For past launches, anyone have luck getting a launch day iPhone when preordering through t-mobile's website? This will be my first time this year.

I've pre ordered the past two iPhones on T Mobile and to be honest the website is a completely mess. I've never been able to get it done through the website. Usually goes down within a minute or so. However, I've had great experiences calling in as soon as 12 PST and got my phone on launch date both times.

Do you have the link to the actual pre order page yet ?
No links so far provided by T Mobile yet. My guess is around tomorrow or Wednesday, maybe even Thursday we'll hear something from them.

Awesome! So calling is the way to go then?

I've only pre-ordered my phones through the T-Mobile website (last 3 years). Each year I've had the phone ordered by 7A and had it delivered on launch day (actually, I think last year was 1 or 2 days later, so not too bad). In the past, the problems have been with people trying to order when pre-orders start at 3a. It's like the website can't handle the load and orders disappear. Last year, I decided to just wait until 7a and had my phone ordered in 5 minutes.

YMMV.

Wondering here too what the best route is via T-Mobile.

I guess I'll try phone call.

Ugh. Call like 10 min before and chill with CSR as it turns 12am?

Ha I've tried and they tell you they can't keep you on hold and to call back. But both times, I've gotten someone within a minute as soon as pre orders opened

Can you pre order but buy the phone out right through T-Mobile?

No upgrading or financing.

I don't see why you shouldn't be able to. They typically ask how you want to pay for this or how to get it financed when you place the order.

Welp, here we are again.

JoD customer here. Let's hope this year goes smoother than the last two. My confidence in this happening is super, super, super low though lol.

TMO will likely have the same issues that have plagued iPhone launches since they started selling them. But isn't that half the fun???

I thought people with JoD/JUMP weren't able to order through the website? I remember having to call a rep last year and being on hold for the longest time.

Pre-order last year was no easy ordeal, so I'm more mentally prepared this year. Plus, with all these articles predicting that X is going to be severely constrained, I'm not expecting to have my device until the middle to end of next month. Last year I remember receiving my device just before Halloween anyways.

is there any benefit of ordering new releases phones via T-Mobile instead of Apple directly? I don't think T-Mobile will put out any promotion prior launch day. I will only order through carrier if they have promotions such as trading in old iPhones for credits.

I'm on the original JUMP program and was able to pre-order order through the website the last couple of years. I think that people with Jump On Demand were not able to order online.

Typically they just ask for the phone number, last four of social and that's about it. As long as your the main account holder or authorized user, you should be able to place orders.

This is also going to be my first year to order through T-Mobile. Jumped ship through AT&T and switched at the beginning of the year. I'm curious to see how this pre-order will also be. When I called about it just last week to pay my JUMP payment ahead of time, I talked to a lady that 'supposedly' put me on a call list. And she said since it was so early, that I would be the very first person she would call come pre-order night. I'm hoping she doesn't forget and I am one of the first because just like every year, and everyone else in here, I love to be one of the first to get the new iPhone.

Ordering mine online through Apple's App was a very easy process through AT&T. Being that T-Mobile won't allow you, I'm not sure what to do. Meaning, should I just try to order through the T-Mobile App when the time comes? Or do I wait for the phone call from the lady? Or both? I just don't want to miss out, and get the phone come next year. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just switched to T-Mobile from AT&T as well, my options are order a Verizon model via Apple Store pay it off in full or get one through T-Mobile but only if they have some kind of trade-in promotion.

Based on previous experience i would say your best bet is to call as soon as pre orders go live for T mobile. I've heard from some people that they did in fact get a call back from a rep but I've also heard that they haven't. Me personally i called the past two years as soon as pre orders went live and was able to get someone on the line within a minute, got both of my iphone's ordered within 10 min and got them both on release date. I tried the website but for me at least, it went down both times as soon as pre orders went live.
