I've been using this setup for about a week now, and I have mixed feelings.

I usually get about 8 mbps to 12 mbps downloading which is fine. However, T-Mobile's upload speeds are just awful. I am only getting at max 1 mbps. So if you upload a lot of pictures to instagram/facebook or videos to youtube then I would not recommend T-Mobile. Verizon has really good upload speeds, from my tests they're about 12 mbps to 14 mbps. Which is perfect for uploading media to social networking sites.

Using my iPhone with Google Maps while drive isn't a problem. Now using Google Voice to make VoIP calls while driving that is a different story. I can hear the other person just fine, they just can't hear me all that well. Now if I am in a store and I need to make a call via Google Voice then it's not a problem. Using Google Voice to makes calls at home via my home wifi connection isn't a problem.

What phone r u using nd where r u located?

Has anyone considered GoSmart $45 Unlimited Talk, Text and 5GB Plan w/ HSPA+ 4G over this one?

lastly if anyone is on it, what kind of speeds are you getting?, what about LTE since it is directly owned by T-Mobile I would be interested to know if LTE is something that they are allowing in this prepaid plan since they are allowing it on the the Prepaid plans listed on T-Mobile.com

Edit:
what about trying one of T-Mobile's Prepaid APN on GoSmart? does that work by any chance?

iPhone 5 black 32GB T-Mobile edition, I live in Orange County, CA (near Angel Stadium).

Oh ok I just got a AT&T 3GS (to test out tmobile reception) im in los angeles. but had to put a stupid request to unlock and now I have to wait 5 days.... Great. Know of any quicker ways? Lol

Just got my 3GS AT&T version unlocked( paid someone 3$ on eBay) stupid AT&T wouldn't do it for me. So far I'm at work and says I'm getting 3G speeds are sluggish in the office. I'll post another pic with speed outside since I have wifi anyways in the office I don't need the data inside just tested. The subject plan would be near perfect for me. I doubt I've EVER used more than 20 minutes of voice time per month, and have had numerous months without any voice time. A typical call would be: "Hi honey. On the way home. Need anything from the grocery?" Total time: 10 seconds, 20 seconds if the wife had a shopping requirement:)

Guess life is easier for us who are retired, and married for 40+ years.;)

I've seen people post high speeds using the $30 plan. I'm not sure if T-mobile allows pre-paid customers access to LTE. I'm not sure if any other carrier allows it to be honest.

I hope that's not the case I am testing the service with this old iPhone if it works. I'm going to get the tmobile iPhone 5, but if I can't get fast speeds at all no matter where I am bc I ore pay I won't go with this service.

Great Plan

It's a great plan, it's also only 10 cents a minute after the 100 minutes. Months you talk more, you pay a little more. Months you talk 100 minutes or less, you only pay $30, including tax. You have to ask yourself, is 50-60-70 + nearly 20% tax worth the "safety" of not going "over" your minutes? The fears people express here are why retail warranties work so well.

Don't be afraid to pay for what you use instead of what you don't use.

Edit: I also see about 2 Megabit up and 12-15 down.

Crap, so the newer plans have tax on them, well darn.. Didn't factor that in. :( I don't know why all this time I was thinking it was a flat rate. Does it include the state fees as well, which usually is an extra $20 in NYC?

It includes everything, just $30 a month evenly.

Those speeds seem normal for a 3GS, I get about the same. When I put the sim in my 4S, I get up to 10Mbps but average about 8.

When I put that sim in a Nexus 4, a phone made to work with T-Mobiles frequencies, I get 17-26Mbps.

I might try it. I have Talkatone and Google Voice, I am thinking I can just get away with making all outgoing calls with VOIP and incoming calls I will use my 100 minutes and just pay the extra .10/min if I go over.

So I guess I would port my number to Google Voice.

Or I may just go with the $50 plan and not go through the hassle. Plus I am a bit afraid of Google shutting down Voice and that would put a huge damper on the plan...

just use vonage for your outgoing calls. no need to port your number away.

The plan works great for me, I have had it for 5 months now. Started with my Galaxy Nexus then switched to T-Mobile iphone 5 2 weeks ago, with talkatone and google voice I dont go over the 100 min.

Its official Im going to try this plan out. I notice some people had to purchase a separate sim card for this plan while others were lucky enough to be able to use the one that came with the phone.

My thing is lets say I wanted to try out the post paid plan in the future for comparison, then decided to go back to the prepaid plan for any reason, could I do that without losing the prepaid plan?

Would that require me to still end up with two sim cards?

Are the data speeds on an iPhone 3GS AT&T unlocked vs iPhone 4 att unlocked be the same since they both only get 3G?
