Titanium is a trim level. It is one below the highest level which would be the Titanium X. I wouldn't consider anything less than a Titanium except perhaps a Zetec S which is a sports focussed equivalent trim level. Although to me there are only two Ford Focus worth having. The ST and the RS. Then again that is because I do like my VW Golf R.

does anyone know what the "Titainium" means on the 2014 Ford Focus

personally i think that AutoZone is ****ing with you

EDIT: Why block your plate? Not much point in that when you drive down the street people see it anyway! I left my plate visable in this thread (look at previous posts) That plus the fact that that particular plate is now expired.

1. The entire car is made out of a solid block of titanium.

2. I appreciate your concerns.... But I have to wonder Is AutoZone Fing with with me or have I been Fing with you? Get in the Zone bro!

3. Well unlike real life where you can see me driving, you can't see my car online, follow me home and murder me. You could look up my license plate number though, find out my address, and wait silently in the bushes until I get home... You would be waiting a long time since my car is registered to an address 200 miles away from where I normally live. I guess in that case it's so you don't accidentaly murder my parents or get bored staking out and decide to kidnap my puppy instead.

I've attached a rendition of what I'd like to do. Add a Turbo, V8, High Output, and Limited Edition badges on the back of the car. Because for some reason the E60 BMW's don't put the X-Drive logo on the trunk lid, only on the front quarter panels, I will get a 4x4 and Off-road decal to prove it's worthiness.

Why stop there, you should do this...

///M535xiTurbo and then add the quad exhausts. The only xDrive E60 M5. You can really get on it now, all four wheels to put down all 500HP. Tesla what?:D

I've always wanted a vanity plate. Sometimes they're annoying though, especially in New Hampshire where everyone has one. They're so expensive in Connecticut, it's not really worth it- especially when I have nothing good to put on it.

Here are some ideas in no particular order.
5) HOBY-CAT - For my appreciation of sailing
2) TOUAREG or TUAREG - If I ever have buy a VW Touareg (1st is the car, 2nd is the nomadic tribe the car is named after, known for its long treks across the Sahara desert). I suppose if I bought the car and sold it eventually, it would have been a waste, so the tribe name is kind of cool.
3) ARYEY - My first name. Lame, but it's available
4) DRUG-DOC - Because I'm a PharmD, but I don't want to get pulled over by every cop thinking I'm a drug dealer
1) MAZL-TOV - Mazel Tov

I have shown a few of the plate options. There is the standard "Constitution State", the "Preserve the Sound", and "Olympic Spirit". I'm not really a fan of "Home of the Amistad" because the La Amistad was a slave ship (that was overtaken by the slaves who were eventually freed so it's a supposedly a symbol of freedom). I have never actually seen anyone with that plate.

I could also register my car in Massachusetts if I wanted to.

How do I know this? I contacted my local DMV (for ***** and giggles) to ask them if they could simply "tell" me How many Daewoo's are registered in Minnesota. I specifically said I don't want to know registration information just how many there was registered (for curiousity's sake) they sent me a PDF of a form to fill out and saying I would have to pay a fee to get that info.

How much are Vanity Plates in CT? they are rather expensive here in MN as well (Cost 100 for the plate + the registration fee) however replacement plates are only $10 go figure....

I actually like being a little more anonymous when I'm driving around :) People rarely remember a tag, but an ASSMAN tag, I'm sure they'd remember :D

The _worst_ vanity/custom tags are the ones that call out other makes/models, and/or boast about racing, you know:

VPR KILR
FRD EATR
YUDLUZ
10SECQT

etc.

In CT it's about $121 to register a new car with all the fees included (registration, environmental fees, plate fees, temporary plates)

Then the price depends on the background
$134 for the plain standard vanity plate
$139 for the Long Island Sound vanity plate
$159 for the Olympic
$149 for "Support Our Troops"
$79 for the Veterans
Free if your a POW

There is some truth in that. My mom was going to get me one when I turned 16 until she found out that her friend used to have one long ago and got harassed by guys because it had her name or something. As a guy, I don't think I'll have that problem and if girls are harassing me, I won't mind.

damn... The only Vanity plate Minnesota allows is the standard issue plates. We have several plates we can get including:

Critical Habitat (5 designs)
Support our Troops (1 design)
MN Exclusive RVID (Remembering Victims of Impaired Drivers (Standard background) the only MN plates that vary in appearance are the Critical Habitat and Support Our Troops plates. All other plate options use the standard colour scheme (Minus the Whiskey plates or Government plates) those are solid black on white plates.

the $100 is just the Vanity plate. you also have to play for the next year's registration (200+ for 2014 vehicles) or less (depending on age) MN does not charge you for a temp tag (I dont think) I have never had to get one so i cannot be for sure.

