Yeah thats more than fair enough, it isn't for everybody. Some like smaller phones and thats fine. Too many times it's argueing about whats better but at the end of the day it depends on your usage and what you use the most.

Like Mac for example likes using the camera and has spots where he lives that having a good camera is very important...which is understandable so a phone with a good camera is a must.

Yeah. I think we argue to much about what is the best. When who can really define best. Your best is different than my best. For me I see the M8 as a phone that everyone will like, but on the other hand some people want the bigger or smaller option. At least we have choices.

A friend described the M8 as bloated compared to the M7, and he liked the M7. After using the M8 yesterday and then picking up the M7 it really hit me that a 5" screen on the footprint of the M7, if possible, would have been ideal.

Rumor is that HTC made a 2 year commitment to Ultrapixel. The 2014 reviews were noticeably more harsh regarding the camera compared to the M7.

There are things to admire about the M8. I'd happily use a free one. But I ended up buying a Nexus 5 yesterday after holding out for the M8 and getting to finally use it.

LTE

EMEA: (800/900/1800/2600)
Asia: (700/900/1800/2100/2600)
AT&T: (700/850/AWS/1800/1900/2600)
Sprint: FDD (800/1900), TDD (2600)
Verizon: (700/AWS/1800/2600)
T-Mobile: (700/AWS)

Looks like this thing supports upcoming TMo's B12 spectrum.

Also it seems to be quite future-proof on AT&T. It supports every band possible for LTE. WCS (2600) isn't even supposed to be deployed until next year. It also seems to support their upcoming LTE-A network with carrier aggregation.

That's good news. Start to see all new handsets support these new bands

Which do you think is easier to handle and use with one hand, M8 or Nexus 5? Is the difference noticeable?

IMO a lighter phone will always provide a more pleasurable one handed experience with the given that the backing is pleasant to hold. (Curved, materials to your liking, etc.) In that respect I feel the N5 gets the nod.

Both phones are essentially identical with respect to screen size. 5" with on-screen buttons. So that's a wash.

I wouldn't be too concerned about using the M8 with one hand. But if you are using the phone for a long period of time with one hand, say 15 minutes or more, then I imagine the N5 will be more pleasurable. But if we are talking the quick text message/email reply, or browsing for short intervals, then I wouldn't worry about using the M8.

Very true, one thing i'm surprised HTC didn't make the phone the same size and make the screen bigger. Like samsung did really...

The All New HTC One (M8)

Yeah that seems to be the growing tread. Make the screen bigger, but the over all footprint smaller or the same size. That is what so many people loved about the Moto X. Small total package, but pretty decent screen size.

I am going to hold out, and see what Apple has to offer with the iPhone 6. I am really starting to careless about customization, and just having a phone that can do all the things I need, and doing those things really well. Right now that is the iPhone 5s. I still have my nexus 5 if I ever want to go back to android, but if I am going to use my upgrade it will either be the iPhone 6 or the new One. If rumors are true, and the new iPhone is bigger (wider) then that will most likely be my next phone. If not the One will get a lot more consideration.

What about the ease of pressing buttons in the area on the opposite side on the top? Doesn't HTC One M8's height make it harder to reach those areas as compared to Nexus 5?

The new double tap to wake/sleep functionality, as well as the wake gestures, really diminishes the inconvenience of having the sleep/wake/power button on the top right edge of the M8.

I am talking about on screen buttons. For example, when using with the right hand, the difficulty in pressing something that is in the top left corner like "new tab" button on Chrome

Or when using the left hand, the difficulty in pressing something like the search button in Google Play Store.

I was just wondering how hard it would be to press those buttons with one hand without shuffling the device in the hand and how it compares to the Nexus 5.

Gotcha. Would be my concern as well, considering the huge amount of bezel at the bottom. My guess is that's it's going to be somewhat difficult on any device with a 5" display, more so on a phone with bigger bezels (One, Xperia Z2).

The size of the galaxy s4 is the maximum size I can use with one hand. They can easily put a 5.2 screen in the body of s4. Instead both htc and Samsung choose to increase the size and weight!

Of the phones I've owned or tried, none pleases me more than the form factor of the LG Optimus F7. So much so that I still have it even though it is outdated obviously spec wise.

My immediate guess is that the N5 would win that battle just because it has less bezel around the screen. That alone should help you reach the opposite top corner of the screen more easily.

Assuming you live in America, you can get a definitive answer right now by visiting Verizon to try for yourself with the M8 and Sprint/T-Mobile with the N5. I think overall the N5 wins the one handed/ease of use battle.

Lol if I were living in America, I would be living in that store...that's why I have to resort to asking users on forums instead..

I couldn't resist and got the M8 last night. It has been pleasant surprise so far. the camera is not as bad as everyone seem to make it out to be. Here are some pictures taken with auto focus on and no editing. the camera is not as good as my Galaxy S4 but it is not bad at all!

I like it so far......i am used to phones with a physical home button so getting used to the on screen software buttons...... The new Sense 6 UI is very nice and very fast. The phone is very fast indeed. I like the curved back and the way it fits in my hand. Then the boom sound is so nice! I love the way this phone sounds! I am happy so far...will take some outdoor pictures later today.

I'm still considering picking it up and keeping either my lumia 1520 or S4 for it's camera.

If you don't mind the size of the One and/or bezels, and knowing how much you value your camera, ever considered trying the Xperia Z2? It has arguably the best camera available on an Android phone, matches or exceeds specs of any other flagship out right now, and a fairly light software skin. Seems right up your alley. ;)

(I may also be trying to use you as a guinea pig as we seem to have similar preferences in our smartphones and the Z2 isn't announced yet for the States. :D)

I don't like Sony's android skin tbh
