I was trying to setup my facebook alerts for textnow but from the app it will not text to a short number (32665) and from GV (webpage) the SMS would not go through.
Was anyone able to get FB to alert to with their textnow address? thanks

I am afraid short numbers won't work. If you would like to get FB alerts via Textnow, I would recommend asking Facebook to send notifications to your @textnow.me address instead.
I'm afraid it a FB issue how they handle activation of that type. FB does not allow you to simply input where to forward to, they want you to use the device to send a SMS using 32665 and a f in the body.
i tried from GV to send a SMS to FB but it fails. Had FB simply allowed you to put in a phone number this would be simple.

There is a free app called Boxcar that does Facebook notifications. Have you tried using that?
Have you tried using Mail Notifier? Facebook sends email notifications as well. You can also try adding your @textnow.me address to your Facebook account and go into settings to have the notifications sent there.
Yeh but then I cant have my main FB email address for regular contact info and put my textnow email address just for notifications...

Thanks. I have been wanting to buy this. Unlike some of these other big spenders on macrumors, I have to justify spending $5 on an app. Not $.99 though!
I noticed lately it is taking a lot longer for texts to be forwarded to my phone from Google Voice. In fact, as I am typing this, I received a text from google voice 13 minutes ago (as I checked my google voice through my web browser) but textnow has not forwarded it to my phone yet.
It's been taking a couple of hours for me, not minutes.
Is there a server problem Derek?
I just did a test. It took about 15 seconds for a text sent from my phone to my partners phone to show up.

getting some seriously long load times on new messages when I load the app. 30 seconds or so.
Also getting some hangs when trying to send messages. having to close the app and retype and send. kinda annoying.
edit: and i'm getting minute+ delays on push notifications. Not that these matter that much. But still. something is clearly killing the server.
edit 2: and i had 2 messages from google voice completely skip coming to Textnow.

We had some load issues with the server last evening. However, the load issues should be resolved and the texts should be going through as normal.

I'll have a look at the issue. The 3.3 update (to be submitted soon) should solve the sending sometimes hanging.
I made some changes on the server to make it load faster. Can you let me know if it is okay for you now?
Yeah sure. I'll have to wait until I actually engage in some texting though because I prefer not to text people random messages.
Out of about 5 texts I sent today. One hanged forcing me to quit the app and resend the message. I REALLY hope you can do something about this. Maybe it's in the app itself but I am sure I am not the only one experiencing this problem because my sister complains about it all the time. This problem is also tempting me to return to TextFree.

i could never get textfree (lite) to work. It NEVER sent me texts... such a pile of crap.
I do hope this gets fixed. I love the fact I can use it with Google Voice. Unlimited texts with an actual number. Can't say no to that.
Any news on the Textnow update? I tried Messagenow with the new input style box and i cant stand writing on Textnow's small box anymore!
The new update should be available in a couple of weeks.
We also ordered a new server that has a much higher speed and capacity. Once we get that setup Textnow will be much faster.