Standard issue plates cost $6 both new or replacement are NOT transferrable however all Vanity and Specialty plates ARE transferrable (for an addition 5 dollars) ALL specialty plates cost $10 for a pair. if you have Critical Habitat, Support Our Troops, Proud To be a Veterian or University plates you are required to pay a contribution fee (no less than $25) except for the RVID Plates which have no conribution fee at all. We also no have a Wheelage tax at registration so for a car the age of mine its around $60 a year to register it and that is standard issue plates.

I'm thinking of modding out my BMW too? What do you think I should do? You seem to know a lot the products available as Aftermarket Mods I can I get locally at AutoZone. I don't want to spend more than $100. I was thinking a Turbo badge to start off with. My car is a has a twin turbo, but it does not explicitly state it.

Damn, I was actually gonna hit you up about this! It NEEDS turbo badges. Can you grab me a twin-turbo badge also? My diesel is a twin-turbo :)

Also, I was thinking of turbo whistles too! How do you feel about that? Would be awesome to hear the turbos down Harvard Ave!!

----------

My BMW only has exhaust on one side of the car (2 pipes)- See attached, don't mind the pup. I think I should put tips on the end and then mount 2 on the other side to make it match and look like na M5. Or I could do 3 on either side. :D

Interesting. I always thought the non-turbo 528i had the exhausts on one side and the N54/55 E60s had one pipe on each side.

I think you should get a new exhaust system and rear-diffuser. Quad pipes like an M5! Vroom vroom

As I recall you covered up your plate. I would recommend everyone do the same. I'm not sure why you really even care.

If you wanted to pay to lookup a license plate all you have to do is fill out the form and lie that your looking to hire me as a driver or I want to rent a parking space from you. Just pay the DMV and I doubt they even check with me to make sure your claims are legit. They do not have that level of auditing I'm sure.

Alternatively you can pay one of the 3738829 online services you can find on google who really won't care who you are. Or you can ask your buddy who works for the police department to look up the plate.

Let's get back on topic here.

My sister is 28. She's in a MD residency so she doesn't make a lot of money and she's pretty frugal. She's looking to buy a new or slightly used and spend under ~$30,000. Preferably a small to midsize SUV but she's not set on it. She wants something is relatively reliable and inexpensive to maintain (aka no German cars). She currently has a '07 Grand Cherokee Overland but it's getting old and is becoming unreliable. The gas mileage isn't great either.

She's not sure if she wants an SUV but wants AWD. I have recommended another Grand Cherokee, Honda CRV, or Subaru Forester.

Any suggestions?

Late[r] model Toyota Rav4? Heck, a brand new XLE with a few upgrades, or a Limited, AWD is under $30K. It's "cute", handy, AWD, and there are Toyota incentives for 0% for 48 months.

if you mean my plate was covered in the image of the ass - that was done YEARS ago back when the plate was only 3 years old. The other pics the plate isnt covered because the plate is now expired and its not on the car anymore

EDIT: In some states it is actually illegal for a cop to run your plate without either a warrant or probable cause. For example a cop is behind you, you are obeying all laws and doing nothing wrong, and the cop runs your plate, That is illegal in some states however if you have something like expired registration stickers than that would fall under probable cause.

On a simular note: It is also illegal for a cop to follow you for 3 miles without pulling you over, It falls under harassment laws (In MN anyway).

1. I am not sure about anywhere else but I know Minnesota made it illegal for police to pull you over just for your plate.... then again that was whiskey plates, Assuming the state would even ALLOW a plate that says DRUG-DOC that depends on state mainly because most states only allow 7 characters, Why not something like "PharmD" where that will not be suspicious?

