Yes it needs to be unlocked so it can use the T-Mobile SIM. Does the Incredible even have a SIM slot?

No clue he just wanted me to ask. Is it best to have a AT&T or tmobile phone to use this plan and get the best data speeds ?

And you don't need the card for Walmart that states the plan? Just a 30$ refill card is fine and you pick the plan when you activate the phone?

all you need is a sim card activation kit. from that, you can activate the plan online. as for having 3g, it's hit and miss for me in orange county. sometimes it's great, sometimes it's terrible. it was worth it for me to just buy a t-mobile iphone.

So with the tmobile iPhone data speeds fast? 4g or whatever tmobile has. Don't think they have ltd. and also phone reception good?

instead of asking all these questions, i think it's worth it for you to buy a sim card and to try it out for a month. see how the data speeds and coverage are for you. my experiences will certainly be different from yours. and if you don't like it, you can take the sim card out and go back to using whatever you were using previously.

Yea I have a SIM card actually just purchased a cheap used iPhone 3GS for like 40$ as well. if it works out can I switch my Verizon number over like after the first 30 days? Or is there a time period from when you activate your phone.

This forum has been so unorganized since T-mobile released the iPhone. There are like 60 threads asking the same 3 or 4 questions about T-mobile and the iPhone. It's driving me crazy.

Has anyone just ported their number to google voice and used this plan? Curious how that works out. Delayed texts or vms? Will visual voicemail work with google voice voicemail on the iPhone?. clarity of calls etc. Any feedback would be great thank you.

i had GV for a month or so. texts and voicemail worked great. got them just as quickly as i would have otherwise with a normal line.

can't comment on call quality since i used vonage on another cell...

The biggest issue is you can't do call forwarding with this plan. This means any calls to your actual phone number will not go to GV but will use your phone's voicemail. If you plan on only using the GV number, then it is not really an issue.

Well I want to keep my Verizon number since eveyone has it already. Is there a way when I call someone with my google voice it shows as my Verizon number on the other person I'd? Or if I text them.

I don't know another visual voicemail. But when you use the GV app to call or text, it shows up as your GV number. And if you port over your Verizon number, that's what they'll see. And what they can dial to reach your T-Mobile phone.

I call T-Mobile the "You Get What You Pay For" network. Though I've had an HTC One-S with them for over a year now, and honestly use much more data/text than voice at this point in my life.

So, the coverage isn't perfect, the data speeds aren't optimal, and I'll drop a call now and again for no real reason.

On the other hand, once I'm done paying for the One-S on top of my regular monthly (per the T-Mobile "Value" plans), I'll have a relatively cheap data/voice plan. And likely once I see how T-Mobile brings on and supports the iPhone, I'll switch over to one once the 5S or 6 (if Apple follows naming convention) is released in a year or two.

I still like them better than AT&T, which has been and still is terrible out here in the Bay Area. And, I still don't want to invest in Verizon's nickle and dime schemes. I can't remember why I've never gone with Sprint.

Plus, the T-Mobile customer service reps are part of some kind of cult or something, they've been really good to me.

I've been using this setup for about a week now, and I have mixed feelings.

I usually get about 8 mbps to 12 mbps downloading which is fine. However, T-Mobile's upload speeds are just awful. I am only getting at max 1 mbps. So if you upload a lot of pictures to instagram/facebook or videos to youtube then I would not recommend T-Mobile. Verizon has really good upload speeds, from my tests they're about 12 mbps to 14 mbps. Which is perfect for uploading media to social networking sites.

Using my iPhone with Google Maps while drive isn't a problem. Now using Google Voice to make VoIP calls while driving that is a different story. I can hear the other person just fine, they just can't hear me all that well. Now if I am in a store and I need to make a call via Google Voice then it's not a problem. Using Google Voice to makes calls at home via my home wifi connection isn't a problem.
