I hoped it would be fake so that Apple could put an HDMI port on it. I mean lets make it so that any display can be plugged in. That's the point of the mini. Not to drive home the apple only peripheral ideas.

You know, the leaker probably works for Apple...

Doubt it. Nobody in that department would risk and amazing job with great benefits (with a product few people have touched, seen, or known about) to get a bunch of 40 year old Mac nerds and 15 year old non conformist mouth watering.

If so then maybe they could take some better ideas back to Infinite Loop and bring us some better computers. They kinda listened to the matte finish complaints on the MBPs.

Again, when will people realize Apple is a COMPANY THAT MAKES MONEY! There goal is to sell you APPLE PRODUCTS! The genius bar isn't just there to help you, its there to sell you new computers and APPLECARE. People Apple isn't evil, but they are just like every other business, A BUSINESS!

thank you .

probably in the marketing department ....always happens this ....fun though eh :)

Negative. Thats not how Apple Works. Anyone thats worked for Apple knows that the division between the departments is only rivaled by Government Top Secret agencies. Apple protects its assets incredibly. Steve Jobs said it himself when the Intel Computers were announced. They had been ON CAMPUS working on those computers for 5 years and not a soul knew anything more than just the rumors and chit chat.

Plus if this guy does work for Apple, and this is true, hes a scumbag. Hes not trying to "help sell Apple" hes using Apple to try and get his 10 minutes of fame. Hes damaging Apple more than he's helping them, and all you fan boys instead of stroking him off, should be telling him to go away. Especially without even turning it on and showing us what we really want to know... the specs. I give give a rats ass about the casing, we wana know what the specs are.

I'm not saying that Apple shouldn't sell their products but they shouldn't put you in a corner and almost force someone not to choose them because they can't hook up their own 22" flat panel. Granted there is a converter but still.

There isn't a 22" (dumb size) computer monitor out there that wouldn't connect to this new (fake) Mac Mini.

Or the MacBook family, for that matter.

They shouldn't close source there phones, they should't make you sign into the Genius bars... the shouldn't list is pretty damn long. Love it or Hate it thats how Apple has been since Steve Jobs returned and thats just the nature of the Beast.

I wonder if it might simply be a knockoff of the Mac Mini. Sort of like all those knockoffs of iPods and iPhones that come mysteriously out of "the east."

The thing works right?

Of course the guy on the subway, or maybe it was at a subway told him it did. I hope you got chips and a drink with that.

Bingo! Somebody who is using more than .025% of there brain.

Cinema Displays + Mac Mini

Does it not make sense that the next Mac Mini would be released along side the Cinema Displays? Why would Apple release a new consumer level mac that did not have a webcam, or at least the option to use a webcam.

I bet Apple might even decide to lower the prices on their displays so the iMac will me viewed as a mid-high end product, which the mac mini will be a starter desktop mac. Maybe 799 for a display + a mac mini? It would seem to be a competitive market that apple would be willing to enter.

Remember the day when tangerine and indigo iMac's were everywhere in educational systems. Well that has slow stopped happening since iMac's cost a bit more than what a school system is willing to pay. Sure, the iMac's price has not changed that much, but with companies like Dell and Gateway who can sell a PC w/display for 399, why would apple not try to take that market back.

Most people stick with the computers they are comfortable with, what better way to convert more PC users to Mac consumers than to slowly have their workstations replaced with them.

Just a theory into Apple's marketing strategy to increase market share. No real hard evidence, just premises and conclusions.

Sorry I don't agree. Apple are masters of marketing and this is exactly the way things happen , build up the fanboys create massive traffic on Apple sites the world over `( as is happening now and for the alu macbooks recently ) and sell sell sell .

They obviously don't tell all employees , that would beat the objective if everyone knew about as it's easier to keep secrets with a smaller amount of folks knowing about it.

Like you say anyone who works/worked at Apple doesn't know **** unless they need to locked down tight isn't it ;) , so they can fuel the rumor mill.Simple really.

BTW , I'm no fanboy :)

Again I worked for Apple for years. They are not only smart but wise in protecting there equipment. They know who had that potential prototype and they will track that person down, and prosecute everyone who breathed on that thing. They might even sue you for seeing it :apple: and they should.

That's quite rude saying that Apple should sue him. Being a fanboy on this forum doesn't get you any bump in status at Apple headquarters, and doesn't help the level of respect you receive around here by esteemed members.

Why would it have a Mini Display Port then? Maybe it could be someone who took apart their new MP and fit it into a Mac Mini case. Would take a ton of skill. I do also wonder where the HDMI port is? However it would make a bit more sense, Apple does not want to ruin the Apple TV since it is not doing well to begin with.

Apples strategy is plain and simple. We make the best OS, the Best Computers, and offer the best Service.

You pay to play. Apple has never been interested in people looking for a bargain or scrounging together a computer. They are the BMW of computers and they have the product and attitude to go with it. I like that too. I am glad Apple's market share isn't with everyone in the universe. Owning an Apple is something you can still be proud of. Apple charges you for the quality and time in there products. If you want a cheap computer... Buy an Emachine with Windows. You get what you pay for.

No Apple hates rumors. Rumors effect there stock prices dramatically. Just like the Rumor of Steve being Terminally ill made there stock tumble, or the rumors of the Nano caused the Apple stock the drop. Apple hates rumors and they have no real need to fuel them. What do they gain from rumors. Nothing, most the time people get disappointed because the rumors where too good to be true.

So let me get this straight. You own a company that has a strick NDA product that can bring you revenue. Some punk kid working for you ignores the NDA and posts it before its released, putting earnings and privacy at risk. You wouldn't sue him? If you say no, you need to take some Anti-Nieve pills. Remember Apple sued a 13 year old kid who operated a rumors site. They mean business. They are proud of there products and there investments and they don't want anyone screwing with this. How is it so hard for some of you to understand the business side of Apple. Apple isn't Alice in Wonderland. There no Tea Party and White Rabbit. There are a bunch of guys going... how can we make money and deliver a product we can stand by.

That's what they told you in the dept you worked in ...I'm talking about marketing here , it's a bad choice of word on my part 'rumour' as I understand what your saying , totally, I'm talking about the marketing side of thing not rumours per se.

Quick snip of new product here ....a sneak view there ...bingo , MASSIVE traffic all to do with Apple , =big sales , it really is that simple.

Needs video plugged in with system information.

Until it happens, it's still a fake!*

*it can still be a fake, but the /effort is considerably higher.

I never told you which department I worked for. Shame on you for assuming. I guess Marketing to you is what you see on TV shows. Lets just say I work in the Marketing and Advertisement Industy.

no you didn't but you did say that you "worked for Apple for years"

Let me guess. Steve Jobs isn't sick either. Hes actually having secret meetings with Adobe to buy Adobe, but hes using his illness as a ploy so Google or Microsoft won't get in the mix. Another brilliant idea from Apple Marketing.

Going to have to disagree with this. First off "best OS" is fairly subjective. I use Vista 64 and OSX out of different software needs and both work great. In fact Vista 64 is noticeably faster to work with, and both OS's are on similar hardware. But I like both just fine.

Mac computers are incredibly overpriced. Apple does NOT make the best computers. Otherwise there wouldn't be so much hand wringing over Apple's current offerings, which are fairly embarrassing to anyone who knows computers at a decent level. Apple has taken form over function to an extreme.

Lastly, owning an Apple is nothing to be "proud" of. You should not be proud of the things you buy. Possessions are not a reflection of who you are, and if they are, then obviously you have placed meaning and value in the wrong things.