2. That's creepy a bit Stalkerish really...

and as far as the focus.... I wouldn't know this

I'd actually advise AGAINST a brand new car the overhead isnt worth it. You could buy a 30k car drive it out of the parking lot, Turn around and sell it right away it's only worth 25-27K shes better off getting a Used or CPO car.

My friend actually just bought a 2014 Rav4 surprisingly she says it gets good gas mileage, I was always told SUVs are gas hogs (Vans are too), they must of done something with the late model SUVs to prevent them from drinking so much gas.

I'm not sure if it would be allowed. PharmD is taken I believe, but that should not be suspicious. I see plenty of doctors with plates that have their initials followed by MD. Massachusetts doctors can get special MD plates. I wouldn't want a violent drug addict thinking I carry pills on me though.

I'd actually advise AGAINST a brand new car the overhead isnt worth it. You could buy a 30k car drive it out of the parking lot, Turn around and sell it right away it's only worth 25-27K shes better off getting a Used or CPO car.
It depends on the car. Toyotas have very high resale value typically so if a new one may not be much more than a used one. Sometimes you get a better deal buying new. This can occur with warranty coverage and financing deals. Newer models might have different features, reliability improvements, minor changes that would be worth it in the end.

In some states it is actually illegal for a cop to run your plate without either a warrant or probable cause.
That's true but it doesn't mean a cop can't run plates. How would they get caught? Cops do a lot of illegal things unfortunately. He could easily run my plates and give you my address. If he ran plates, saw someone had a warrant, and pulled them over based on running his plates without a reason, then the arrest would not hold up in court.

It is also illegal for a cop to follow you for 3 miles without pulling you over, It falls under harassment laws (In MN anyway).
How do you determine if a cop is follow you or just on the same route? ;)

Yes, the Rav4 is on that list as well. I don't think she liked the styling of it though. Same with the Nissan Rouge. I keep reading the Mazda CX-? is the top car in the class which is interesting.

I believe my car is a twin turbo as well. I've never been particularly impressed with the sound of the turbo in my BMW. It's not as audible as the Audi's I've been in. Harvard Ave? Not if you want to run over a thousand people crossing the road?

A lot depends on the specifics.

My mom-just a few weeks ago-bought a new 2014 model Buick LaCrosse. It had 50 miles on it, so the dealer had obviously used it as a demonstrator or at least shuffled it around the parking lot a fair bit. They were ready to move it, though, and had it priced at $7K off sticker(I haven't checked, but it wouldn't surprise me if this was below invoice).

She'd actually been looking at a used 2014 with 20K miles, and it was only $3K less expensive.

I'd say in her case, buying the new car was a very smart move compared to buying a virtually identical used one.

Of course, situations like that are the exception and not the norm-I'm generally inclined to buy used. When the time comes to replace my car, there's a decent chance that a 2015 Impala SS will at least be under consideration(it meets my basic requirements of a V8+RWD), and I won't mind letting the depreciate for a few years.

V8's are going to get harder and harder to come by :/. It's crazy how quickly everything turned went from 8 to 6 and 6 to 5 or 4 cylinders. The things we do for gas mileage... There's nothing like the sweet roar of a V8. Plus I trust them little more reliability wise. Eventually you'll have to pick up the PPC philosophy and resort to primarily using much older technology, in this case cars.

My era of BMW is interesting when it comes to the V8 model. There is really no real reason to consider even buying it unless you got a deal on it. In 2009 there was the 528, 535, and 550 models. My 535xi (300hp 3.0L Twin Turbo) ends up being nearly as same as the 550i (360hp 4.8L V8). Take a base 535xi, add the leather and dimming mirror options, along with $10,000, dump the x-drive AWD and you essentially get a 550i (no AWD model in 2009). In the end you get 2 more cylinders, no AWD, worse resale, worse gas mileage, higher insurance, and a 0-60 speed that's only .2 seconds faster.- all for $10,000 more. Now, you'll probably notice a difference in acceleration at high speeds, but if you live in a city you won't get up there that often. 535xi 0-60 is 5.4, 550i is 5.2 :roll eyes:.

Now that 8's are 6's and 6's are 4, 4's are turning into 3-cylinder engines. Volvo, Ford, BMW, and a bunch of others are working on 3-cylinder engines. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
