IQS is a pretty meaningless metric, unlike VDS, which shows quality issues over the past 3 years. I cannot believe that Hyundai/KIA are screwing their cars together BETTER than Toyota/Lexus, the industry leader for the past 15-20 years. That's impossible.
They're not. The problems aren't based on statistical significance. A better metric would be dollar spent or under-the-hood problems.

At the end of the day, cost to own and your own personal level of happiness is all that matters.

Looks like a total improvement. I never liked the Panamera's styling until now. Looks like touch-sensitive controls for HVAC and stuff though? Not sure I'd like that.

Looks way way better than the first generation, more coupe-like, less wagon, without being too reminiscent of an A7.

The temp and fan controls if I'm not mistaken look like scroll wheels. It does look like some of the controls are touch interface, which I absolutely hate- even with tactile feedback like in Cadillac's Cue. Physical buttons are just far more practical.

Meh. The new one looks boring.
I've owned 2 Panameras because i loved how ugly and weird they looked.

Wow, the VW terms are out. $15 billion. Every 2009-2015 diesel VW/Audi owner will be able to sell their car back or have them fixed. Additionally, it looks like owners will get somewhere between $5,000 and $10,000 each.

Also, it would appear that the major car companies (not named Tesla) benefit greatly from the settlement, as VW has agreed to invest major $$$ to electric and hydrogen infrastructure.

I don't think they were ugly, just unique, or odd. But I like weird cars like the Cube, Element, etc. I was looking around last night at used prices and see they are more than within reach. The 300hp versions sounds a little underwhelming but the turbo... Hmm.

Only the non-urea 2.0TDI models.

Capacitive touch whilst driving...hmmm

Still that spoiler though...

nxjhkp1pz841domx6217.GIF

That spoiler is Germans being Germans, that is, making something more complex than it needs to or should be. I'm sure it's functional but it ruins the overall look of the car for me. I was expecting something similar to the design and looks of the spoiler on the A7.

Well, the last gen Panamera did the same thing.

Seems unnecessary, but it still looks kind of cool.

I love the new Panamera... If I was to buy anything German... This would be it... Pretty sure the price one up

Think I'll pick one up at Carmax for half/fraction of the price

As much as I side with cars that are more driving oriented, I think for this batch or generation of cars, I have to go with the 2017 E-Class. Up until now, the car that I thought was most complete and combined everything was the M6 Gran Coupe. But with the intro of the new E-Class, there's nothing I can complain about. I love the direction Mercedes took with the S-Class and C-Class but both are too big or too small. The E-Class takes the good from both but leaves the bad. Mercedes-AMG E43 for me.

I remember when the Corrado came out, I thought the spoiler was the most amazing thing. Then again, I was young. Still like the car though :)

Didn't the VW New Beetle Turbo have a deployable spoiler of sorts? :p

I don't know if the Audi's spoiler is manually deployable, but a guy in my neighborhood has a (2014?) RS7. When it's parked sometimes, the spoiler is still flipped up. Not sure if that's a setting or a fault. It seems like a delicate mechanism and I could see problems with it trying to open up if there was ice locking it up.

The Porsche is even more complex- I was mesmerized the first time I saw that in stop/go 0-50-0mph traffic on the Mass Pike. I can only imagine that system being even more problematic. But hey, if you can afford an A/R/S7 or Porsche Panermera I'd hope you could afford to fix it.

The spoiler on the RS7 can be manually deployed and can remain deployed even with the engine off. As for locking up, I'm sure there is some system where if it won't deploy or won't retract it won't continue to try - similar like a sunroof (if it can't open/close, it will stop trying and trigger a fault to reduce further damage).

That was my thought as well. Not only does it retract up, but also retract out to expand so I can't even imagine what the repair cost would be but if you had the money to buy one, I'm sure you have the money to repair it!

I place more faith in Porsche engineering and reliability than I do with other German brands. Having said that, holy cow. That thing is gorgeous. A man can go insane with such desire for that car. Wow. It looks delicious. It's gorgeous and beautiful in ways I can't even describe, and the single malt I'm having right now doesn't help me any further. It's a harmonious blend of tech, elegance and sport. Capacitive touch shouldn't be a problem with this orientation, and I'm willing to bet the steering controls can be programmed to deal with certain stuff.

When discussing luxury cars or sport-luxury cars, it doesn't matter which country the brand hails from. If something breaks, you're going to be paying a premium. It would be nice to deal with Honda priced parts on a $70,000 luxury car, but it's not going to happen.

Anyway, have an appointment to take in our Lexus for airbag recall fixing this Friday. Hoorah! We barely drive it 2-3x a month, but it's still progress!

It deploys around 80mph and there's a button to manually do it.

When it senses any resistance (ice, etc), it immediately shuts the mechanism off, so it doesn't force itself open. The mechanism itself feels fairly robust IMO. My friends used to open/close it on mine. Never any issues.

TT S has something similar, no? Is it an electric aided or hydraulic aided system? I'd imagine it having to be robust considering the amount of pounds per square inch of downforce being applied to said spoiler at high speeds. I'm not sure if any of you noticed in that GIF, but the back end of the Panamara drops a little once the spoiler is fully deployed. I'm noticing it now, but I've just woken so I could be seeing things.

Well, suffice to say, I knew it was too good to be true. My appointment with Lexus wasn't for a airbag change. It was an appointment to check things out but also to set an appointment to have them replaced... A very matryoshka approach. I do come bearing "gifts." I set up a Google alert a while back for the LC500 and this came up on an Imgur album.

Lexus only seem to acknowledge there is a recall, everything else is protracted...as is usually the case when manufacturers/dealers have to do things for 'free'

I really hope the LC500 gets close to the LFA and doesn't become as disappointing as the RC F
