ATS-V looks like a pep-boys special, but I'm sure it drives superbly.

Most of the performance variants go for the in your face/aggressive look over the regular version.

Though I agree the ATS-V looks definitely goes on the more extreme side of that compared to the M's and RS's. AMG's can be on the extreme side as well.

Just bought a 2015 C300 4Matic. The car was not even on my shopping list until today, I was looking the IS250 AWD, GLA 250 or CLA250 AWD. While I do like the Lexus more overall, I don't think I can stand the slowness for 4 years.

When I came back from the test drive for the C300, I thought there was no way it was within my budget. Turns out he was willing to take my MINI's lease over and pay the same monthly (insurance and lease). I don't know what the person was smoking when they were calculating the residual on the C300, its 64% after 39 months. Either I got scammed on the MINI or I got a sweet deal on the C. I'm a happy guy. Going to pick it up next week.

I'd said I wasn't getting rid of my Lincoln LS any time soon(and still don't know that I will), but the 2015 Impala SS has me really interested.

I went through and configured one on Chevy's site yesterday, and splurging on a few options while passing on a few I don't work(like a sunroof-I've had enough leaks in my cars with them to last a lifetime) and it might be imminently affordable. I'd, of course, would probably have to custom order it to get the manual transmission, color I want(I'm not super picky about it, but pretty much am looking at black, red, and a color that I'd call British Racing Green even though Chevy calls it something else) and the combination of features.

Has anyone actually even seen one of these "in the wild." I haven't.

My old man doesn't drive the SS, but the regular one. It's fine. The SS is a lot of power to the front wheels.

Think he is talking about the SS sedan as there is no Impala SS.

It's a Holden Commodore. It's basically the Pontiac G8, but a bit refreshed.

Well, speaking on color alone, I've never seen a British Racing Green-esque Chevy (Impala or Camaro). Green was a big color in the 90's and then the early 00's sage green was popular. Green doesn't seem to be a popular color right now in general- not to say you can't by a green car. To be fair though, I don't see a lot of SS's or even Impalas around in here the northeast. The asians have the family sedan market, and the european have the sports sedan market.

I looked at some cars with my sister this weekend. We saw the Forester, Rav4, CR-V, Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, Rogue, Volvo S60 & XC60, and a Lexus RX350. She concluded she doesn't like the Rogue and CR-V, probably wants an SUV, wants heated seats, and thinks panoramic sunroofs are cool. That's about it, so we're making some progress

If I had to guess (since she's not saying much), she seems most attracted to the Forester, Grand Cherokee, Rav4 and maybe the Lexus. She is used to a powerful, fairly luxurious Jeep and aside from the Forester, these options had the nice interiors. My vote first vote is the Grand Cherokee- it's has a more durable feeling, attractive ext/interior, nice ride, and good value. That said, it has poor gas mileage and it doesn't have the unbeatable asian reliability. I like the Forester a lot, however the interior isn't quite as refined as others. In that case, I prefer the CRV despite it's poor AWD.

She's 29, has no debt, and will be finishing her surgery residency in a year. I think she should buy something on the nicer end because soon she'll be earning a salary 3-4x as much as she's making now as a resident. In a few years, she could afford a much nicer vehicle, but then again I'm not sure how much she even cares. I'm not suggesting trying to buy an S-Class, but an entry level vehicle may not be what she wants in a couple years. Right now she's planning on paying cash. I'm sure this is what my parents instructed her to do since they don't believe in making car payments. I'm not sure that's the best course of action, but having no debt is always a good thing.

Was this a used Lexus RX350? How about a new Lexus NX? Since she will be making the money in the next year or so, maybe she should "splurge" a little an get the nicer car.

Funny enough they're actually offering _THREE_ green options, the BRG-a-like (Protip for Chevy marketing ... change the name from Peacock to anything else), and a much lighter metallic sage-y color and something in the middle, very "plastic green". Must be predicting a green revival. It's a tricky color to get to work on anything short of a classic.

It's available with a manual! Amazing.

I mean that's my thought and it unleashes a lot of other options.

My parents have always instilled this idea not making monthly payments on anything except a mortgage and utility bills. To them, making payments is not "living within your means". With car payments comes interest. Even with 0% I guess they psychologically don't like the idea of the responsibility of owing money... I guess it's easy to say that if you can afford it, but that's not the reality with most people.

Your parents are correct about this, but with the finance rates these days, it makes no sense to pay cash for a car. I've seen 1.9% APR on a new car loan. That's basically free money. Hell, Toyota is doing 0% APR on 2015 Priuses.

Keep the $30k in the bank.

I recently paid off the BMW and it's nice not to worry about a car payment, but when I bought it, the APR was super low through my local bank. This is probably the reason why I'm keeping it out of warranty (ends in May) for a few months before looking at replacements.

I guess I had it in my head that Chevy had resurrected the Impala SS name for the new Holden-based sedan, in the same vein as the 94-96 Impala SS.

In any case, yes that's what I'm talking about.

Front wheel drive cars aren't even on my radar.

The color I'm speaking of is what Chevy calls "Royal Peacock Green Metallic."

I know everyone has a different definition of BRG, but at least from the website pictures it looks pretty darn close to what I think of as BRG.

Chevy's Peacock Green is very similar to Jag/LR's BRG.

It's quite cool how green is making a comeback. Porsche sold the Cayenne in a nice green hue, but promptly discontinued it once the facelift occurred for 2015. http://images.gtcarlot.com/pictures/66135706.jpg

I'm sick of every German car being sold in white/silver/black/grey

What I want to see is the return of more "cool" colors from the 90s. Purples, bright blues/greens, orange, etc. VW had so many cool colors on the MK4 GTI.

Thanks-that sells it for me. I've always had a "thing" for BRG.

There really aren't a lot of options on the SS other than Auto/Manual and a few other small add-ons, which is why I'm thinking about color more than I normally would on a prospective car purchase.

Yeah the SS is already nicely equipped especially the 2015 as it has a manual option, magnetic ride control, etc.

The SS is basically a build to order car so I would go to the dealer soon to make sure you can still order one( rumor is 2015 is the last year for the SS as GM is killing the Holden Commodore). Or find one on the lot that is the color you want.

to date ive seen exactly zero SSs on the road, literally. same fate as the GTO - a mechanically great car that is wrapped in the hideous styling of any other forgettable front wheel drive GM product.

Yeah, while I love the dark[er] metallic grays (like Lexus GGP, Toyota Mica Metallic), I think I want to do some _color_ for my next ride, just something outside the gray-scale range. Iv'e had black/gray/white over and over and over. My one big deviation from that course was yellow and I loved it.

I dig on the light blue option on the GT500s (my likely next-purchase-target), with black or white stripes, some bright, in your face color (and I've personally never owned a blue car, though the wife had a blue Z3) :)
