Great! release it about 6 months early and I'll be in line to get one.....oh and make it a 16MP camera and sold......
Seriously....put a decent camera in the HTC One line and it is a game changer....

If it even had an 8MP camera I'd probably get! USB 3.0 & wireless charging would be icing on the cake for me. I love the look of the M8, just not a fan of the weak camera.

This, and reduce the bezels.

I am not sure they can.....they could eliminate the HTC logo and reduce the bezel. But the front facing speakers are a signature feature for the HTC One line. They are pretty awesome too! :)

They would need to improve the quality of the lens rather than increasing MP. My DSLR is a 10 megapixel and will only take as good a picture as the lens allows. The quality comes from the glass, not the sensor. On phone's the lens can be improved with limited space but marketing bods would rather push MP's because it sounds more impressive.

To be honest...i don't know anything about what it takes to make a good camera. I agree with you about just increasing the MP will not make it a great camera. But then 4MP no matter how you spin it is not enough in todays mobile phones. I wish it had the same camera as the S5.....

Jamez, is the M8 your daily driver?

Unless you are printing out images to A3 or larger, you'll find a 6MP sensor is perfectly adequate for the job. On a phone though it probably wouldn't be because regardless of how many pixels they claim to have, you'll get cloned pixels to make the images sharper anyway. My 10MP DSLR will undoubtedly take a better picture than a 16MP mobile phone simply due to the quality of the lens I use, but as I said this is what boosts the spec sheet these days in the mobile market.

The new GPE 4.4.3 ROM's are great for battery life so far. After my first day on this ROM, below is my battery life, 21h 55m and still 27% left. With 4-1/2 hours Screen Time On, looks like I can get a total of 6+ hours screen time on and more :)

And this was mainly on the 4G network, only like an hour or two on WiFi, with 20 hours on mobile network.

No one buys the M8 for the camera ;)

The S5 is much superior in that department. However if your just using the image for social networks and not cropping in, the M8 can take some good shots.

Indeed if you reduced the res /size of an S5 picture so that they both were about the same size, then the difference is surprisingly marginal. However viewed both at 100% side by side and clearly the 16mp can capture more info than the 4mp.

......
Also tip ... The HDR mode on the m8 is not working properly. When I shoot in auto I tend to get VASTLY better results in lighting and clarity than in HDR mode - as the HDR mode tends to over expose far more than just standard Auto mode.

If you want to use HDR mode, try Googles own camera software. It produces better HDR shots than sense camera, so clearly there is some software issue there.

_____ unfair I know. 4mp v 34.4mp But yeah here you can see what I mean - cropped to fit this forum window/thread so that they both look same size and either is ok. Click on either and that's where the megapixels kick in. So viewed as a similar sized image to its rivals the M8 produces similar results, but viewed 100% and 4mp can't compete. But if you were sharing on Facebook / instagram / snapchat etc... then the difference between them would be negligable. Heck if you posted it in the tapatalk app on this forum - the difference would be negligible too as that crops and compresses images.

Maybe it's just me, but I prefer the M8's photo here. Not sure why but I do. When you look at the photo blown up at full res the rocks close up looks fuzzier to me.

MacRumorUser, is the M8 still your daily driver or have you switched to something new?

It's still my Daily Driver. I think it's a great daily driver for me.

Love the size of the device, love outdoor visibility, fantastic audio both speakers and via headset, task app works great and TV app is a pleasure to use. Indeed Sense 6 I think is pretty spiffing both performance / aesthetics and usability. Fitbit integration is fantastic for me.

Despite having other phones, it's the consistent user experience that I enjoy and even after months it just doesn't get bogged down performance wise ever.

We all know it's biggest issue is camera, and despite low res I've managed to take some beautiful photos. So it doesn't irk me as much as it did when I had the M7.

Battery life is stellar for me, and the dot view case is great for when I'm out and about and need the extra protection.

It's also why despite lots of lovely lying phones coming out I'm more cautious now, as for every day tasks the M8 does them all without ever letting me down.

It's the best android handset I've owned - in spite of its camera and that's saying something.

Agree. I would have ditched iOS yesterday for an M8 if the camera didn't suck.

I was waiting for the G3 but with all the heating issues some are reporting, it has swayed me to consider the M8.

Yeah you see that's exactly why I cancelled my Amazon order for the G3.

Performance is just so reliable on the M8 and no traces of overheating ever, and to me it's like I am gambling a lot of money to potentially move to another android handset that may cause me a headache.

The choice of ram on the Lg put me off too, there is no way Lg are optimising its software for both 2gb & 3gb.. It's the same software. I think the 16gb could struggle especially multitasking, like the S5.

The M8 is just so efficient memory management wise, I simply don't even have to think about it ... and that's the way it should be.
