T-Mobile store and tried to purchase an activation kit so that I could activate the unlocked iPhone 5 on the web and sign up for the $30/mon prepaid plan (100 min, unlim text, 5 GB of 4G data), and the customer service rep at the store said that their prepaid activation kit wouldn't allow me to sign up for that plan.

This whole ordeal is ridiculous.

So now I'm waiting for an activation kit to arrive by snail mail and hoping that it will work.

Any suggestions or ideas from those of you who have successfully signed up for this plan with an unlocked iPhone?

i bought the activation kit online, and activated the plan on the web. after i was able to start the plan, i then called t-mobile to have the account transferred to the nano sim. no trouble going this route, though i don't know why it wouldn't work if you bought the sim activation kit at a store and tried setting up at home.

Slurpeeman,

Did you get an activation kit with its own nano sim card online? Does the sim card that comes with the activation kit have to be used, or can I use the nano sim that already came with the iPhone?

Thanks.
