Mourinho guides Man Utd to a resounding 1-1 draw against Anderlecht.
There is virtually no chance Man Utd will fail to win the tie, but this was fairly underwhelming. Can Mourinho lead the world's most expensive football team past a few weak European also-rans and lift the trophy he has always made fun of but now needs to win in order to not look like a big failure?
Yes, but - from having been the darling of the media, and the man whose thoughts were sought on everything, handsome, articulate, polished - I think Mr Mourinho finds it difficult to accept that a new generation of hungry and tactically adept (perhaps more so than he is) managers - individuals such as the urbane Mr Conte, the accomplished Mr Pochettino, the gifted Mr Guardiola, the impressive and controlled Mr Klopp, - are all threats to his bloated sense of his own importance, and his role in the premiership, and are all tactically adept and strategically aware.
All of them are good; and all of them are exotic in their own way, none of them are English, so the whiff of the unexpected and novel and new that Mr Mourinho brought with him over a decade ago has long since dissipated. I am not sure that he has come to realise this - let alone internalise it - just yet.

Surely Arsene will leave now? Gunners fans may end up regretting it, at least in the short term, but the momentum behind 'Wenger Out' is becoming pretty overwhelming.
Actually, I very much doubt that Arsenal have anyone lined up, and they are a prudent, cautious lot.
I suspect that the events of the past few weeks will lead to Mr Wenger being offered a one year contract, rather than the two year contract that Arsenal may have hoped to offer earlier in the season.
