They're not. The problems aren't based on statistical significance. A better metric would be dollar spent or under-the-hood problems.http://www.jdpower.com/press-releases/2016-us-initial-quality-study-iqs
IQS is a pretty meaningless metric, unlike VDS, which shows quality issues over the past 3 years. I cannot believe that Hyundai/KIA are screwing their cars together BETTER than Toyota/Lexus, the industry leader for the past 15-20 years. That's impossible.
Looks like a total improvement. I never liked the Panamera's styling until now. Looks like touch-sensitive controls for HVAC and stuff though? Not sure I'd like that.
Wow, the VW terms are out. $15 billion. Every 2009-2015 diesel VW/Audi owner will be able to sell their car back or have them fixed. Additionally, it looks like owners will get somewhere between $5,000 and $10,000 each.
Capacitive touch whilst driving...hmmm
Still that spoiler though...
Well, the last gen Panamera did the same thing. That spoiler is Germans being Germans, that is, making something more complex than it needs to or should be. I'm sure it's functional but it ruins the overall look of the car for me. I was expecting something similar to the design and looks of the spoiler on the A7.
Seems unnecessary, but it still looks kind of cool. That spoiler is Germans being Germans, that is, making something more complex than it needs to or should be. New Panamera was just shown off. What an improvement in every way

I love the new Panamera... If I was to buy anything German... This would be it... Pretty sure the price one up
Think I'll pick one up at Carmax for half/fraction of the price
Didn't the VW New Beetle Turbo have a deployable spoiler of sorts?
I don't know if the Audi's spoiler is manually deployable, but a guy in my neighborhood has a (2014?) RS7. When it's parked sometimes, the spoiler is still flipped up. Not sure if that's a setting or a fault. It seems like a delicate mechanism and I could see problems with it trying to open up if there was ice locking it up.
The Porsche is even more complex- I was mesmerized the first time I saw that in stop/go 0-50-0mph traffic on the Mass Pike. I can only imagine that system being even more problematic. But hey, if you can afford an A/R/S7 or Porsche Panermera I'd hope you could afford to fix it.

As for locking up, I'm sure there is some system where if it won't deploy or won't retract it won't continue to try - similar like a sunroof (if it can't open/close, it will stop trying and trigger a fault to reduce further damage).
Well, suffice to say, I knew it was too good to be true. My appointment with Lexus wasn't for a airbag change. It was an appointment to check things out but also to set an appointment to have them replaced... A very matryoshka approach.
