Is it just me or have other enthusiasts lost interest in cars that aren't technologically-advanced? Lexus interior design is a nice step above Tesla, but I find myself craving a Model S. I'm even beginning to lose my Cadillac enthusiasm.

Same with me. It's one of the reasons I choose to lease an Acura TLX over the Lexus IS 300. The two separate displays, push button shifters, jewel eye headlights, and etc, really made my choice easier.

The Tesla model S is one of my dream cars.

Looks great, but pricing has been rumored to be around $40k. At that point, it's a no go. There are plenty of high-performance cars in that price category, such as a CPO Audi S4 or 335xi and they come in manual.

But in typical Ford fashion, they'll be discounted in a month anyways, so who knows... :)

Everything I've seen says they will start at 34k.... So a month after they hit dealers, there will be a "manufactures discount" bringing 2k off the MSRP from the top. :)

Do we know where the Sport will be positioned in the lineup?

The Titanium AWD already starts at $33k.

Isn't the 335i new about 45k? Not sure about xis or what that means in BMW world.

Yeah but that's stock form, good luck trying to find one of those on dealer lots unless you custom order/build one. the "xi" moniker was used (now retired) to represent AWD. Now it's just "BMW Model" xDrive (xDrive meaning AWD). Basically the CPO'd 335s are decently optioned and not priced close to a new Focus Sport.

Both cars have killed the manual with the updated models coming in. You have to go with the 340ix to get manual and AWD. S4 has no option for it anymore. They are getting scarce.

It's always been the case for the F30. To get a manual and AWD, one had to opt for the 335i anyways.

Apparently the 2.0T B9 is getting a manual as a late introduction... Hopefully that means the S4 too. With the B8, North America was the only place to get an S4 with a manual. Europe was DSG only.

Closer to $60k these days. $45k barely gets you into a 328...

I think they brought back the xi badges recently? Few years back, they would put small xDrive badges on the front fenders.

EDIT: I was wrong. They put xDrive badges on left side of the bootlid now. So confusing

I feel the same way about the GT. A lot of superior high-performance cars in its price category.

Stick to being cheap, Ford.

Yeah, an Ecoboost Mustang in Premium trim is just under $30k (msrp), even with the Performance Pack it's only $2k more, I'd hope the Fusion Sport would be way more in line with that.

We don't even know the final specs, don't have any performance data, I don't know if the "superior" is some kind of brand equity, but in terms of performance, I'd wait and see :) Also, talk to someone who buys cars in that price range, and I think you'll find those folks love the GT (it's all it's forms, the original, the 1st Gen and this new one), as much as anything out of Germany or Italy, since there's not in an either/or position :D

FYI to the thread: the new Ford GT will be making it's debut at the 24 of Daytona this year (this month in fact), and it's the 50th anniversary of the GT running, where back in 1966 it +destroyed+ the other cars in it's class.

Anybody going? We are :)

335i is gone and replaced by the 340i (same car with a new engine). Base is 45,800 and if you don't go nuts with add ons you can get a nicely optioned one for 55,000 or so.

On the topic of BMWs...

BMW cuts No Cost Scheduled Maintance to 3 years, 36k miles and no brakes for MY 2017

http://www.bimmerfest.com/news/8899...-to-3-years-36k-miles-and-brakes-for-my-2017/

attachment.php

Doesn't really effect Canadians because either BMW Canada doesn't replace brakes or was never included in maintenance. At the end of the day, it's a loss of one oil/fluid change. From experience, I never had to replace any of those things on various BMW's and Mercedes within the first 4 years. So doubt the average driver is going to feel the effects. This only affects those who track their cars and want BMW to subsidize their heavy use within the first few years. No judgement but not sure why BMW should have to subsidize your track day. Got to pay to play.

At the end of the day, it sucks knowing BMW is doing this but its not that big of a deal. Not many manufacturers even offer free maintenance.

Jeeze, almost 35k for a Ford Fusion! I suppose I've been saying it all along... Cars have become really expensive. Sure, it's loaded but still, that's a lot for what was once basically considered an entry level family sedan.

Another strange feature ofthe rear of my later generation E60 5-series. The badging says 535i xi/xDrive/AWD and the only xDrive badges are on the sides of the car, nothing on the trunk. All 09-10 5-series do this. Personally though, I don't think the xDrive badges look that good on the trunk, as they're found on the newer F10 5-series and 3-series.

This oddity is in addition to the single exhaust pipe on the e60 535. Seriously BMW, maybe on the 528 but last I checked base Nissan Altima base 4-cyl gets dual exhaust.

Well, it could be worse. You could have a Z4 sDrive35is. Kind of just rolls right off the tongue doesn't it? :)

I don't know what BMW is thinking with some of these model designations.
